The Awakening (Turning Point 2)

(14 years and 1 month after Reincarnation)

[Kyrielle's POV]

(Klada Outskirts, besides Lake Gwen's aqueduct)

"We are in position." Said our team leader, a Master ranked mage as he stops all of us.

Right now, I am amongst a large group of mages... about 3 people. 8 of us were adventurers while the rest are soldiers from the military that guards this city.

"Remember everyone, when I give the order you may fire at will. Otherwise please coordinate your attacks into waves. Ice magic is the best against the slime, and fire magic is not recommended because it's resistant to heat."

"Yes sir!" (?x)

Slimes are highly resistant to Fire Magic, this would be a problem as my best spells are all fire based.

Maybe Forbidden Sun might pack enough power in it to ignore the fire resistance of the slime because even though it is resistant to heat it isn't totally immune to it. If I blast it with fire magic for long enough, I don't think it can survive.

But regardless, I should still hold back for now. My spells might accidentally blow something up, and I don't want to accidentally kill a teammate because my spells are too powerful and large scale.

As we stood out in the open, an army gathered in front of us about 50 meters away. It is a 100 man army, mixed with adventurers and soldiers in the city. The best warriors of this place.

"There may be reinforcement soldiers coming from the lower grounds, but that'll take time... We are on our own for now, so don't expect any help."

'Hoo....' The cold Spring wind blew at all of us, creating a sense of tension that I've never felt before.

"....Here it comes." When our team leader said that, all of us looked over at the aqueduct about 150 meters away....

The aqueduct started shaking.... First it's really mild, but then it grows increasingly more violent until the entire thing is starting to break down.

"Now! Fire at the aqueduct and don't hold back!"

"Yes!" (?x)

Everyone around me started to chant for magic... I guess I should fire out a small Forbidden Sun at it.

'Bang!' (?x) As I fired my spell towards the aqueduct, the rest of the mages around me started to do so as well after they chanted for a while...

'Boom!' (?x) I could see countless trails of magic flying, hitting the aqueduct and destroying it bit by bit. After that wave of bombardment, the aqueduct finally collapsed.

'Thump....' Liquid spilled out of the opened aqueduct like water tap, is that the slime?

"It's spiling out water?"

"Where's the slime?"

"Look closely... The water is the slime."

The water that was spilled out of the aqueduct started gathering.... forming into a large blob of moving liquid.

As the liquid kept spilling from the aqueduct without pause, the slime started to gather more and more mass.

"...Everyone, let's bring that thing down before it grows bigger!"

"Yes!" (?x)

'Bang!' Once again, the entire mage squadron started to chant and fire off spells at the same time. I once again fired off a small Forbidden Sun at the slime.

'Boom!' All the spells flew and hit the slime that was gathering, covering it entirely in explosions and impact, generating a smoke screen that onstructed the view.

"Nothing can survive this much damage, it's done for!"

"Wait.... It's not effective."

When the smoke screen clears, I could see that the display of fireworks did nothing against the still-growing slime.... Worst off, it seems to have grown even bigger.

"What?! It survived?!"

"Don't be shakened, fire another volley at it! Don't let it breathe!"

We continued our bombardment at the slime but even after we fired two more waves of magic at the slime, it still didn't looked like it had taken any damage whatsoever.

"Goo..." The slime made a loud rumbling sound after the water from the aqueduct stopped spilling.

"Oh my god... It's huge!"

The aqueduct itself is a tall structure about 20 meters up in the air... The fully formed slime was just as tall as the aqueduct, but spands for about 3 times in width. It could devour an entire village like a flood if it wanted to.

"Look at the size of that thing!"

"Its a god damned moving lake!"

"Will our spells even work?!"

The slime starts to head towards our direction, sensing hostility from us...

Then from the army situated right in front of us, a rider quickly ran up to the leader of our squadron and talked to him.

"We'll distract the monster, please do your best to bring that thing down!"

"Very well. Mages, you may fire at will!"

"Understood!" (?x)

The mages around started to bombard the slime with even stronger spells and attacks... But the result is just as you guessed, useless.

