The New Fake Friend

I am trying really hard to hold it."

The next morning was new and fresh with new hope and happiness, but I wasn't able to forget what happened last night. But anyway, I had to get ready and leave for the breakfast table. I found my friends in the middle row and approached them. Jenney noticed me and smiled waving at me indicating to come over.

Jenney said-" Good morning Shawna"

I replied-" Good morning everyone"

I noticed they were a little off from the rest of the days.

I asked-" What happened? Seem something wrong with you guys.!"

Brad spoke looking up at me-" Why didn't you tell us? I thought we are your friend"

I replied in confusion-" Didn't tell you what?"

Brad replied-" About you being related to the golden wand and prophecy."

I replied-" What? What prophecy?"

John replied in between-" You have no idea what that wand is about right?"

I replied in anger-" Can anyone tell me what exactly is going on? Why does everyone keep talking about the mystery something about the wand? And nobody intends to clarify anything to me?"

Junnie said-" Calm down, we thought you knew and didn't tell us in purpose"

I said-" Well I don't. I have no idea about this wand, My mom before she died she wrote me a letter that I have a family too, which is probably in Wizard land. Then I found grandma, she asked me to get the wand my father had left in the human world for me. I had no idea about any prophecy."

Brad replied-" We are sorry Shawna, we thought…"

I replied-" Guys, see I really think you guys as my friends. In fact the only friends I knew here. Don't ever think I will hide anything from you guys. And only yesterday I came to know about the history of the wand, But that too, professor Dunston stopped in the middle and went away."

Jenney said-" Professor Dunston told you?"

I replied-" Only partly. Then she left. I was about to ask you guys if you would know anything."

Just then, Professor Dunston, professor Mecoy, and Principal Malcom arrived.

Professor Dunston said-" Good morning everyone, I suppose the breakfast is over, Now everyone must return to their classes, as accordingly, Seniors will leave first and then after the juniors."

Everyone followed the instructions and left for the class. After seniors left from there, we began to move too.

Professor Dunston asked-" Parshawna Macduff, Please wait before the principal's lobby."

I didn't understand much and looked to my friends before I left from there. I came and waited outside the principal's cabin. After some time I saw grandma Walked in with Principal Malcom. I was a little confused about what was exactly going on. After some time I was called inside the cabin. I looked at grandma and asked-" Grandma? Why are you here? What's going on?"

She replied-" Well, dear nothing important as of you should know, Just came to meet Mr. Malcom, thought to see you too. How are you, my dear?"

I replied-" I am good grandma"

Principal Malcom said-" Parshawna, how are you feeling in school? Is everything going all right?"

I replied-" Oh yes, Everything is fine, except everyone here is hiding something from me."

Professor Dunston Scold me-" Parshawna Macduff, behave yourself, You must not speak this way in front of principal"

Principal Malcom shushed Professor Dunston and said-" I am sure, she is a good girl, Just that she is a little bit in confusion. Parshawna my dear take a seat."

I sat on the chair beside grandma.

Principal Malcom said-" we were discussing the dreams that causing disturbance to you, So we took a decision, which is why you were called here."

I replied looking at them in a confusion-" What decision?"

He replied-" My dear, the wand that you have possessed great powers. I am sure, as the wand has chosen you, you the perfect master of it, but right now, you are young and do not have the proper experience to handle the wand. So we have decided, we will keep it in a safe place for you"

For a moment I felt they were trying to take away the wand from me. I heard a whisper-" Please don't let me be away from you, I can protect you" I was a bit confused about what to do. But I was sure they were hiding something from me, and I need to find it out. So I cannot take the risk of losing the wand, but how do I say no?

I replied-" No, I…I mean, I don't want to move away from its responsibility. If the wand chose me, I shall take its responsibility."

Grandma said-" But dear, it is powerful for you to handle alone"

I replied-" I… I am not alone, everyone is here. And don't you trust me, grandma?"

She replied with a pause-" I do but I think you should use a normal wand, for now, When you become a good witch I will return it to you I promise."

I replied aggressively-" No!!! I don't want it to give away!"

Principal Malcom replied-" Calm down. Okay, so let's do it this way. You use an ordinary wand-like everyone else in the school, I will keep it in your room, but somewhere safe for anyone to reach it. Once you become good in spells and You really need the wand, It will find you the way it found you last time!"

I thought it over and it was at least better than grandma taking it away from me. I replied-" Okay".

Principal Malcom, Grandma, and Professor Dunston went to my room and asked me to wait outside. They cast a spell and hide it in my room. When they came outside, and went inside my room, and searched for the wand, it was nowhere to be found. I looked at principal Malcom, he replied-" You can trust us Miss Parshawna."

His words felt true and I trusted them, I hugged grandma once before she left for the kingdom. Professor Dunston said-" Now you must return to your class, and shall not discuss these things with anyone else."

I nodded and left. When I reached my class I saw the class had already been started by Professor Hyle.

I asked-" May I come in professor?"

