Chapter 16: Finding Out About The Mysterious Rescuer

After a few minutes, Detective Kim received information about the girl being treated in the emergency room.

"Sir, neither of them is Captain Lee," Eun-Ho said over the phone, and everyone heard it because the phone was on speaker.

Upon hearing this, the tension grew to its peak because the patient in the operating room might possibly be Ji-Won.

The Chief stumbled while standing there, and Detective Kim and other people handled him.

Detective Kim said this to the Chief and consoled him, "Sir, don't worry, she might not possibly be Ji-Won."

But what he said didn't make much of a difference because all the evidence was pointing towards her being Ji-Won.

Then a thought came to his mind, and he turned and moved toward the Information Desk. There, Detective Kim immediately shifted into investigative mode, his mind racing to connect the dots. "Can we speak to the person who reported the incident? We need to gather as much information as possible."

Seeing Detective Kim go toward the Information Desk, Chief and everyone understood what he wanted to do. Chief, along with everyone, went there before him.

The nurse hesitated for a moment, considering the request. Chief, recognizing the delicate nature of the situation, intervened, "We understand the need for privacy, but this is a police matter. The more information we have, the better we can handle the situation."

Chief also added, "Don't worry, we wouldn't do anything to him. The girl in the operating room may also be my daughter, and I know what to do or what not to do. So please take us there because only he can tell us if she is my daughter or not."

Detective also said something, "And if that girl is the one we are looking for, then she is also a captain in Seoul Police Station, and we are her team members. So please understand."

Hearing the persuasion of Chief and the other team members, and after a brief exchange of glances among the hospital staff, the nurse nodded. "Follow me, I'll take you to the person who brought her in."

As they moved through the sterile corridors of the hospital, Detective Kim's team and the chief followed the nurse. When they reached the waiting area where the person was supposed to be, they stopped. The nurse, who was taking them to the place, was also surprised to see that the person was not there. She told them to wait and said she was going to ask where the person was. "Please, sir, wait here, and I am going to ask where that person is."

The nurse went to another nurse who might know where the person went. "Excuse me, can you tell me where the person who was sitting there is? The one who was with the accident patient that is now in the operating room."

The nurses who were there listened to her talk, and one of them said, "I think he may have gone to the toilet."

But then the other nurse said, "No, he just walked away a few minutes earlier. He settled all the bills of the patients and collected all the documents."

The nurse listened to everything and came back after thanking them. She told them everything she had heard.

"How can you let someone like this leave from here? There is no security in your hospital. Is it possible that he is the one who did that?" Eun-Ho said this when he heard everything from the nurse.

Detective Kim controlled him and told him to shut up and apologize to the nurse. "I apologize on his behalf. He got confused in his emotions."

The nurse made a strange face, and she even got scared because of his speaking like this.

"I am sorry, I am sorry," Eun-Ho said repeatedly when he came to his right mind, and then he asked for forgiveness from the nurse.

The chief thanked the nurse and asked her to go do her work. He told her to get the medical paper which the person filled and sent Eun-Ho with her to get a copy of the papers. Then, with everyone, he started to sort out all the things they heard from the nurse.

"So, according to the nurse, the person left here, and from his motive, he already filled the Guardian Form and also paid her medical fees. Not only that, he also reported this to the police station. So, I think he might not be the one who injured that person," Detective Kim said to them.