After about a minute of moving, the slime had finally gotten within 50 meters of range to us, and about 10 meters to the 100-man army.

'Phiuc!' (?x) Multiple jet of liquid fired out from the slime, intercepting both our spells and also hitting the soldiers underneath.

"Don't stop firing! Overwhelm that thing before it can reach us!"

As we continued to fire our, less and less spells were able to hit it as it got closer and closer. The soldiers in front couldn't do a single thing to the slime, and was forced to slowly retreat backwards as the slime pushes forward with brute force alone.

'Phiuc!' (?x) With even more streams of liquid firing out from the slime, the entire scene was a chaotic mess of projectiles and explosions.

More and more people in the front started to collapse on the ground probably dead from the slime's attack, some have even started to run.

At this ratex we'll lose this battle for real. I should've used my fire magic sooner... now that it's so close, I can't hit it without putting the soldiers in danger! I've made a big fucking mistake, I could've saved the battle.

'Phiuc!' A stream shot at my face and by reflexes, I leaned my head to the sides to dodge it. But....

'Thud!'

"Argh! I've been hit! It's burning!"

"The slime was firing parts of itself out like arrows, and it's eating away at his flesh!"

Because I dodged the attack, someone else behind me got hit instead. Now that the slime has entered the range where it can hit us mages, we have been overwhelmed.

"Damn, I'm out of mana!"

"Me too! I'm running low!"

Except me, no one can fire off so many spells without losing all of their Mana.

And the entire plan fell apart, and the soldiers who have been keeping most of the slime's attack away from us is now scaterred like dust in the wind.... It's a failure.

"Tsk!... Everyone, strategic retreat now! Pull back into the city!"

"Y-yes!" (?x)

We all turned tails and ran the way we came... The city is in view at this distance and there's no doubt that the slime will follow us back to the city but we have no choice. There's no way we could've stopped this thing after all.

'Phiuc!' (?x) As we ran, countless streams of liquid shot out at us, but none of them hit anyone luckily.

"This fight was a total disaster, that thing is invulnerable!"

"If you have the breath to talk why not focus on running?!"

"....." With the soldiers all scattered, now I don't have to worry about hitting anyone with my fire magic.... It's the perfect chance.

I don't want to fight this monstrosity by myself but if it gets into New Klada it'd be over. I don't want my new home to be destroyed again.

There's only one natural option to choose here.... I'll stop holding back and finish this thing by myself as I had underestimated it's strength.

Thruster Flight!

'Bwuom!' With my thruster, I took to the sky and dashed forward to the leader.

"Leader, I'll try to fight that thing by myself. My large scaled spells might be able to damage it!"

"What?! This is suicide, there's no way you can handle it alone even if you can damage it!"

"But there's no god damned way I'm letting that thing into MY home! I have to try no matter what!"

"You..."

I've only made it home a month ago, I don't want to see it destroyed again. Mom and I went through so much trouble renovating the new house, I don't want to see it destroyed either.

"Besides, I am faster than anyone here since I can fly! At the very least I can buy some time for the people in the city to evacuate."

I could see the captain's reluctance to accept my selfish request, but he complied anyway because he has no choice.

"...What's your name girl?!"

"Kyrielle!"

"Okay Kyrielle, we'll be counting on you! Just don't die!"

"Alright!"

I immediately stopped running, and then turned around.

"Within the very lands lies an impenetrable wall...."

'Phiuc!' (?x)

"Earth Wall!"

'Thump!'' Using the earth wall as cover, I hid myself behind it and started casting my spell.

Four-fold casting : Forbidden Suns

Once I had prepared the magic crests that floats above me, I dashed out from the wall.

'Bang!' (?x) Firing four spells at the same time, I bombarded the gigantic slime with my barrage of Forbidden Suns.

'Boom!' (?x) But none of my spells seems to have even scratch it.

'Phiuc!' (?x)

"Shit!" I jumped back into cover when the slime fired back at me.

....If Lynn was here she'd have froze this entire thing with a single ice magic, but I am not going to lose to her!

If I charged up a Forbidden Sun large enough to cover myself, that should act as a shield in and of itself. But first, a power boost.

