Tryouts and Ivysaur

"Oh you just have to go forward, the battles are against a member sent from the League headquarters. The battle itself is not that difficult if you have practiced with your pokemon." The receptionist directed me to a huge arena where a battle was already in place.

I took this time to bring out my Bulbasaur to introduce her to Chancey.

"Bulba!" She was excited to come out after being in the Ball for a whole day.

"Saur?" "She is our new teammate, Chancey. She is the elder one out of the two of you but as the leader, you have to protect her always." I shared my intentions with my Bulbasaur and as I expected the words were understood and etched in her mind.

"Bulbasaur!" She made a proud face in front of Chancey and I could almost imagine her patting her chest as if to say 'leave it to me.'

Chancey just picked her up which was met with no resistance. I could imagine if I had a Bulbasaur who was a male he would have been a lot more defiant than my Bulbasaur.

"Okay now get ready, we are here for a battle, and we will win that for sure" "Bulba saur saur!" "I would also like it if you could evolve with this battle, I can sense you nearing your threshold as a Bulbasaur, but there is no pressure, if not here we would go battle more somewhere else."

"Gyrados use Twister!" Ha? is this trainer an idiot? It takes time to collect Dragon aura from self to prepare a Twistermove, because of this it is nearly useful in Pokemon battles, as it causes mass destruction and less individual attack damage.

"Bulbasaur use tackle and hit the Gyrados with Vine whip." "Bulba!"

"Gyrados! Scary face!." Immediately the Gyrados stopped whatever it was doing to look eye-to-eye with Bulbasaur, which made Bulbasaur stop in the tracks.

"Move back now!"

"Too late! Gyrados use Waterfall." A huge collected water dome fell onto Bulbasaur as the Gyrados moved directly upon her at the same time.

"Vine whip yourself out of them!" Dammit, the Scary face affects the opponent's speed and speed is what we need to escape. "Brine!" Fortunately, Bulbasaur had pulled herself back otherwise with the double damage condition of Brine on low health, it would have been the last attack Bulbasaur had made.

"Don't let the Gyrados close up on you, use Sleep Powder while using moving sideways,!" Good thing Bulbasaur was taught to use Sleeping powder while moving. As for twister, I should l Bulbasaur manage it by maneuvering herself with a Vine whip and Razor Leaf.

"Bulbasaur Razor leaf!" Sleeping powder is sinking into the opponent's Gyarados, I could see its movements becoming Sluggish. Despite being a water type, Gyarados flying type nature makes up for its weakness against Grass-type Pokemon which most Water types suffer from.

"Use Vine whip and strong arm the Gyarados, it's time we finish this battle!" "Sau-ur!" The Whirpool came into effect and Bulbasaur was in a bind, for some time she resisted but in the end, Vine whip died down as Bulbasaur fainted on the ground.

I brought my Bulbasaur back in the ball and then gave it to Chancey to heal. We, of course, would go for the Pokemon center but for now, she would take care if Bulbasaur suffered from some grave injuries. I was asked to come to the office of the host for registration inquiries.

Bulbasaur had been defeated too easily even if the opponent was Gyarados. Gyarados while being a strong Pokemon should have some difficulties tearing down Bulbasaur which is usually famed for its Endurance.

Is this due to the fact that she is young? she is just a little over 2 months but at the same time the level of Pokemon should matter, not its age.

Or it could be that she did not have any Endurance training, for the most part of the journey, I was holding her in my arms while she used Vine whips and Razor leaf while being upon me. While it could have been dangerous, I enjoyed this part of the journey but it had now returned and bite me in my back.

She had walked not even half of the distance from Palet town to here.

While making baseless conjectures, I reached the office where they again asked me for my name and Pokedex Id. I was not saddened by my defeat, it was set in stone as a Gyaradoevlves at level 20 and the opponent was somewhat of a good strategist when he fooled me faking the use of Twister.

I just had an idea about what to train with my Bulbasaur.

I came back to Chancey and took the Pokeball to head to the Pokemon center.

After checking up on my Bulbasaur she returns with her Pokeball and I brought her out of the constraint.

"Bulba~" As expected her mood was down and she was looking down instead of looking at me.

"What happened?" "Bulba Bulba saur."

"So? We were meant to get defeated there. Didn't you listen when the lady said before we are to lose there?" "Bulba?"

"This battle was out the first battle, this is a lucky battle which means if we lose there, we won't lose after that." Bulba?!" Yes, I was tricking her but nobody could see her sad like this and I am not one of the best counselors.

"Don't worry, from now on I will up your training, you will start running and agility training for your speed and Endurance to increase." "Bulba saur Bulba!" She was still sad but with the chance to improve herself to not lose she forced herself to move to me and respond.

"Good, let's go to the outskirts, you and I will together start our Endurance training. Chancey will be our chef from now on."

"Chancye chan- chance"

"Because if I don't train with her, I would get weaker and I want not my Pokemon, but to train with my Pokemon, this should be the least a Pokemon should expect from a trainer.

We were leaving the center when suddenly a white light engulfed the center from behind, which was coming from the spot Bulbasaur was a second ago.
