Chapter 21 : Buggy's Purpose!!!

Ivankov looked at Buggy and asked solemnly, "Buggy, can you elaborate on this 'general trend' you mentioned earlier?"

"The general trend is exactly that—a general trend!" Buggy replied casually. "To put it simply, the general trend is the inevitable direction in which the times are heading. More specifically, it means that the collapse of the world government is already unavoidable!"

"There will be a new order in this world!"

Ivankov's eyes lit up upon hearing this. Isn't this 'general trend' that Buggy is talking about exactly what the Revolutionary Army has been anticipating?

If that's the case, it's good news for them!

Inazuma asked in a deep voice, "And what do you mean by 'soon'?"

Buggy explained, "The beginning and end of every era are usually marked by a significant event or the emergence of a pivotal individual. Just like how Captain Roger became the Pirate King twenty years ago, sparking The Great Age of Pirates with his death!"

"And even though there has been chaos over the past twenty years, with countless pirates and rebel forces shaking the foundation of the world government, this hasn't affected its core. It has only provided a breeding ground for chaos!"

"So, this world needs a catalyst to ignite this era and spread the flames of chaos to every corner!"

"And this catalyst, or rather, this person, has already appeared!"

At this point, Buggy suddenly stopped speaking and didn't continue.

Inazuma frowned and asked, "Who is this person?"

"Hahahaha," Buggy laughed. "The identity of that person is a closely guarded secret; it's not something to be discussed lightly!"

Ivankov understood Buggy's implication and said, "Straight to the point, Buggy, what do you want?"

"Freedom!" Buggy didn't beat around the bush and said directly, "How about you help me escape from prison? Ivankov and these new humans under him are a formidable force!"

Although the prisoners confined in the six underground floors are incredibly powerful, most of them are unruly and uncontrollable. Buggy might be able to take advantage of them, but he must be wary of trusting them completely. 

Ivankov, on the other hand, differs from pirates and criminal imprisoned in Impel Down. 

As long as there is cooperation, Buggy can at least trust them to handle certain tasks without worrying about betrayal. 

However, according to the original storyline, Ivankov had no intention of escaping from prison at this time. They are lying low in Impel Down, waiting for the right moment to strike with a surprise attack.

If it weren't for the fact that Luffy is the leader of the Revolutionary Army and the son of Monkey D. Dragon, and Ivankov's mistaken belief that Ace, who is about to be publicly executed, is also Dragon's son, they might still be staying hidden.

Buggy has no connection to Dragon and is not arrogant enough to believe that his charisma alone could convince Ivankov to escape from prison with him. 

That's why Buggy is engaging Ivankov and Inazuma in conversation, trying to spark their curiosity and strike a deal. 

After all, Buggy is alone at the moment, and all he can offer is this piece of information. Ivankov hesitated upon hearing Buggy's words, uncertain whether to risk his efforts of the past few years for information whose validity he couldn't confirm.

Buggy smiled and assured, "I can guarantee that you won't regret this deal! The person I'm talking about is closely related to your Revolutionary Army!"

Ivankov was momentarily stunned and asked, "The person you're referring to is a member of our Revolutionary Army?"

Buggy shook his head, replying, "Yes and no. While he isn't a formal member of your Revolutionary Army, he's even more significant than that."

Ivankov's curiosity was piqued even further by Buggy's words. Inazuma remained silent, standing off to the side without speaking.

The decision was entirely up to Ivankov, and once he made up his mind, he would act without hesitation. 

After a long period of contemplation, Ivankov finally resolved, "In any case, if you manage to escape from prison this time, the security in Impel Down will only become stricter, and our lives will become even more difficult!"

Buggy tilted his head and asked, "So?"

With the decision made, Ivankov no longer hesitated and said with a determined look, "Let's break out of prison together!"

"Hahahaha, good choice!" Buggy laughed. "If you stick around here, you're going to miss out on a lot of things! It's too late to regret it now!"

Ivankov's expression turned serious. "Let's put that aside for now! Isn't it time you told us about that man?"

"Don't worry, let me think about where to start," Buggy said, pondering for a moment. "By the way, do you know how Shanks lost his arm?"

Ivankov was taken aback and asked curiously, "How did he lose it?"

Ivankov knew Shanks was missing an arm—after all, Shanks was one of the Four Emperors, and there were many rumors about how he lost it. Everyone was curious about who had caused Shanks to lose his arm!

Despite the many rumors over the years, there had never been a clear answer.

Buggy smiled and said, "About ten years ago, before Shanks became one of the Four Emperors, he stole a Devil Fruit from the World Government and went to the East Blue."

"In the East Blue, Shanks met a boy whom he believed was the one he had been searching for. So, he sacrificed his arm to protect the boy and became his mentor."

Ivankov knew that the only thing significant enough to make the red-haired Shanks of the Four Emperors lose an arm had to be extraordinary. His interest piqued, he asked, "Who is that boy?"

Buggy's smile faded, and he said solemnly, "The boy's name is Monkey D. Luffy. And his father's name is Monkey D. Dragon."

"Shh~~~"

Both Ivankov and Inazuma gasped in astonishment. While they hadn't heard of Luffy before, Dragon was the leader of their Revolutionary Army!

"Dragon... does Dragon have a son?" Ivankov asked in disbelief.

Buggy replied, "Why wouldn't Dragon have a son?"

"No, it's not, I… uh."

Ivankov was a bit incoherent, still reeling from the shock.

However, it is indeed in Dragon's style to keep family matters hidden!

Buggy ignored Ivankov's stunned reaction and continued, "Luffy has already set out to sea as a pirate this year. He first took down Arlong and Krieg in the East Blue, becoming the pirate with the highest bounty in that sea!

"And after entering the Grand Line, he defeated Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, and then caused a commotion at Enies Lobby, declaring war on the World Government. He also defeated another Warlord, Gecko Moria."

"What he's doing is undoubtedly disrupting the current balance of the world and creating chaos!"

"Shanks was right about him after all!"
