Chapter 6

• Hisewaga Chisato

{Third Year of the Great Age of Pirates}

A massive island stretched across the horizon, and in its northern sector lay broken trees and numerous corpses belonging to amphibians, reptiles, and mammals.

The cause of this devastation was a huge, muscular man with smooth tan skin, glowing yellow eyes, sharp teeth, and wild black hair adorned with a scar on his lower cheek. He wore silver fur pelts, a ragged skirt with a thick silver fur waistline, and gold-trimmed white armor covering his right shoulder and groin.

"What are you inferior creatures doing? Come at me!" bellowed the man, relishing the fight—if it could even be called that.

Around him lay countless dead beasts, while a horde of surviving creatures glared menacingly at him, their instincts screaming at them to flee. Yet their beastly pride prevented them from showing any cowardice.

With savage roars that shook the ground, they charged at him all at once.

Suddenly, the man sensed his mistress's life force fading and immediately felt the presence of a newborn child through his Observational Haki.

"At last, my child is born," he muttered, blood dripping from his mouth as he spat out a beast's organ onto the ground.

He glanced at the remaining beasts and debated whether to kill them or let them live for his child to face in the future.

'They're perfect stepping stones for my kin,' he mused.

With that thought, his yellow aura exploded outward, intensifying the atmosphere and causing the beasts to collapse under its oppressive force. He then turned away from the fallen creatures and leapt multiple times toward his abode.

His home was a small, round log cabin surrounded by a wooden fence with a wooden gate. Patches of moss grew on the walls, blending with the surrounding nature to create a sense of serene beauty.

He opened the door and strode into the living room, leaving the door ajar. Inside, he saw a beautiful nurse cradling a small baby.

The nurse turned to face him with an apologetic expression, which instantly made the man worry.

"I managed to deliver the baby safely, but… your mistress did not survive, my lord," she said hesitantly, fear evident in her voice.

To her surprise, the man let out a relieved breath, his face relaxing. He glanced at her and then at the baby she was holding.

"I don't care. But don't make me worry like that again," he said irritably.

The nurse was stunned. She had anticipated anger or grief, imagining countless scenarios of his reaction to the mother's death. Yet his indifference left her speechless.

Nevertheless, it wasn't her concern. She disliked the man and couldn't wait to leave his presence forever.

"The task you forced upon me is done. Can you now take me back to my hometown? My family is waiting for me," she said, barely hiding her disdain.

"Ah, yes, you may return to your hometown—if you can manage it yourself," the man replied with a mocking smirk.

The nurse's face twisted in indignation and fear. She didn't have the courage to leave the island alone, terrified of the beasts that roamed it. Yet, she also feared the man before her and dared not reveal her weakness, masking her anxiety with anger.

The man, Lord Enzo, scoffed and laughed at her feeble attempt to appear strong. He could smell her fear as clearly as he could sense the blood in her veins.

The nurse, named Hisewaga Chisato, was a beautiful woman with a voluptuous figure, long dark brown hair, red glasses, and a beauty mark under her left eye. She wore a green sweater beneath her white robe, a short skirt, and long stockings.

Chisato turned to glance at the corpse lying behind her—the mother's body, naked and bloody, with her thighs and crotch soaked in crimson.

'She was fiery in bed. Such a shame. Oh well, her fault for being weak,' Enzo thought, dismissing the woman's death without a second thought.

He returned his gaze to the baby, who was sleeping peacefully in the nurse's arms.

"Give me the child," he ordered, curiosity glinting in his eyes.

The nurse nodded and walked over, carefully placing the baby in his hands. Enzo held the child awkwardly by his armpits, clearly inexperienced in handling infants. Yet the baby seemed comfortable despite the awkward position.

His eyes lit up with joy when he noticed the child was a boy.

"Hah! A son. That's much better than a daughter!" he said gleefully.

Sniffing the air, his attention shifted to the corpse behind Chisato.

"Oi, nurse. Take that corpse outside and feed it to the beasts. It stinks," he commanded, his tone laced with disgust.

Chisato clenched her fists, veins popping on her forehead and neck as anger boiled within her.

'I hate men like him. How dare he? How could he feel nothing for the mother of his child?' she thought bitterly, biting back her anger.

"May I bury her instead of feeding her to the beasts, my lord?" she asked hesitantly, hoping he would allow it.

He chuckled, shifting the child to his left shoulder as he cradled him with one arm.

"I don't care. Do as you like. But make sure the smell doesn't linger and be wary of the beasts. They'll devour you if you're not careful."

Chisato's face paled at his warning, but she bowed in thanks, grateful for his grudging permission.

Enzo knew she hated him and suspected she might have killed the child's mother out of spite. Yet, he didn't care in the slightest.

Carrying his son, he retreated to his bedroom. The room featured a king-sized bed, a wardrobe, and a balcony overlooking a large lake surrounded by rolling hills.

{Four Hours Later}

The newborn stirred, slowly opening his eyes to a dark room illuminated by moonlight streaming through the balcony.

He realized he was lying on the chest of a man he assumed was his father.

'This must be my new father,' the baby thought, trying to wriggle free.

Sliding off the bed, he landed on the floor and sat comfortably, glancing at his reflection in a large mirror.

'Well, well. Who would have thought I'd look this dazzling?' he mused, giving himself a beaming smile.

The child resembled a human but had snowy white fur covering parts of his body, sharp teeth glinting in the moonlight, and an air of confidence beyond his years.

He examined himself in fascination before closing his eyes, testing the abilities he had honed in the womb.

To his delight, his heightened senses still worked. He could feel his bones, blood flow, and organs, although he noted a strange switch in his heart that he attributed to his hybrid nature.

The sound of shuffling bed sheets drew his attention. Turning, he saw the man waking up, groaning as he stretched.

The man glanced at the child, a curious expression on his face.

"What should I name you?" he muttered, tapping his chin. "This is important. I need a name worthy of you—no simple ones."

He rattled off a list of names: "Kol, Henrik, Franklin, Lector, Cain…"

The baby clapped and giggled at the last name, prompting his father to grin.

"You like Cain, huh? Good choice!"

Lifting the baby again—awkwardly by the armpits—Cain's father laughed heartily.

"You don't like being carried like this?" he asked, noticing the baby's angry expression.

Cain shook his head, wiggling violently until his father placed him back on the floor.

"Oi, do you understand me?" the man asked, narrowing his eyes at the baby in suspicion.

Cain gazed back at him, sharp intelligence shining in his eyes.
