True Dragonic Burst (1)

"Zzz.... Mmm...." Where am I?....

"Urgh...." My head hurts....

I woke up on the couch of an office with a blanket covering my body.... it seems that someone took me in.

What happened back there? That's right, I heard someone intruding into my mind and influenicng my thoughts.... I turned into my demonic-looking dragon form and completely demolished that slime with just one attack. And then I fainted immediately after.

Looking around this room I noticed that it's an office, with a desk and many papers put around shelves. The rest of my things alongside my katana was put beside the couch that I was sleeping on.

"Urgh...." I got up from the couch with my head still in pain, and my eyes caught glance of my reflection in the mirror of the room.

....I am wearing nothing other than my underwear. I had undressed myself when that slime got onto my shirt afterall.

But what is more important now is not my exposed skin... But my eyes. "What in the...."

My right eye has turned gold in color.... Although my left eye is still in it's usual blue color, my right eye has turned gold in color like when I activates my Dragonic Burst.

But luckily it wouldn't seem out of place because my iris is still normal, not the vertical lines of a serpent's eye like when I activate my Dragonic Burst. I am heterochromic now, with a blue and golden eye.

'Cha chank.' Someone opened the door to the room.

"!" Shit, I'm still undressed!

An old man walks in through the door, seemingly unaware of my presence until he's already inside the room. His eyes finally saw me, and....

"Opps, I'm sorry." He quickly turned his face away.

I quickly got over to the couch and took the blanket to wrap around my body.... Although it's embarrassing, that old man seems like a priest and isn't a creep.

"...It's fine now, just don't stare."

"How rude am I, having so rudely barged into the room without checking if you were awake first.... Are you alright? Have you taken any damage?"

"I'm fine, just a painful headache.... But who are you?"

I took a better look at the priest... He's an old man with his withered skin and white hair who seems to be busy with paperwork as he walks over to the desk writing into a  paper.... But I also noticed something else.

Just like me, he's heterochromic. One of his eyes is brown, while the other is red in color. He has a magic eye of wisdom, just like the bishop of Klada in the past who discovered that I was a dragonkin.

"Excuse me for not introducing myself first. I am Gabriel, the archbishop of the church, and some also call me the Divine Pioneer.... During your battle with the Hundred-Slime, you fainted and was brought back to here to be nursed back to health."

"I see...."

(AN : There are four Pioneers of the star in this world. Lynn is the Magic Pioneer, and Gabriel is the Divine Pioneer, a really powerful priest capable of casting city-scale miracles.)

"I'd have left you in the sickbay, but it seems that you are half naked so... I thought I'd at the very least bring you somewhere more private."

"Thank you." While I am half dressed, it seems that he didn't lay a finger on me while I was unconscious.... He's okay.

"Now I hope you don't mind me asking so many questions but.... just what are you?"

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me. No girls your age could defeat an A ranked threat by herself. Just who are you?"

...I guess I should tell him. No sense in hiding my secret to him of all people when his magic eye can just gaze right at me and tell him what he wants to know.

"...I am Kyrielle Buffet. I have a dragon's soul residing inside my body."

"I see.... A dragon's soul, so you are a dragonkin. That explains your power, as well as that golden colored eye of yours. No normal humans have golden eyes, only serpents."

"You have a point."

"Well, that answers all my questions. If you do not require any healing miracles, then go home and rest. It's rather awkward for me to talk to and even keep a half naked young girl in my office.... people may misunderstand. Here, you can take my robe."

He took off his white colored priest robe and threw to me for me to cover up my body.

"Thank you.... Then, I'll be off."

After I put on the white robe to cover my body, took my katana that was put to the side, I stood up from the couch and headed off to the door.

"By the way, once you have rested you may want to pay a visit to the adventurer's guild. The slime's kill was credited entirely to you, you should receive a large sum of reward."

"I will do so after tomorrow.... Now, I need some good pain killers."

It was an awkward trip back home when I'm almost entirely naked.... Luckily, I didn't draw any attention to myself and made it home without much trouble.

(The next day....)

"Zzz.... Mmm..."

Is it morning already?.... I'm still so sleepy....

"Yawn..." Mom should be making breakfast today.... At least I don't have to worry about that-

Wait.... Mom left. She left in search of my sister, she's not here in Klada.

"....Sigh, what a mood killer." Welp, it's time to wake up anyway.

Still in my pajamas, I made my way down stairs with a sleepy head and headed off to the bathroom....

Doing my business as usual, I went over to the sink and washed my face with the water tap. 'Splash!'

How convenient. Back in the old Klada, there's no irrigation system and we have to physically keep our water in the tank.... it is far easier to get water now.

I put some of the water into my mouth and rinsed my mouth.... Why does the water taste weird? Am I drinking slime water?

Eh, who cares it's probably safe.

I took the straw brush, put a handful of salt with charcoal to use as toothpaste and then put it in my mouth to brush my teeth.

When I look into the mirror, I saw a figure with a face with sharp features, a body full of red scales, two straight protruding horns on the head, and a pair of golden serpent eyes. A devilish looking monster.

