Jack came downstairs after getting ready, the smell of his mother's carrot cake wafting into his nostrils and he couldn't help but salivate as he headed to the living room where he found a chocolate-covered cake still steaming on top of the table.

Without hesitation Jack reached for a piece of cake but another hand got in the way and smacked his, "Wash your hands before you eat! How many times do I have to say it?" A thick, rough voice entered his ears before he turned his head and saw his father with his father's stern, bearded face.

" Dad!" Jack screamed and hugged his father taking him by surprise and almost knocking the old man down who was confused for a moment, "Who are you and what have you done to my son?" James squealed in surprise as he pushed his son away and looked into his face for any difference.

"Father it's me Jack!" Jack replied back feeling a little offended by his father's reaction who still had a surprised look on his face, "My real son would call me old and tell me to mind my own business! Who are you?" His father declared as he closed his eyes and looked at him deeply scaring Jack.

"Fuck, I forgot how I treated my dad when I was young!" Jack swore mentally and an awkward silence fell over the two of them for a few seconds before his mother intervened and tugged at his father's cheek, "James stop pestering Jack, he's a little sick today that's all!" Cristine scolded her husband and the latter tried to retort but was soon suppressed by his wife.

Jack again a heat in his chest enveloping him seeing these scenes again, a heat he hadn't felt in several years as he fought day and night in the (New World) in search of making his guild and himself rise in position in the game.

However before he could even decide if he should just enjoy the moment before thinking about his transmigration the doorbell rang and a man's voice shouting, "Immersion bed delivery to Jack! We are the fitting service please drop us a line!" log in." He said and Jack felt his chest sink when he heard the voice, the device that damned his life was here.

" The immersion bed you've been wanting so much has finally arrived son, invite the delivery guys in!" Cristina, unaware of the change in her son's emotions, opened the door and let the couriers in before instructing them where to place the state-of-the-art immersion capsule.

The immersion bed was specially tailored for him and could allow him to have almost 98% immersion in the game which would give him a big advantage compared to other players who only use the immersion helmet.

In an explanatory way (New World) didn't give you anything on a plate, everything had to be learned, practiced and trained so that they could improve in the game, from forging to shooting with a bow everything should be learned by the players because the system wouldn't help them.

At most, there would be an explanatory video on how to use a skill or how to forge an item, but in addition, players would have to fend for themselves, so the greater the immersion, the more advantage players would have.

However this was also a kind of curse that would make you feel every little improvement and make you crave more, this made on the opening day of the game countless new players get addicted and play more than the recommended limit of 8 hours straight.

And with the time going from 42 hours in the game to 8 hours in real life the players didn't feel like they were wasting their precious life time, instead they thought they would be living longer playing the game.

"Which is clearly not a lie, with the arrival of the virtual game market several new companies have opened, mainly that of compact food in cylinders that could provide nutrients for players to continue playing non-stop." Jack muttered as he was lost in thought and without noticing the immersion capsule installation was done and the couriers left.

"While I want to get away from this cursed game as much as possible, I know that the global economy will soon be linked to (New World) and unless your level and in-game skills were high enough you could find a job no matter what. you were an employee of a large company to a simple FastFood delivery man.

Without fulfilling certain measures within the game you couldn't even work as a garbage man, this is an irrefutable truth that was written in Jack's mind and he knew instead of running away from the game he could only accept it and try to grow in it with his advantage of future knowledge.

But even so, he felt his heart sink as he looked at the machine in front of him, "You know what, I'm going to take a walk around the city to calm down. There are still 3 hours until the server opens so I have time." Jack declared to himself and said goodbye to his parents before stepping out onto the street and breathing some fresh air.