She looked at me and nodded-" Yes, Yes come in Miss. Macduff. Please find yourself a seat as we have already started the class. I found Jenny and Junnie had saved me a seat. I went to them and sat beside them.

Jenney asked-" What happened?"

I replied-" Grandma came, principal Malcom and professor Dunston were also there, they said I should not use the Golden wand instead I should use a normal wand. They have hidden it somewhere."

Junnie replied-" Professor Hyle also asked us not to talk about the wand anymore"

I said-" they are clearly hiding something from me. I need to find out."

Professor Hyle noticed me talking with my friends and she said-" Miss Macduff? Do we have a problem here?"

I replied-" No, professor" I looked down.

She replied-" Then we should focus on the spells rather than talking in the class right?"

I replied-" Yes of course Professor"

I sat down and looked at my books, I noticed Priam staring at me, I ignored him to save the trouble.

She said-" So dear students, now our professor Mecoy will join us for the reciting of basic spells that we will start today"

Professor Mecoy entered and he started engaging us with the spells. He said-" We will recite today a few spells that we are going to use in our next class, everyone should write it down. So students, Does anyone can tell me, how many basic defense spells are there in total?"

Jenney replied-"forty-two sir." Standing up.

Professor Mecoy looked at her and nodded-' Vey good. Miss. Dutcher. please take your seat. Now, we are going to learn the first basic ten spells as of for now okay?"

Everyone replied-" yes sir"

He started reciting each spell with the meaning.

" 1. Invisibilia Murum-' Defence against the invisible force wall.'

Anceps ergo figura ranae-' Reverse the spell to defend against other by shapeshifting to a frog'

Objecto tenentes in aerem-' Holding an object in the air with force'

Se Invisibilia-' Become invisible for few minutes'

Volat per aer-' Flying in the air'

Ruit ad Muros-' Using the force to crash someone or some object will wall'

Defensionem Adversus Plantae-' Defence against the planetary spell'

Defensionem contra-' reverse spell to the defense any spell'

Liquidum facit obiectum-' Making any object into liquid form'

Ferro-' Making any object or fabric in real iron statue'

Write it down everybody, and before we leave the class for the day, Let me tell, after lunch we will practice these spells with our wand, so be ready and see you there"

He left the class for the break. But now the golden wand being gone, I don't have another wand with me, and also I have a practice class just after the break. While I was thinking all these, Professor Mecoy approached me.

Professor Mecoy called out my name-" Miss. Macduff!!!"

I replied-" Yes professor?"

He said-" I might have something you need come."

He took me to his cabin, while I stood before the table, he searched eloquently for something.

He murmured to himself-" It should be somewhere here…. Ahh!!! Got it. He came down with a wand in hand and handed it over to me. He said-" You might need this"

I looked at the wand carefully taking it in my hand and I found two names engraved in it, which say "Always and forever Gracious & Jonney". It was from my parents'. But how does mom's name engraved in it, she was a human. Knowing my concern from my face he replied-" I remember when little Jonney was in our school. He was the best student we had. And then he met your mother outside this world and they fell in love, that was the time, he got caught reciting spell outside the school to engrave their names in this wand. He was punished. But he still wanted to have the wand. During his last days this at this school, he lost his wand and was sad for many days. Luckily I, who found it, kept it safe here. And today you must take it."

I was happy to get a part of my parent's memory. I accepted the wand and said-" Thank you so much, professor"

He replied-" No problem".

His face seemed relieved from a burden after years, but I ignored everything in the happiness of getting my father's wand. I was going to my friends to tell them about this and I accidentally bumped into Jennifer.

Jennifer screamed-" Excuse you. Oh it's you"

I replied-" I am sorry" and started leaving from there in a hurry. But she intended for a conversation. She said-" you should be."

I looked back and said-" What?"

She replied-" Who do you think you are? Mudblood?."

I replied aggressively-" What are you talking about?"

She replied-" Oh just and next ambitious little brat mudblood like your mother. She was a traitor of this kingdom, and you…"

It got way over my head when she talked about my mom. I replied-" Jennifer, do not bring my mom in this. If you have a problem with me talk it out directly."

She replied-" What should I probably talk with a traitor's daughter?"

I took out my wand and was ready to fight her just then, professor Dunston arrived. She roared-" Enough!!!. Both of you to my office now."

All the other students were watching our fight and we're talking about something behind our back. We went to professor Dunston's office and stood before her table. She called out another student to ask what exactly had happened there. When she came to know about the truth, she immediately called her house captain and complained of her being. She said to the captain-" It was to be your responsibility to look out for your team member. And Jennifer we will not tolerate this in our school."

Jennifer replied in anger-" My father is…"

She stopped her immediately and replied-" Do not show us who is your parents, we treat everyone equally here. And for your behavior today you will say sorry to Miss. Macduff in front of everyone and also 50 marks from your house has been deducted due to your behavior today."

She was in anger but had to say sorry to me in front of everyone. We left from there. And today I got a new fake friend in the school.