"What?!" 'Thud!' Surprised by the image, I jumped backwards and banged my head onto the concrete wall....

"Ouch...." I looked at the mirror again, and that demon was gone. What I saw now is the normal reflection of myself, with my new heterochromic eyes reflecting in the mirror.

Was it just my imagination? That 'demon' I saw just now actually looked a lot like my Dragonic form.... I checked my body again just to make sure, and I'm in my human body. "Strange...."

Something weird is happening to me with all the weird hallucinations I'm having recently.... Is this Red's influence on my body?

Well, I don't think this is something serious... I still have to worry about breakfast.

(2 hours later....)

I made some simple sandwiches for breakfast and headed out to the adventurer's guild to claim my reward for beating the monster yesterday.

Upon entering the guild, a staff member saw me and seem extremely excited.

"It's you! You're back!"

"Yes... I've heard that there is a reward for me."

"Indeed, come over to the counter immediately and show me your adventurer card."

"Okay....?"

I did as she asked and she excited took my card, threw it into a box and from a small box to the side of the counter, took out another platinum colored card and handed it to me.

"Congratulations, you are now an S ranked adventurer!"

".....Huh?"

I was C ranked before.... right? Did I just jumped three ranks ahead and went straight into S rank?

While the guild is not busy at this hour, there are still quite a few people inside and they all heard the commotion.

"Hey look at her, a new S ranked adventurer!"

"Oh yeah, she's the girl who stopped that monster! We owe her the entire city."

Their cheers and praises only made me more awkward....

"Umm, am I seriously promoted so much from just killing a single monster?"

"Of course, it is thanks to you that we are all able to sleep in our houses last night instead of running for our lives. You are our hero!"

"I think calling me a hero is a bit much.... I just did what I had to do, protect the city."

"But regardless of that your strength is still extraordinary. You truly deserve the S ranking and also the perks that come along with it."

The S ranked adventurer's card is not just a rank... It's a status, a title. Many people will come and find you for jobs just because you are that powerful, and there are specialized jobs for S ranked people which pays extremely well.

"I see...."

"Of course we've prepared monetary reward as well! The guild will pay you 10 gold coins for the kill, thank you for your hardwork."

"10 gold coins?!" That's like 100k USD! Most people's annual salary aren't even that high!

"Yes. Would you like to receive the money now or leave it in the bank?"

".....Leave it."

"Very well. Is there anything else we can help you with?"

"...No, thank you for your service."

What am I going to do with so much money?....

After a few days of considering, I decided to keep half of the money from the rewards. The other half of the money was donated to orphanages and nursing homes.

My savings for a 14 year old teenage girl is now too huge to be true... I have about 14 gold in my bank deposit, about 140k USD. More than enough to feed myself for years.

But still even with so many money and a platinum adventurer card, I still wanted to finish my school.... At Zoward's Academy. I should end what I started at least, and this is besides that I don't know what I should do now....

And so, there I went to the academy once again.

"Wow.... The school is still intact!"

During my month long stay here, I've never even once visited the school because I had no reason to. But now that I'm here, it seems that the school is not only perfectly intact after Klada Disaster, but it's even upgraded!

It's the same big mansion, with the large square windows and magnificent carvings on the wall.

"Interesting...." I walked into the school grounds after admiring the school's new look for a while.

Entering the lobby, I was greeted with an entirely new look of the school. What is this Harry Potter or something? The school looks so beautiful now!

"No way.... President?!" A staff member to the sides said that to me.

President... Now that's a nickname I was called back when I was the student council president.

"Hmm? Oh, it's Jeanne!" I instantly recognized the young girl working behind the counter... She's a student council member as well who's the same year as I am back then. It seems that she's now working in the school.

"It is really you, President Kyrielle! You made it back here!"

"Hahaha, it's so nice to see a fresh face again! You are working for the school now?"

"Yes! I finished my final term last year and is now working for the school to earn money before I get a job. But more importantly... what happened to you?! Were you teleported to a really far away place during the attack?!"

"Yeah, no jokes.... I was teleported to the demon continent."

"The demon continent?! And you made your way back here?!"

"Yes. It took me two years, but I made it home."

"That's insane.... But somehow I am not surprised that someone like you could pull that off. If it was me, I would've became monster food!"

"Well you are a capable mage yourself, you'd be able to defend yourself."

"Thank you, but what happened to your eyes? I don't remember you being heterochromic..."

Don't ask me, even I don't know why one of my eye changed into the gold color of when I activates my Dragonic Burst. My guess is that when I had transformed into my True Dragonic Burst, my eyes changed as a result.

"....A lot happened. But don't worry about my eyes, I can still see perfectly fine."

"Is that so?.... Anyway, why have you came here?"

"Isn't it obvious? To continue my fifth year!"

"Oh, of course! I shall tell the principal immediately!"

"Principal Jack? He's alive?"

"Yes. I shall lead you to him-"

"Actually, I can do that myself. I remember where his room is."

"I see, that saves me the trouble then. But why are you carrying that sword around?"

"Huh?"

I subconsciously brought my katana with me and had it strapped to my waist....

"Ahaha... It's just natural habit...."

