Chapter 40 - Escort Mission 02.

Third Person POV

Country of Hot Water.

The sound of seagulls echoed in the area as the group passed by some undercover ninjas from the Hotwater country, who didn't seem to care as they walked past.

"Do you know which boat it is?" Akame asked next to Naruto.

They were in a port in the north of the country. The client had informed them about the flag and the meeting place. Naruto nodded, pointing to one of the ships on the side of the harbor.

"Who are we protecting?" Kimimaro asked curiously.

"Well, it seems to be a movie actress. I didn't even know they had cinema here. At least not in the Leaf Village," Naruto commented as they approached the ship.

Upon reaching the spot, he saw a group of film professionals loading equipment onto the ship. Approaching the ship, the man they met at the guild, called Sando, saw them and waved for them to come closer to depart for the Snow country.

The three disguised children then went up to him, "Come on, you've finally arrived," meanwhile, a commotion started on the ship.

"I don't want to go there," they heard a girl shouting angrily.

"But, but, we need to go there. That's where we'll finish the movie 'The Windy Princess'," an elderly man spoke. He appeared to be the film director.

"Excuse me, please," Sando, the man with glasses, said to Naruto as he approached. "Princess, you can't just quit these shoots. If you don't go, someone else will take your place. So forget your spot in this industry," he spoke, and against Yukie Fujikaze, the lead artist.

"..." She finally nodded and angrily went to her room without speaking to anyone. The man returned to Naruto and the others.

"Sorry about that. Our star doesn't seem to like the idea, but I hope you understand," he said.

"That's fine, as long as you pay us while we do our job, I don't mind," Naruto replied and turned back. "Where are our rooms?" he said as the man guided them, leading them to their own cabins inside the ship.

The ship finally left the harbor heading north, passing through the Frost country and along the side of the Lightning country, as it began to enter icy waters approaching the northern continent, which was above the continent of the elemental nations.

Naruto spent half a day in his room and left his room at one point wearing his mask as always and joined his companions who were outside, while it appeared there was a recording with that girl, now in a scene acting as someone worried, watching a friend die.

"Sorry, Windy Princess... I can't be with you anymore. I just wanted to continue," he said while there were fake arrows placed in his body that also trailed fake blood.

"No, please, don't leave me," the actress began to act out desperation and sadness.

Then she turned back to the filmmakers at that moment. "Stop," she shouted as everyone began to murmur and hesitate to stop in the middle of such a good scene.

"Man, I almost considered her a perfect actress... but this just broke the mood," Naruto had to say.

"I thought the same..." Kimimaro commented, "...but, she keeps doing this every 10 minutes," he said as they watched the production crew put eye drops in her eyes to pretend she was shedding tears.

"I think she's a good actress..." Akame said behind her mask, Naruto looked at her as if she were an idiot.

The day went on, more days were like this, just looking at the sea as they advanced the scenes. However, after a week, with the waters getting colder, Naruto woke up earlier than everyone else that day, smiling as he breathed in some low-temperature air, he didn't even wear clothes to protect himself, after all, light also emits heat.

'So many icebergs...' He noticed the increased amount of rocks floating in the sea and some very large ones.

"Man, there's nothing to do... let's pass some time a bit..." Naruto murmured and pointed his finger towards the more distant ice.

Far enough for the people on the boat not to hear the explosions. Then he began to launch beams of light.

The sea that morning began to illuminate with dozens of bright balls, causing all the ice to explode and disintegrate around the area.

After destroying at least 40 of those small icebergs, Naruto saw something that caught his attention in the distance, after all, it was a true iceberg the size of an island, even outside of his Haki, he could tell it was immense by its size from afar.

"Let's destroy that one too." Naruto concluded and pointed his finger, while charging up an energy much greater than any he had released before, brightening even the boat.

Meanwhile, there were 3 ninjas in strange armor approaching that same iceberg, they were there to capture Yukie Fujikaze, after all, this name was fake and she had something valuable in her possession, knowing that the only security they had was some children they had hired in an underground guild from a coastal country. What seemed like such a simple job that they wouldn't even hide.

As they approached the iceberg, something strange was happening in the distance, as they saw the horizon light up with small yellow balls in the sea.

"What is that?" one of them asked, bewildered.

"I don't know..." said another, frowning.

