Days went by and Lan preceded in training his Magicarp and Cyndaquill. They both grew a little with the nutritious food that Lan made. Sadly they didn't like it as much as Alice's homemade food.

"Uggh she shows me up in every different area I try. Oh well, I'll just ask her for her recipe later."

"I still can't believe Levy is going with Alice now. I guess that actually helps me out quite a bit. I taught her a little how-to battle but for the most part, she stayed in the Library. She is definitely a bookworm. Haha."

"Also, I better go get Vulpix. Since she hatched when Oak and I were talking. We are going to give it to Mrs. Ketchum today."

Lan eventually made it downstairs and took a seat on the couch with his cup of Coffee. He saw a note from the professor that he was out studying Lan's Magicarp.

"Uggh, why does the professor always like my Pokemon. He even gave me this Professor's Version of the Pokedex and a new KantoTrainer ID here.

Lan then compared it to his Professor ID which is his Current Trainer ID.

"I told him not to name me after Color and it still has the same picture from my Professor ID. I don't know if that is a good or bad thing. Lan then cleared his Professor Account and transferred the money to his new one. The system now recognized his 3 different accounts thankfully making the transaction go unnoticed. "

"Sigh, well it looks like I will have to wear something to cover up to prevent some people from recognizing me."

"Ever since that dam* nosy reporter found out that I was the second youngest Professor ever. I couldn't show my face anywhere for a while. That Professor Sycamore just beat me by a month but oh well. Maybe I can visit him in the future."

Lan then thought about how he gave his sister 30,000 P for her journey. Even though she saved enough money he still wanted to give her a little.

Lan then made his way to the sleeping Vulpix and brought it and its Pokeball out. After he was done he went back to the lab and set down his backpack in the corner. Vulpix jumped up to Lan's lap while he sat at one of the couches. He then fed and brushed Vulpix until people arrived at the Lab.

Professor Oak arrived first and looked a little groggy. He went over to the Coffee machine and filled his mug and started to read the Newspaper. Vulpix hopped down and started to explore the Lab while Lan relaxed to think about things.

Daisy, Alice, and Levy arrived a little bit later. Daisy immediately made a Beeline to the coffee and started to guzzle it. She had been up late last night talking to Gary and the girls. Levy came down and sat next to Lan and started to talk to him about the book she read last night while Alice started petting Vulpix.

After a little wait, some of the new trainers showed up. Overall there was 5 of them not including Ash, Alice, or Gary. Most of them were wide awake and seemed very excited. There was a girl in a light green sundress dragging along a boy with a red cap by his ear. All of the new trainers each had their small travel bags and were talking in low voices.

Levy's Eevee stayed on her lap while she was being groomed by Levy. Lan took a good look around and thought ' I am surrounded by some beautiful girls' but was snapped out of his trance when Vulpix came up to Eevee skipping wanting to play. Everyone laughed and Daisy picked up Vulpix and started to brush her as she had an extra brush in her purse.

Lan looked around and said "Daisy shouldn't Gary be here already? I mean he lives in the same building."

Daisy sighed while she replied " I know but he went out this morning muttering something along the lines of how a future champion needs to make a Grand Entrance to a start of his Journey."

"Ohhhh, that sounds like ... Gary. I just hope it isn't too obsessive."

"Excuse us can we pet your Pokemon?"

The girl in the green dress and the boy with the cap made their way in front of them."

The girl had stars in her eye looking at Vulpix while the boy was looking at Eevee curiously. The two girls smiled and nodded but indicated them to be careful.

The pokemon were happy to get the attention.

*SLAM*

The door to the lab opened and Gary made his way in with a strut. He had a smirk on his face and everyone could hear a crowd chanting his name in the background.

"Gary!!"

"Gary!!"

"Gary!!"

Lan turned to the other while thinking in his mind 'What a prick' and said "That is a little much right?"

The people around him subconsciously nodded in agreement.

Oak then clapped his hands and motioned for everyone to gather.