Dragonic Burst!

"Yargh!!!..."

I dashed out from the cover again.

....Quad Charged Forbidden Sun.

Gathering a large amount of Mana and extending it to my arm, a large ball of fire about the size of a boulder formed in front of me. Charging it with winds using mana balls, the color of the flames slowly turn from red, to orange and then to yellow....

The snow surrounding me has completely melted from the heat generated by the spell, I could feel my skin burning from the heat alone.

This is the most powerful form of Forbidden Sun, my strongest attack....

"It's over!" 'Bang!!!'

Immediately after I fired the spell, I deactivated my Dragonic Burst to conserve Mana.

'Boom!!!'

[Third Person POV]

"Wait, that girl is fighting the giant slime alone!"

As the group of mages and soldiers regrouped while they ran back to the city, they noticed Kyrielle had been fighting the slime all by herself while they were running.

"We can't just let her do the heavy lifting, we should head back and-"

The leader of the mage squadron quickly refuted him. "Don't be stupid, you'll only get in the way! Her magic is way more powerful than anyone of us here, if she can't defeat it then no one can even with our help."

"But she's just a girl..."

"The best we can do right now is to retreat, reinforce ourselves and prevent the slime from entering the city by barricading the gate. She's buying us invaluable time!"

'Bang!!!' A loud and powerful sound of Kyrielle's magic firing out was heard.

"Look, her spell seems to be promising!"

'Boom!!!' A massive explosion happened and covered the entire slime, the impact itself shaking the very hills they stand on.

"It's working! Her attacks are working!"

A chunk of the slime was blown up by Kyrielle's spell, blasting off bits and splashes over the entire field. However....

"....No, it's still unaffected!"

The chunks of slime that was blasted off started to move, and slowly regathered together....

"The slime formed into two halves?!"

"If it's smaller it'll move faster... And now she'll have to worry about two of them at the same time!"

"She may be powerful but... Without any ice magic of that scale, brute force alone wouldn't do the trick. Let us retreat quickly, we don't have much time!"

"....Yes sir...." (?x)

[Kyrielle's POV]

"Tsk, this bastard has now became two bastards.... What a headache."

As if one of this damned thing isn't difficult enough, now it has became two and moved twice as fast as it did before.

'Phiuc!' (?x) As the two slimes fired at me again with their jet streams, I dashed to the skies to avoid being shot. For now I need to leave the effective range of it's attacks and come up with a plan.... Brute force wouldn't work after all.

It's no use attacking the two main body... None of my spells seems to be hurting it that much other than changing it's shape and splitting off more enemies for me to deal with.

The two slimes saw my maneuver to try and get away.... A large bubble formed on one of the giant slime's body, and then bursts out.

'Bwush!' An large stream of liquid shot out from the bubble with immense speed, I can't dodge in time!

"Shit!" By reflexes, I aimed my thrusters to the stream and fired it at the stream in hopes of deflecting it....

Incinerate!

'Bwuom!!!' (2x)

'Splash!'

Luckily, it worked. But my fire wasn't hot enough to evaporate the liquid instantly, and as a result, some of the slime juice splashes onto my shirt.... My shirt is now physically melting away.

"Fucking hell, it's eating away at my shirt?!"

'Bwuom!' I quickly flew even higher up to the sky to get to safety.... Up there, I carefully removed my clothes without touching the slime juice, until I'm left with just my undershirt.

"I'll make you pay for that... Combustion."

With my flames I burned the shirt that was being eaten. It was then that I noticed... my fire was able to burn the slime that had stained and eaten my shirt.

"Interesting, it seems to not be invulnerable to magic.... That's right, surface area!"

The less mass something has, the more surface area it has when ratio'ed to it's mass.

In short it means that I can shave off chunks of the slime out from the main body, and then erase the smaller parts with my fire magic, Divide and Conquer!

But that will take too much time if I want to stop it from entering the city.... Now that it's even faster than before, there's no way I can do this trick without it reaching the city first.

And I still have to worry about my spell hitting the city. If I want to kill this thing, I have to lure them away from the city.

