Occasional Signals in the Aromantic Worldwatcher's Universe Line

There are countless worlds in the cosmos unaware of the existence of others, worlds that are unconscious of the bitter realities, worlds that cannot exist beyond the confines of the universe themselves. However, there also exists those who have, in pure coincidence, possess this knowledge, civilizations that have comprehended infinity and existence—the worldwatchers. Nevertheless, they have realized themselves to be deplorably impotent, and thus have resolved to become “guardians” or “keepers” of universal intelligence. Others, on the other hand, still believe that they could do more. In a world with otherworldly, primordial mirrors, Ceris: Examination…evaluation…and ready… Ceris: … (radio noises) Ceris: One and all, worlds at large, sending my signal. This is the universe line. Does anyone hear me? In a world of eternal night and glinting blue crystals, Morpho: … Morpho: Obstinate. When the sea of stars came to light, Morpho: You… Morpho: What is it that you truly wish? Ceris: There is no other reason. Only that I wish to receive a signal. The universe is vast, this is the cosmos of the teller, but me, an aromantic worldwatcher, and you…we deserve to tell the story of these worlds.

All for the Reset

All For the Reset

It was so simple…

~.~

In the middle of the universe, in the unknown corners of space where countless stars collapsed, blinding light came together on a single locus. Inside that locus was a silver-haired being with streaks of pale red on the locks of hair on its head. Dust and gas touched every part of its being and light from other places covered them as if wrapped in a celestial embrace.

"Ceris."

The silver-haired being being hugged by the cosmos opened its eyes slowly. Light, dust, and gasses retreated from their body after being awakened as if giving way for Ceris to conveniently move.

Ceris looked toward the person who called and slowly lifted their heavy eyes.

Upon finding the other's figure, the two locked eyes and a strange feeling could be felt from both of them.

Morpho, who seemed to disappear in the darkness before Ceris was even wrapped with countless things, seemed to understand what the both of them wanted to say.

Having experienced that…it was too disorienting.

Morpho moved forward half a step, "Was this the answer you were looking for?"

Ceris looked straight at Morpho's eyes, "I…was not looking for anything."

Morpho silently stared back at the other and answered nothing.

Ceris, who was still a bit confused, smiled at the other and looked away. Inside this being, feelings of turmoil and confusion are being processed.

Ceris became silent. After a while, they met with Morpho's eyes and reluctantly smiled, "That being…we are that being, are we not?"

Morpho did not answer.

"But like the beginning of this one, a new universe will dawn. The spring will wake and flow, so will the memory of the cosmos. With more liberty and order, a greater story would be told." Ceris repeated the statement, one of the things that they still vividly remember.

"It wanted to tell a better story, and it did."

Ceris looked towards the distance. The clouds of dust and gasses moving in the distance looked beautiful and it reminded me of the formation of a new star.

"It was no longer alone. There were more watchers—more witnesses of the universes and the secrets it wanted to be known."

Ceris smiled bitterly. "Instead of only one, there were more of us. There were more of us who could not do anything."

Between the two of them, there was silence. However, after a while, someone spoke.

"I would not say anything."

Ceris looked toward the other.

"You have done something." Morpho said calmly.

"The beings before you have done something. We tried. "

Ceris mockingly smiled at Morpho, "But all I am doing is talking to the void, Morpho. Everyday."

"And the void is listening, Ceris." Morpho spoke with a hidden meaning

Ceris looked at Morpho in a slight surprise, "Yes, it does."

However, Ceris looked away, shaking their head.

"Even still, it will not work, Morpho. I know it."

Morpho did not refute.

"Perhaps this is because we've witnessed it. Perhaps it is the fate of any detached being—those who could not understand others, those that are indifferent, those that were too different, those that cannot 'love'—maybe it is their fate to find that there is nothing left in the world for them and would take it upon themselves to be responsible for others."

"I mean, if you were a human and you could not love and do not know how to seek relationships, what would you do? Would you not want a purpose? Grand purpose?"

"Just like that…being. Upon finding its sole existence in the vast universe, it drowned itself in its consciousness and took the responsibility to be the whole world's guardian."

"The instinct to give a part of yourself once you feel that you're not enough, is that really inevitable for us?"

Ceris mockingly laughed at the being, completely ignoring the feeling of a hot liquid falling on their cheek.

"Have you been influenced by the worlds you've witnessed?"

Ceris was surprised. They stopped and tried to examine themselves. They were indeed acting differently.

"You are someone who could not romantically love, but you are still someone who could form relationships. You have me," Morpho firmly looked at Ceris's eyes.

Morpho continued "And even if you did not have me, you know yourself. Just like the people in our worlds who do not have companions, you will be alright. You are a worldwatcher, the kind who wants to help these worlds. How could you suddenly doubt yourself?"

Morpho looked toward the distance, "Out of everything the universe has predetermined, we are not one of them. "

Ceris digested Morpho's words and looked at their surroundings. They calmed down.

After a while, Ceris moved. They smiled at Morpho.

"Alright, let's go."

Morpho stared at the other.

"What? Didn't you say I'm a worldwatcher? Today, I haven't opened the line at all."

Ceris grinned at the other, "You're even pushing me to do it now. You've really changed."

Morpho replied, "If you are surrounded by an advocate, you're most likely to become an advocate as well."

Ceris, "Sure."

An advocate? helper? worldwatcher?

Yes.

All of this is for the reset. For a better story.