Oak"Well the appointed time has come and we are just missing one person."

Alice snickered "Sucks to be Ash" everyone chuckled a bit.

Oak cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. "We won't wait for him because all of you need to start your journeys." He then preceded to give a speech about what it means to be a Pokemon trainer and about the boundless adventure that awaited them. He then took out five different Pokeballs from a machine.

He called the two teens who did not come up and talk to Lan and his group earlier. Oak smiled and said your parents requested certain starters for the both of you. He then opened two of the Pokeballs and a Tarous and a Manky appeared.

The two new trainers smiled and stepped up to their respected starter. Oak preceded to enter their information into his computer and gave them six empty Pokeballs each. The two trainers quickly returned their starters and quickly made their way out of the lab in excitement.

Now there was only 4 new trainers left besides Ash who still didn't arrive. Oak then took out the 3 remaining Pokeballs and released each of the starting Pokemon from their Pokeball.

Squirtle

Bulbasaur

The three royal starters of the Kanto region made their appearance. Oak started to give a brief description of each one while everyone was looking at the young pokemon.

Lan could tell that these Pokemon were young and healthy. They were perfect for a new trainer to raise.

Oak smiled at the faces of everyone and stated "So to determine who we will pick first we will go by the order arrived. SO Mrs. Leaf, you are going to choose first followed by Mr. Blaze and lastly Gary will take the remaining starter. Alice yours has already been selected and we will see it in a bit."

Everyone nodded except Gary whos face immediately distorted and whined "Come on Gramps that isn't fair. I wanted to choose first because I deserve the strongest one."

Oak "Gary this is how it has always been and you live here so you could have been first. But you choose not too." Lan could see Oak was becoming increasingly annoyed by his Grandson.

Gary "But..."

Lan couldn't help himself and scolded "Shut up Gary! I would stop complaining you are making a fool of yourself. Also the more you talk the longer it will take to get your starter."

Gary glared at Lab but preceded to shut up. He knew Lan and his demeanor and that he had just started with his Pokemon also and he already had four of them. He needed to still get his first so he went silent but arrogance flowed from his eyes.

Lan sighed and thought 'This brat is going to have to be taught a tough lesson sometime soon before he pisses off the wrong person."

Oak"Okay Leaf come on up and choose."

The young girl nodded and slowly approached the pokemon who was seemingly asleep on the far left of the group. She knelt and offered her hand and asked it "Bulbasaur will you be my partner?"

The Pokemon immediately perked up and nodded "Bulba! Bulba!" as it was happy that it was chosen first. The girl squealed and hugged her new Pokemon.

Oak then nodded to the boy with the cap. He did the same thing but approached the middle Pokemon "Charmander, How about we reach the top together?"

Charmander squealed and tackled the kid knocking him over making the onlookers laugh.

Gary who showed an eager smile approached Squirtle "I was going to pick you from the start. We are going to be the champions and no one is going to stop us."

"Squirtle" the pokemon nodded and put on a large smug grin towards the other Pokemon.

Lan whispered underneath his breath so that only Levy, Daisy, and Oak could hear "Looks like those two were made for each other" The two girls covered their mouths and snickered at the comment.

Professor Oak then pulled out three new Pokedexes and many empty Pokeballs as these were the trainers that received a sponsership by the Lab for this year. He then preceded to show them the basics of battling having Gary and Blaze fight which ended in a draw.

Leaf and Blaze said Thanks and goodbye to everyone and left the lab.

Oak then turned to the group resting his eyes on Alice and smiled.

"Alice you have shown a great deal of skill and eagerness to learn while you lived here and developed into a beautiful granddaughter. That's why I didn't really have a choice on which starter to choose for you."

Everyone just looked at Oak with a lot of questions. But non more than Alice who had a cute puzzeled look on her face.

Gary was going to say something but Lan smacked him in the back of the head so that he didn't ruin the moment.

Oak smiled again and said out loud "You can come in now."

The door to the lab swung open and ...