But.... How do I do so? It has it's eyes on me the entire time but it's still making its way to the city now. Does it just see the bigger target and go after it?

....Wait, how can it even see in the first place? That blob has no eyes to begin with, this doesn't make any sense!

Come to think of it, all of the slime's attack was far too accurate to be just guess work... It knew exactly where and at what direction I was flying at, and almost got me right as I was flying!

To my knowledge besides eyes there's only one other way that something can see without eyes.... it's Mana Aura!

All creatures in this world have a Mana Aura, my guess is that this thing relies on sensing Mana Auras in order to know where it's prey is at.

If I unleashes all of my Mana Aura like a flare until it is large enough, I may be able to attract this thing to me because I might be 'tastier' than the normal humans with weak mana. And if I can make it focus only on myself, I might just be able to kill it alone.

"Alright.... Let's do this."

'Bwuom!' I unleashed all of my Mana and let it flow around my body freely as I flew at the two slimes. In order to even increase the intensity of my Mana Aura even further and make myself seem delicious;

Dragonic Burst!

I flew at the two slime until I'm within 100 meters again. "Come chase me!"

"Groo...." (2x)

'Phiuc!' (?x)

It seems that my plan worked.... The two slimes has now shifted their course and turned their attention on me, firing all they have at me whilst chasing after me.

I flew directly away from the city and back to the direction of Lake Gwen, when the monster came from. Keeping myself just out of range of the slime's attacks, it took me a minute to lure it back to where it started.... the aqueduct.

Now it's time to execute operation Divide and Conquer!

Quad Charged Forbidden Sun.

This time I'm taking extra consideration in aiming my attack.... I don't want to hit the slime right in the center, but instead I want to just take off chunks of the sides and then scorch the chunks. I need to aim carefully.

A bit more to the sides.... There. 'Bang!!!'

'Boom!!!' My spell punched right where I want it to be, and part of the slime was taken off. Again!

'Boom!!!' Aiming my spell at the chunk, I blew the entire part up and made a huge crater in the hill. It worked, the chunk was destroyed by my spells!

"Groo...." Seemingly knowing that it had taken a huge blow, the two slimes started to merge back together in order to make itself more resilient. But it's too late for that!

'Boom!!!' Yet another chunk was blown off from the main body... But then right as I was about to fire another Forbidden Sun at the chunk....

"Urgh...." I'm starting to get dizzy headed just like last time when I was travelling with mom... My head feels light and my leg loses strength as I drop to the floor.

"Damn it... not now...."

I struggle to keep myself awake....

Yet again, I heard the voice of a woman call out to me. "Let me out...."

"Shut... up!... Urgh..."

I can't.... I'm fainting....

...No, I can't.... I have to fight!

I bit on my tongue with all of my strength. The pain from it keeps me from losing my consciousness.

"Urgh!..." Blood starts to drop down my mouth like barrel with a hole in it, but I didn't care. What's more important now is to fight this monster!

Quad Charged Forbidden Sun!

'Boom!!!' I fired yet another spell at the chunk of the slime, blowing it up.

When I was struggling to keep myself awake, the two slime had already gathered together and formed into one big slime again. But this time, it is much much smaller in size because I had already taken two chunks off of it.

I was about to fire yet another Forbidden Sun at it but my dizziness got even worse... I can almost see the ground itself spinning... I can't even aim properly anymore.

It was then all of a sudden.... I lost control of my Mana Aura. It feels as if my entire body went out of my control and was forcibly shut down, a burning pain stings my entire body. What the hell is going on?!...

"Urgh.... Argh!!!.... Argh!!!"

Red colored Aura starts to come out and covered my entire body.... The aura shone brightly, covering my body like my Mana Shield. It was then;

'Boom!' A small explosion happened in my place, the red aura no longer covers my body. But what was left in place is not my normal body....

"What...."

The first thing I noticed was that my arms were covered entirely with dark red colored scales. Sharp pointy claws extend out of my nails like a bear, I can claw out someone's neck as easily as paper.

"What the hell?"

