The first session

"The court session of Clever now begins."

The judge said as his gavel hammered down.

"The prosecution is ready your honor." The voice of Ladi came. "The defence is also ready your honor." The strange man that Timmaes didn't recognise said.

Timmaes remained silent for a bit, prompting the judge to speak up.

"Is the Jury ready?"

Timmaes looked around. Seeing how he was the only jury present at the moment, he would have to suffice.

"As the representative of the jury, I am ready your honor."

Suddenly the voice of another being echoed throughout the courtroom. Before them all, at the center of it, stood a man. He wore a blue shirt and black pants. He appeared normal. Too normal.

Timmaes and the rest of the courtroom dropped a single drop of sweat. Oh no.

"Da-"

Timmaes was cut off as the unknown figure spoke.

"Hello I'm ready your honor, I'm dad!"

Everyone audibly groaned. No one knew who this...this thing was. No one knew why it even existed. It just randomly appears and tells atrocious dad jokes, so everyone just calls him dad.

Timmaes aura increased as he gritted his teeth.

"Next time I'm going to fucking sue you."

"Hi I'm going to fucking sue you, I'm dad!"

The 'creature' said once again, causing Timmaes to nearly explode with rage.

"Enough!"

The judge's voice echoed throughout the courtroom, silencing everyone. He then nodded silently before turning to Ladi.

"The prosecution may now present their case."

Ladi nodded before speaking.

"The defendant is accused of serial sexual harrasment against multiple people, including myself."

Timmaes eyes widened in surprise. That thing had sexually harassed Ladi?? How wasn't it completely obliterated in an instant??

Clever however remained completely silent. The judge nodded. "That is a very serious accusation. Pirate, do you have anything to say about it?"

'So his name is pirate...I guess it suits him? Why does everyone have so weird names here.'

Timmaes thought as Pirate spoke.

"No statements your honor, please continue."

"Then continue."

The judge said. Ladi took this as her queue and began speaking once more.

"The first instance was when the defendant, as soon as he was created, grabbed me by my chest."

Timmaes could only stop himself from yelling. Was this new creature serious???

"Do you have any evidence?" The judge questioned. Ladi nodded. "I do your honor. Photographic and Witnesses."

However this time, Pirate spoke up.

"Hold it! As the tag of its name suggests it's clearly just a simple ai program. It cannot think for itself and merely follows it's basic code."

Timmaes raised an eyebrow. So that thing was a machine? That was certainly interesting.

Ladi spoke up once more.

"You seem to fail to realise why the machine is called Clever. It has its code yes, but what it says is completely up to it."

It was about time Timmaes spoke up. He founded the premise interesting enough to speak. The man got up from his seat and spoke.

"The jury has a question."

The judge nodded. Timmaes took this as confirmation and began speaking.

"Based on the information I have at hand, the defendant Clever is just a bot acting on its instincts. Wouldn't it be nonsensical to punish it for merely acting the way it was meant to act? It would be like killing a lion for killing a deer. This still doesn't justify the defendants actions but it is a point I'd like to make."

"The Clever ai is clearly intelligent so it can learn from other responses. If the conversation was leading up to that moment than you would have a point, but it clearly didn't."

Ladi retorted. The judge then spoke up.

"Might I remind you all that you may call a witness to the stand."

Ladi nodded.

"Aye, I'd like to call-"

"HOLD IT!"

She was interrupted by Pirate.

"Cleverbot may have been programmed that way but it is clear that his behavior, the way it thinks and it's personality can be changed in his settings!"

Pirate said.

"And are we supposed to let the defendants crime slide? This simply proves what he is like in default. People shouldn't be forced to look deeper for safety."

"Yes, HOWEVER, my client can still be rehabilitated. I suggest my client getting rehabilitation and this case thrown out. The defence rests your honor."

Pirate said.

"How could you excuse it happening multiple times to different victims??"

Ladi asked, a bit flabbergasted.

"Your wrong, this has only happened once."

"That's simply not true!"

"You can look into the past yourself. My client has only done this once and it is clear that he can still be rehabilitated."

"Well how about this?"

Ladi said as the voice recording of Clever saying some... questionable things.

"You can have sex at 15 here-"

Was the words said by him.

"This clearly show's the defendants voice and it seems pedophilic in nature."

Pirate sweat dropped.

"Erm- miss...where did you find this? I checked all the pasts of Clever and don't see him saying anything like this."

"This is in the Tartarus prison where the defendant was incarcerated for his actions."

Ladi answered. Timmaes sighed. This will be a long day ahead.