"What is that coming this way?" the woman asked as she noticed a small dot crossing over the sea, approaching the iceberg they were almost reaching.

They didn't have time to react when the line of light hit the spot and they saw something they would never forget in their lives: the entire iceberg exploded into a giant yellow ball, shining and even outshining the sun that was rising on the other side. The ninjas weren't directly caught, but the impact of the explosion certainly hit them, throwing them tens of kilometers away. Naruto didn't even know what was happening; he simply wanted to clear the iceberg from their path to proceed without issues.

"Wow, the sun is so bright today," a crew member who worked on the film team murmured as he woke up, approaching Naruto and looking at that beautiful light on the horizon. Suddenly, the light disappeared, leaving only a small dot of the sun, even more distant, since the sun had been behind Naruto's attack the entire time. "That's odd... Why did the sun shine and then go out?" he said, seeking answers from Naruto who watched everything in silence.

"I wouldn't know," Naruto shrugged and went back to his spot, wanting to eat something.

They continued to the Snow country, finally arriving at the location. Naruto noticed there was another argument between the contractor and the person he was supposed to protect. That was already quite strange, but alright, as long as he completed his mission.

They got into carriages and followed the path into the Snow country. At another moment, Naruto was in his carriage while the filmmakers were in others, distributed with their equipment and continuing the journey, but soon Naruto noticed something with his Observation Haki. He saw the woman stepping out of her carriage without anyone noticing. Even Kimimaro and Akame didn't catch this beside him.

'They still have much to learn...' Naruto murmured.

He sighed and looked at his companions. "Listen, when people realize that the actress is running away, you can tell them it's okay, I'm going after her," Naruto said and disappeared before anyone could react.

Meanwhile, in the forest, Yukie Fujikaze was running in desperation, looking scared, until at one moment she fell to the ground while rolling through the snow with a look almost of someone who had given up on life. Naruto began to tread in the snow near her and, as he approached.

"You've been a strange girl since the start of this mission," he commented, getting closer with each step.

She looked up and stared at him a bit surprised. "I noticed that you don't like this country," he said while she didn't seem to want to respond. "Well, anyway, let's go, after all, my mission is to protect you," he said as the girl suddenly startled, being lifted by her clothes and Naruto threw her over his shoulder, starting to walk back.

"Let me go!" She complained.

"Quiet, do you want to die in the middle of nowhere?" Naruto couldn't help but ask.

"It doesn't matter, if I want to die, I have that right!" She exclaimed.

"Do what you want, but do it after the mission, I don't care." Naruto shrugged as she was left speechless by him.

Entering a cave that the set of carriages had entered, which was waiting for them on the other side, at this moment, she seemed to calm down, looking at Naruto's back, a bit bothered by being carried by a child wearing a mask, but she saw something that caught her attention at that moment.

Then she decided to break the silence. "You're a ninja, aren't you?" she asked.

"Well, you might consider that, I guess," Naruto spoke from behind his mask.

"Ninjas aren't assassins who do everything for their mission. Why is 'justice' written on your cloak? Do you really think there is justice in this world?" she asked, showing some disdain.

"From what I've seen, no, there isn't." Naruto admitted, after all, what would someone who had seen entire families massacred, children being hunted, bandits roaming around, looting, killing, and committing all sorts of crimes say.

"You really know that, but still, why do you wear that symbol? Why do you think it will make a difference in this world?" she asked, sounding even more like she was mocking him than actually asking a question.

Naruto didn't care about that. "Well, there may not be justice, but I will do my part," Naruto said and she began to laugh at him.

"Hahahaha, do you really think you can change the world? You're just a fool. I don't know who you are, I know you're here for money, but you don't kill people. Why do you carry this symbol, looking like a hypocritical fool?" she said with the same disdain.

"You talk to someone who has given up, you really are a true loser." This time Naruto mocked back. "My fight and my path will be something I build, I see people like you all the time, unfortunately, they are the majority in this world. They see injustice and do nothing. That's why, even if I have to fight against the entire world, I will stand firm and act according to my own justice, or as my sisters used to say, this is my ninja way." Naruto spoke, laughing nostalgically at the end, leaving her a bit surprised by that.

"You don't know anything," she said with a sad atmosphere this time.

Naruto shrugged and they continued the path to the exit of the cave, where he found everyone stopped waiting for him. Finally, they entered the Snow country.