'Bzzz...' Electricity sparked out of my body, as if filled to the brim with energy that is leaking out in the form of these small sparks.

I could feel something protruding from my shoulders.... I looked over my back and saw that it is a pair of red colored wings, wrapped to my back like a trench coat.

On my face are scales as well, and on my head is two straight protruding horns slicked backwards in an angle. My hair is instead turned into an aura resembling my twin tails and my hair, attached to my head with the horns.

My leg had grown thicker, and has the same scales on it. But this time, my foot has turned into a dragon's talons with three big claws extending out, capable of acting as knifes with my kicks.

"I've turned into a monster?..." The sound that came out of my mouth sounds distorted and devilish, like I was speaking out of an electric fan. All of my teeth has turned into sharp fangs as well, capable of just mauling off someone's arm.

Why am I making so much comparison to killing people? And is this my dragonic form....?

"Groo...."

'Phiuc!' While I was busy with checking my new body, the slime had already gotten in range and fired a stream at my body.

'Splash!' The jet stream hits my body, but instead of punching a hole through me it was stopped by my Mana Shield that was far stronger than before.

With a flick of my fingers, I scorched the small slime that is stuck to my body.

While my body has the same red colored scales as my arms and legs, it is mostly muscles and skin.... My body retained the feminine shape of my human body.

"This...." But most importantly, my body feels extremely light. I could sense all the Mana around my body like it was a natural extension of my body.

I feel so powerful.... So fast and so much physical strength.... My wounds healed almost instantly.... I feel so much power from just being in this form, it gives me a sense of confidence and safety that I've never felt before.... But it also makes me want to hurt the closest living thing next to me....

I could feel Mana flowing to my pair of wing. If I stretch it out and pour Mana into them....

"Groo...." 'Phiuc!'

The slime fired yet another stream at me... But I could see and even react to the jet stream this time, it's too slow.

'Bwuom!' With my expanded wings, I flew upwards to the sky with enough speed to dodge the attack. I can even hover in place without flapping my wings at all because I am actually using Mana to fly.

I could feel that I have so much control over my body's Mana now it's insane.... and addicting. I know for a reason that if I tried flying with my thrusters now I'd reach a speed that is so insanely fast it'd be unreal and extremely exciting....

I'm so excited.... I want to test out my power. I want to kill something. I want to bare my fangs, and burn this fucking slime. I want to hurt it, and torment it with my superior power....

...What the hell am I thinking? I don't want to hurt someone that badly... I don't enjoy torturing creatures.... What's going on with me... Am I going crazy with power?!

"Urgh... Forbidden Sun...." With one hand aiming out at the slime, I mindlessly casted a Quad Charged Forbidden Sun.

The ball of inferno started to grow bigger and bigger as it's color changes from red to orange, then to yellow, then to white.... My spell is now far stronger than it ever was before, and I haven't even charged it up for long.

"....Die."

'Bang!!!'

'Bwush!' At a last ditch effort, the slime fired out a powerful stream of liquid to try and intercept my spell.... But it's impossible to stop this Forbidden Sun unless you are Lynn.

The white colored ball of destruction punched right through the stream and into the body of the massive slime, a blinding light flashes through the body of the slime, and then....

'Boom!!!' An extremely powerful explosion far stronger than any I've ever shot out before happened. It blew up into an enormous cloud of flames, boiling and turning the entire slime into nothing as a mushroom cloud formed over the large smoking crater. A total annilation for the monster.

"What power...."

I slowly lowered myself down to the ground. As nausea kicks in again and making me feel light headed, I couldn't keep control of this body....

"Urgh.... So this is.... True Dragonic Burst...."

All of my scales, wings and horns dissipates into red aura again, returning me to my normal and frail human body of a little girl.

Frail human body?... Why am I thinking like I'm not a human in the first place?...

Wait.... Who is thinking up all of this?.... Who are you?...

Who am I?.... I'm you, silly.

My head feels nauseous, my consciousness starts to drift.... I'm falling unconscious.

"Urgh.... I can't.... Anymore...."

'Thud!' I dropped face first into the ground as I feel my consciousness slips out.
