Greedy Mages

"Hello, fellow mages."

Noah's figure stunned the 5 mages. They looked at him like he was an alien. They also put some guards up and spoke cautiously.

"Who are you?" The arrogant mage was the first one to speak. Other mages behind him didn't talk and decided to look at the situation. They tried to gauge Noah's power since Noah was emitting mana.

He was just a second-tier mage, he hadn't advanced at all. So, he didn't have total control over his mana. Casting spell is one thing, he couldn't directly control his mana.

"I am a passerby." Noah examined the mage.

"And you expect us to believe that."

It would really be idiotic to believe that.

"Well, that's your problem, not mine." Noah shook his head.

"Don't spout nonsense and tell us who you are?" The mage took a fighting stance by raising his hands slightly and flowing his mana to his palm, ready to cast a spell anytime.

"Well well. I am, the lord of this city, Noah Crescent." Noah took out a badge stuck in his pocket for god knows how many times.

The mages looked at the badge and fell into a dilemma. If this is really the lord of this place, then he must be the prince of the capital.

Everyone knows, that every price was given land to manage, but that doesn't mean they have cut their connection with the capital.

Harming a prince is like slapping at the face of the capital, and killing them is insulting them.

"Are you really the lord?" The mages had doubts.

"...Yeah."

The mages had started to emit an idiotic aura. Since, what was the point of asking? Even if he was an imposter, he will just say yeah.

Hearing that, the arrogant mage once again looked at the badge. It was real. So, he bowed his head a little and spoke in a very polite way.

"I apologize for my rude behavior."

"It's ok."

"May I ask, lord. What happened to the monster invasion?" His character took a solid 180 and looked like a polite mage.

"The monsters were defeated by me."

"Huh?"

Noah said it casually. But, the word hit the arrogant mage hard.

From the information he knew, the prince in front of him was the second prince of the kingdom, which is only at the second tier.

"Please, don't joke, milord."

"You think, I am joking." Noah smiled slightly.

"If I be a little rude, your majesty is just a second-tier mage. So, it is unimaginable for us to believe that you defeated an entire monster invasion."

Hearing the word, Noah's smile grew a little bigger but it went unnoticed by the mages.

"Then let me show you the proof."

"Huh?"

While the mages were confused, Noah walked inside the house.

"Could you believe, the lord defeated an entire monster horde?" One mage whispered to another.

"Hah." Another mage sneered. "If a second-tier mage could defeat an entire horde, then us, fourth-tier mages could dominate the entire world."

"But he said he will bring us the proof."

"Even if he did bring, it couldn't have been done by him. There could be other mages. Do you think a prince of the mage kingdom won't have some hundred mages by his side? And, is the monster invasion that rare? This invasion is only dangerous for small towns like this. Have you ever heard of big cities, or even common cities being invaded by monsters?"

Hearing the mage's word, other magicians calmed down.

When Noah returned from the house, he brought a big cloth bag. When they glanced at the bag, they could catch a glimpse of a small black stone. Mana was emitting from the stone.

"A-Are all these monster cores?" One mage's voice shook.

"How much money could be obtained by selling these many cores?"

While other mages were exclaiming, the arrogant mage's eyes widen. His hands shook a little.

'If I could be able to sell this bag, won't I be rich?!' He drools over that bag of cores.

One had to know, that a single core costs a sum of money. Well, it wasn't that much since monsters could be hunted in great demon forests, dessert of monsters, dense sandy land, etc. These are the main base of normal monsters.

Demons and much stronger monsters lived in monster cities, that is a whole another nation. Humans and demons had formed a temporary truce. So, one can't go freely in a demon city and hunt like in previous times.

So, the price of cores is a little expensive. If sold in little amount, it won't be that much money. But selling thousands of cores in one go, one couldn't imagine the fortune they made.

They could buy a whole royal castle with that much money. Living a life without worry and even their seven generations could live a life of luxury.

Of course, this will happen if they spend it wisely and don't go on a money spree daily. Mages don't have much money since they had to buy resources to advance faster. Magic times, equipment, etc also cost a fortune, so despite selling these cores to earn all that money, it won't last for more than a week if they decided to spend on mage items.

"Now you believe me." Noah swung the core bag.

"This..."

Every mage's eyes were fixed on that bag. If they could obtain money by selling all that cores, they could buy resources that would advance them to tier 10 mages.

'Is this prince retarded?'

All of these mages thought simultaneously.

Showing this core bag wasn't less than courting death. If one wasn't strong enough to protect the bag, one would be killed by other mages.

And, there was a title for the second prince too. Easy to fool, a retarded prince.

He could easily be fooled or deceived. It was rumored he was a coward and weak. And even the royal family didn't support him much.

They just wanted to snatch that bag and live a luxurious life.

While they were drooling, Noah was looking at them with a hint of satisfaction in his eyes. An evil smile appeared on his face.
