Chapter 63: Sengoku's Justice

Just then the den den mushi rang again. It had actually been ringing non stop for the last half hour but Kai and Robin had both ignored it. Kai looked at the den den mushi and sighed. He walked over to it and picked it up.

"Hello?"

Sengoku's panicked voice resounded on the other end. "Fujin! Why didn't you pick up? You can't kill the leader of CP9! I just got off the phone with the gorosei (five elders) and they told me that they wanted him alive. Don't kill him! No matter what!"

Kai looked at Spandams wound riddled corpse. He smiled to himself and said. "That's… quite unfortunate goat man. You see the leader of CP9 tripped and fell off of the bridge. I don't think he survived the fall. What a clumsy guy, right?" Kai said as he kicked Spandams corpse over the edge of the bridge they were standing on.

Spandam's body plummeted towards the ocean, landing with a huge splash. Sengoku on the other end of the line was in the middle of taking deep breaths. Kai was waiting and listening in as he heard.

"Baaa."

Kai paused for a moment before he snickered to himself when he realized what made that sound.

Sengoku finally calmed down. "Do you understand what you just did, Fujin?"

Kai responded calmly. "Yeah. I just single handedly prevented the destruction of one of the three famous marine islands and saved thousands of marine lives."

Sengoku grit his teeth. "You blatantly ignored my direct orders and went against the WG!!"

Kai sat down against the blood stained wall he just had Spandam on and relaxed. "So, you're mad I saved the marines' lives? Got it! I'll remember that in the future goat-man. Next time I'm faced with a choice of whether to help thousands of marines or do something else, I'll ignore all their lives! Also, when a marine island, for example, marineford is going to be destroyed. I'll make sure not to do anything about it!"

Sengoku felt his eyebrow twitch. "There was never a buster call in the first place!!"

Kai sighed. "Really? Why do you think that is? Seriously. If I could preemptively call you to tell you about that jackass trying to destroy an island. Do you really think I would let him still destroy it?"

Sengoku thought for a moment before shutting up as he remembered the call he was just on with the gorosei.

Kai thought for a moment before he added on. "Actually I'm curious about something, Sengoku. What did those five senile fucks tell you to do? I bet they told you to go through with the buster call in order to arrest Nico Robin didn't they?"

Robin heard this and her eyes widened in shock. 'Surely the government wouldn't do that.' She thought. This was a marine base after all. She didn't think that in order to suppress less than 100 people wreaking havoc on the island they would murder thousands of marines and their families along with all other citizens on the island. That would make no logical sense.

Sengoku stayed silent in the face of Kai's accusation, giving Kai the answer he needed. "So they did. That must be why you are mad at me then. I stopped you from destroying the island and killing thousands of marines and even more civilians. You just wanted me to let this bastard Spandam go too didn't you? Just let him live after murdering marines in cold blood. Tell me Sengoku. Did you want to just destroy everything too, in hopes the devil child would disappear? Is that why you're mad I didn't allow everyone to die?"

"NO! IT'S NOT LIKE THAT! I JU-"

Sengoku tried to rebuttal but Kai cut him off again.

"DON'T GIVE ME THAT SHIT! You just admitted you were going to let the buster call happen anyway! You don't care about the marines at all! Are you going to say it was for justice? That's BULLSHIT and you know it! None of this has anything to do with justice! They just wanted Nico Robin! They don't care about anything else that stands in their way, marines, civilians or anyone else! And apparently neither do you. You just let them walk all over you. Is it really for justice? No, it isn't. And I think you already know that. Justice is bullshit. It has no meaning, it's a fucking concept, it can never truly exist as it is only an ideal in each persons own mind. Everyone has a different justice, Sengoku. It seems yours is the same as the gorosei, murdering and enslaving anyone who stands slightly in the way of your position and power. Maybe you were right, you should retire, you already have the fucking goat anyway. *click*"

Kai hung up the den den mushi, extremely disappointed. He wasn't surprised that the gorosei wanted to send the buster call anyway, they had always been bastards who disregarded human lives. But Sengoku was different, sure he was pressured by the government but Kai thought that he still had some semblance of a conscience. Kai was genuinely shocked that Sengoku was going to allow the buster call to come for them. His mind started spinning.

The gorosei weren't stupid, if the buster call didn't go thorugh, then they would do something else. Possibly another buster call, but that wouldn't make sense, it would take too long to set up at this point. Maybe a few warships? But that wasn't enough, there had to be something else.

As Kai was in his thoughts, Robin snapped out of her daze that she was in while listening to Kai and Sengoku's conversation. She was still concerned the fleet admiral was willing to send a buster call on a marine island. She was also a little concerned as Kai had told her that Sengoku wasn't that bad of a guy and a pretty decent marine. If that was one of the good ones, the bad ones must be even worse. Just as she started thinking about this she noticed something.

The crew had shown up on the bridge and was rushing towards them. Only Luffy was missing as he was still fighting Lucci. They started to smile in joy as they ran towards Robin, excited to finally rescue her.

Just then a voice sounded.

"Aww, shit."

Kai said as he finally realized the situation. Aokiji! He had forgotten that Aokiji showed up just after the Straw Hats left in the manga. Now that the gorosei had reason to interfere in this, they would send Aokiji early.

Kai turned to face the crew. "What are the chances Luffy would stop fighting Lucci right now and get the fuck out of here? None right?"

The rest of the crew nodded.

"You think he would run away from a fight?" Zoro said with a proud smirk on his face.

Nami started to get nervous. "Hey, Fujin, why did you ask that?"

Robin started to think before she seemed to make a connection. "What are they going to send now?"

She asked Kai who just sighed. "Probably an admiral. Probably Aokiji."

The whole crew stiffened when they heard the name of the man who wiped his ass with the crew just a little while ago. He wasn't even trying when he did that.

Usopp cut in. "It's been nice meeting you all! Now that I rescued Robin like my friend Usopp asked me to, I'll be going!" He said as he tried to walk away.

Kai lit a cigarette. "Have fun! Just know that at the front gates are thousands of marines lining up to leave the island, and at the back gate, the gate of justice is where admiral Aokiji will come from."

Usopp suddenly turned around and ran back to the group. "Did I say leave? I meant to say I'll stay here with you all!"

Sanji chuckled and shook his head at the coward before he turned to Kai seriously. "What should we do?"

Kai pondered seriously and smiled. He sensed around him as far as he could with kenbunshoku haki and felt two familiar things. The Merry and Aokiji. The Merry was much closer than Aokiji was.

Kai thought for a moment. "Alright, Sanji you go open the gates of justice, the rest of you can either hide or wait here for Luffy to finish fighting, Aokiji will be here way before that happens, so I'll just have to hold him off." Kai thought about changing back into the outfit he wore on Long Ring island before deciding against it.
