Eden stood at the edge of the boat, holding a fishing net, watching the 18-meter-long Guffaw Fish leaping out of the water in the distance, letting out mocking laughs and wagging its blue tail in a manner that seemed to taunt them.

Eden's lips curled into a smile.

The tail fin of the Guffaw Fish was distinctive; when it moved upward, it resembled a human flipping the middle finger, giving an impression of disdain.

"Do you want me to row over there?" Luffy asked eagerly, holding a paddle.

"No need, this is my prey. I can handle it alone," Eden said confidently.

"Wow! You really look manly," Luffy exclaimed.

Eden chuckled. Despite his fatigue, he felt capable of dealing with the fish, a confidence stemming from his experience as a fisherman over the past six months.

Eden knew which fish he could and couldn't catch, and he rarely wasted effort. Choosing the right fishing spots and techniques, he always returned with a good catch.

He was a professional fisherman, though some fish were too large for him to handle alone. He knew their weaknesses well.

Eden had read about 80% of the fish in the East Blue in various marine books, becoming a knowledgeable and skilled fisherman in just half a year through sheer determination and hard work.

His recent intense training seemed to have paid off more than he had expected.

Eden threw the net with the baited barrels into the sea.

"Hey, those barrels were my snacks! Why did you throw them into the sea?" Luffy shouted in distress.

Seriously? These barrels could hold a person, and you call three barrels of meat a snack?

Even after getting used to Luffy's enormous appetite, Eden was sometimes astonished.

"To lure the prey, you need bait," Eden explained, his eyes fixed on the water.

Guffaw Fish had sharp teeth capable of tearing through iron nets, let alone the ordinary nets Eden had made.

The fish seemed uninterested in the baited nets initially, the sea remaining calm.

"It doesn't seem to be taking the bait. Are you sure this will work?" Luffy asked, scratching his head.

"I think it's about time," Eden said, noticing ripples on the water, indicating the fish was approaching.

"Hold on tight and don't fall overboard," Eden warned Luffy.

"Why..."

Before Luffy could finish, a loud crash rocked the boat, sending Luffy flying.

But Luffy quickly grabbed the mast with his stretched arm and swung back onto the boat.

The boat shook violently from the impact beneath the water, the Guffaw Fish ramming it from below.

After two more powerful hits, the boat spun 720 degrees on the water.

"Haha, awesome!" Luffy cheered, using the spinning momentum to play around.

Seriously? I said I didn't need your help, but you could at least take this seriously.

Yet, Luffy's carefree attitude showed his complete trust in Eden's ability to handle the fish alone.

This unconditional trust warmed Eden's heart, making him feel truly part of Luffy's future crew.

Even if I can't contribute much in battle, I just need to do my part well.

I'm not sailing alone!

Eden's eyes shone brightly, his previous fatigue vanishing, replaced with determination.

With a loud splash, the Guffaw Fish surfaced, swallowing the bait and net. Eden had anticipated this, throwing another net to catch its tail fin.

As the fish dived back, the net tightened around its tail. Eden gripped the net firmly, his muscles straining.

The fish struggled, creating waves. Eden's hands bled from the rough net, and he was being dragged towards the water.

"Don't underestimate me!" Eden shouted, using all his strength to pull the fish out of the water, flinging it onto the boat.

The fish let out a mocking laugh, snapping its jaws at Eden, who dodged and punched its side.

"You've lost!" Eden declared as the fish crashed onto the deck, unconscious from the blow.

Standing triumphantly on the defeated fish, Eden shouted, "I won!"

Luffy, hanging from the mast, laughed heartily. Their combined shouts echoed across the vast sea.

Before setting sail, Eden couldn't have imagined catching such a formidable fish. Now, he had grown stronger, proving his training had paid off.

Just keep trying, and you can change!

Breathing heavily, Eden's hands bled, his right hand injured from the fish's tough flesh.

Damn, this fish's flesh is like stone. That hurt!

Eden bandaged his hands as Luffy, done spinning on the mast, jumped down excitedly, "Great! Today's feast is ready!"

Eden and Luffy enjoyed a hearty meal of Guffaw Fish that day.

...

Seven days later, Eden continued his relentless training, feeling stronger each day, possibly a result of the Devil Fruit he had eaten.

"Do you know what your Devil Fruit power is? If it's something interesting, you could perform at our feasts," Luffy said, munching on a piece of meat.

Nani? Do you want me to stick chopsticks in my nose and do a belly dance like you?

Eden cringed at the thought.

"I have an idea to find out if your Devil Fruit is real," Luffy said, looking clever.

Eden felt uneasy. What kind of idea could a simple-minded guy like Luffy have?

Before Eden could speak, Luffy grabbed him and threw him overboard, shouting, "Don't worry, if anything happens, I'll save you! Devil Fruit users are cursed by the sea. To know if you're one, just soak in the water."

"I'm so smart," Luffy said, congratulating himself.

Seriously? I could just dip my hand in the water to find out. Why throw me in?

Before Eden could protest, he was in the sea, quickly losing strength, confirming the Devil Fruit's curse.

Luffy extended his arm to pull Eden out, but a sudden whirlpool formed, dragging them both in.

"What is this big whirlpool?!" Luffy shouted, looking shocked as Eden was pulled under.

The whirlpool appeared out of nowhere, dragging Eden and the boat into its vortex.

As Eden was pulled into the whirlpool, he thought of a girl with orange hair.

If Nami were here, I might not have fallen for Luffy's antics...
