_________ POV Narration _________
As Enel pondered their increasingly bleak-looking chances, the situation below was not getting any better.
The Miniature Sun that Luffy and Enel had formed did little to help them. In fact, it caused a lot of trouble.
Dragon was injured heavily, and he was now having issues fighting against Saint Mars, the gigantic bird demon was taking full advantage of the burns now littering his opponent's body.
Unfortunately for the Elder, Francisco was quick to notice the discrepancy.
Before he could sink his claws into Dragon's back, a flying slash severed both of his legs, as well as the melted mountains standing behind him, the pressure sent magma flying everywhere as well.
"Don't get too cocky, stupid bird!" Francisco dashed in, his blade already clashing with the Elder's sharp beak.
The winds immediately flurried, as Dragon regained his senses and sent countless flying slashes towards the Saint.
In an instant, the situation had turned around completely once again.
But he wasn't the only one having trouble with his opponents. Virtually all of the elders were being pressed heavily.
Saint Saturn was being consistently pounded to the depths of the frozen seas by Sengoku and Garp. But they weren't alone, any time he was close to touching either of them, his entire body would be showered up in Magma.
Not like he could do much against Akainu either, as the latter possessed one of the most annoying devil fruits to deal with, coupled with rather good Observation Haki.
Every time he concentrated on Akainu enough to pierce his body, the magma Fleet Admiral would just morph his body around his hit. He would then suffer greatly for taking his attention away from Garp and Sengoku.
Sometimes, he would also get pelted by explosive cannonballs from the distance, they didn't do much damage to him, but they were an annoying distraction.
Old Kong, in his yeti form, was also being heavily suppressed by Zephyr, Fujitora, and Kizaru.
There were also other wild cards and sniper fire that they had to deal with from skilled marines, pirates, and revolutionaries.
In short, they were heavily outnumbered.
At least until their equalizer came in... Thousands upon thousands of pacifists finally rushed out of the centre of the holy land, where the laboratory of the overworked Vegapunk satellite was currently located.
The Pacifistas were all fitted with top-of-the-line equipment, and they all rushed towards the islands, instructed to completely avoid and skid past the currently ongoing fights between the heavy hitters present.
Unfortunately for them, it was rather hard to avoid a certain icy heavy hitter... Aokiji just so happened to be in their way.
Despite being tired from using Ice Age constantly in very quick succession to avoid dying, he still managed to take on around 100 of them, whilst the others, still around a thousand, were able to rush past him as he was dealing with the lasers of those he had held up.
He tried to freeze their legs and keep them in place, but he was simply too winded to keep that up for too long.
"Don't worry, Aokiji... We'll take on this front while you rest a bit."
Thankfully he wasn't alone, as a sniper shot immediately dismantled one of the Pacifistas that was trying to shoot another laser at the icy admiral.
The voice was that of Tokikake, but he wasn't alone.
Gion also jumped in, her blade slicing through several Pacifistas in quick succession as she danced around the battlefield.
They were also joined by regular marines, revolutionaries and pirates, all rushing in with smiles on their faces, eager for battle.
Despite the lasers that rushed past them injuring and killing many from their ranks, their spirits were unshakable.
How could their morale ever be low, after witnessing the leaders of their grand army display their overwhelming powers in such a way?
Countless people, from all walks of life now found themselves walking together, facing foes that could easily kill them individually. But they did so with smiles on their faces.
The Pacifistas were completely overwhelmed, as tens of thousands descended upon them like hungry wolves. Anyone who wasn't stuck on cannon duty essentially jumped into the fray.
Buggy stumbled about, his shrieking sounding like a battle cry to his crew, who followed him into battle fiercely.
Crocodile also acted, his sand spreading out through the battlefield, in a bid to control it completely.
Sand spikes and spears rose from the ground constantly, maiming any enemy they hit. Crocodile was a lot stronger than those around him, that was clear enough.
But his task during the war was similar to that of Aokiji. And that was to defend the islands and contribute to the defeat of the World Government's army.
It was the same for Gion, Tokikake, and many others.
It may have felt like they were sidelined in a sense, but their task was very important.
The cannon bombardment of the islands was doing wonders to suppress a lot of the elders and had already killed off the majority of the World Government's forces aside from their heavy hitters.
Of course, none of that would have been possible without the special weapons created by Vegapunk. They were made specifically to fire from a very large range, and the shells they shot out were also more destructive than any regular cannonball.
Of course, Vegapunk could have created a stronger weapon individually if he had focused on that instead, but mass production was the name of the game.
Even now, the symphony of cannons was unbroken, all pointed toward the Holy Land.
At that point, it seemed that the elders were starting to realize that fighting opponents whilst scattered like that was a bad idea.
Their initial strategy was to stall until their Lord IMU won the battle of the gods. But one thing was made clear with that last move Enel had pulled...
'The Raijin of this era is somehow even more dangerous than the last! Even worse, he is accompanied by an incarnation of Joyboy that is essentially on par with the original...'
Instinctively, they all knew what they needed to do.
In an instant, a large inscribed glowing circle appeared underneath Saint Shepherd. The gigantic worm demon had pulled the furthest away from the other battlefields whilst facing Whitebeard, Sanji and Marco.
The trio were not completely alone of course, constantly aided by the attacks of other small fry, but the Worm Saint knew that he needed to put some distance between them and the others.
Whitebeard immediately punched the ground, sending a powerful shock through it and breaking everything in sight.
Yet, it seemed that the 'magical circle' was not affected by the destruction of the ground.
"Ifrit Jambe: Bœuf Burst!"
Sanji took a different approach, attacking the Saint's gigantic body directly in an attempt to interrupt whatever was happening.
His blue flaming kick completely charred a big part of the Saint's body, as he passed through it completely and came out the other side.
But nothing changed with the circle, even when the burnt guts of the Worm Saint were spilling on the ground.
And in an instant, 4 gigantic puffs of smoke appeared at every corner of the circle.
"Hoho... It seems that this group is the first to go." A deep, monstrous voice was heard from one of the clouds.
'This...'
In an instant, Whitebeard's team was surrounded from all sides by all 5 elders.
"Well, shit." Marco muttered, transforming in his phoenix form as he eyed the Elders with defiance.
"Hmph, as if we'll go down that easily." Whitebeard's entire body seemed to be enveloped in a white bubble, his body turning completely black with haki.
The very next step he took broke the red line all around him, as tremors spread everywhere like a raging current.
Sanji also growled, his body being instantly covered in his black raid suit. The blue flames on his leg burned brighter than ever.
'Shit... We got led pretty far from the others. But still, we just need to hold out for a minute or so...
We can do that, right?'