"I don't think the school allows you to bring a weapon inside, even if you are the former president."

"Eh? But I'm reluctant to part with it.... It makes me feel safe."

"Well... You are still a visitor right now so it should be fine. But no repeated offense, understand?"

"Yes sir!"

"Okay, I will talk to you again after you've met with the principal. Good luck Kyrie!"

"You too, Jean."

I headed off into the new reformed school that is familiar to me already. I know the school's layout like the back of my hand after all. Walking in the hallway, I passed by a few classrooms with many students inside until I heard the very familiar tune.

'Pim pom pam pom!' The familiar ringing of that tune signifies that lunch break is now.

'Goo!' The sliding door to one of the classes opened, and came walking out is a kid about 10 years old, happily chatting with his friend until he bumps into me.

"Isn't that right?-"

'Thud!'

"Sorry- huh?"

"Don't worry about it." I said as I looked down at the short boy, right into his eyes.

"Eek! Please don't cut me down!"

"What? I'm not going to!"

I drew a lot of attention to myself because I was carrying a weapon into the school.... Maybe I should've listened.

After a strategic retreat, I managed to make it to the principal's office without attracting anymore trouble.

'Knock knock.'

"Principal."

"Come in."

'Cha chank.'

"Principal Jack, long time no see."

"Wait.... Kyrielle Buffet?"

"In person."

"So you are alive and made it back here... And now it all makes sense."

"What makes sense?"

"This." He said as he shows a section of the newspaper to me... Specifically, he showed me the section of the newspaper about the attack of the Hundred-Slime five days ago.

'-a teenager has single handledly defeated the monster with her powerful spells. Through her own effort New Klada was quite possibly saved from a monster that rivals a natural disaster itself-'

"Right.... Why did you assume I was the one who did it?"

"Well first off, I only know one such teenagwr that is so crazy. And second, I was just thinking how funny it would be if you were actually still alive and just destroyed the slime even though you haven't even finished your final year."

"You haven't changed one bit...."

"So, when are you attending school, President Kyrielle?"

"Eh? Isn't there any formalities or entrance exam?"

"Not required for you. I know your abilities, and you are still technically a student, there's no need to redo all the entrance exams and paperwork."

"I see. Thank you principal Jack, when can I reattend?"

"Hmm.... If you are fine with it, how about next week?"

"Sounds good. I'll see you then, goodbye."

"Take care, Kyrielle."

After bidding farewell with the principal, I headed out of the office and out towards the exit of the school.

One week from now on huh?... I wonder if I'll be able to enter the A class again?

I'll have to prepare my school uniform as well.... and some stationaries. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow.

This time I want my skirt to be shorter, so that it'd look cuter. I also don't want to join the student council again, I want to have my fifth year in a relaxing, normal school life way now that I've had the trouble of making it all the way back here.

"Ah well..." But there's two things I want to do first, preferably before I start school.

I want to find my friends.... And I want to try and activate my True Dragonic Burst again.

Out of those two, I can only do one, and it's activating my True Dragonic Burst. The feeling of power and safety I got when in my dragon form is addicting.... I want to have another taste of that power.

(AN : Without Kyrielle's notice, her personality had started to shift.... She has never cared much about power before this, but now she's slowly getting addicted to the sense of progression and confidence of achieving an enhancement in her power.

It's like a bodybuilder getting addicted to seeing the results of their training. She's slowly getting addicted to becoming stronger.....)

(Hills outside Klada)

I went to the place where I killed that Hundred Slime last week. A giant crater rests on the plains, like a lake. Snow is starting to melt around the place because it is getting warmer, and the crater is now starting to become a medium sized pond.

There's no one around right now, I don't have to worry about anyone seeing me.

"Well, here goes nothing.... Hmpt!"

True Dragonic Burst!

"....Nothing happened?"

Hmm.... Do I have to activate Dragonic Burst first?

Dragonic Burst!

'Fwuom....' The air around me distorts, and red aura started flowing out of my body. I could feel heat all over my body, enhancing my power by half a margin.

"Yes, this is my power. Now, True Dragonic Burst!"

....Yet again, nothing happened.

"Why isn't this working? Is there something missing?...."

Why can't I activate my power?!...

Wait, since when did I started to feel this way?... Since when have I liked getting stronger? But I feel an extreme urge to try this new power.... to seek to get even more power. Why?

What the hell is happening to me....?

"Slowly but surely.... We are becoming each other."

Who's talking again?!

I peeked around the entire plains and saw no one around me.

What in the world.... Recently I've started to hear more and more things that doesn't exists and I'm not even sure if it's just my mind playing tricks on me or if it's something more serious.... like schizophrenia.

"Tsk... Shut up." I said out of my mouth, in reply to the hallucination I had just now.

Red has no way to talk or even contact me other than when I am asleep.... It's not possible that she's talking to me. It must've been my mind that was playing tricks on me.

I can't activate True Dragonic Burst. I don't know why I can't do it like this, but my guess is that I can only activate it when I have another sudden nausea episode like last time.

For now, I have no way to test out this theory.... I should just make my way home and continue my day.
