Thaleus Cramo

"Ugh"

Thaleus moaned his head throbbing after waking up in the school bathroom. His head felt like it was going to explode, this was the fourth beating he had received this month alone. He didn't know why he was treated so poorly just because he was born without abilities or that his family had been too poor to purchase any, but he had always been on the receiving end of abuse by even the weakest users. "fuck this school" he thought to himself as he reached up to grab the sink helping himself off the floor. He washed the blood off his face and rolled up some toilet paper to stop the bleeding in his nose before going back out to grab his bag from his locker and head home.

As he was almost to his locker he heard some snickers from his left.

"Hope you're ready for military school next week, bitch."

A tall kid with orange hair and glasses laughed while high fiving his buddy.

"Yeah, fuck you too Tom."

He replied under his breath while staring daggers at the two boys that gave him his last farewell beating of the school year. The boy was Tom Drow the strongest ability user in school. His telekenesis was at around a level 3 or 4 based on how hard he slammed Thaleus's head into the bathroom wall he had to guess.

Thaleus shook the last bit of anger out of his body and turned the other way to walk out of school. He felt powerless hed been getting this treatment his whole life. He had no parents to go back to they had died in the last year of the war with the Ragnors. They had been level 9 ability users and he was just unlucky not to receive either of their abilities. He had been government property since birth and was told at a young age that when he turned 15 they would be taking him to military school to get some use out of his existence. Thaleus only had one thing to remember his parents by it was and odd silver watch that moved in reverse. He always thought it was broken but he never messed with it because he was afraid it might stop completely.

He kept this memento in a secret pocket in his backpack and only put it on after he was off school grounds fearful that someone might take it from him.

As he finally left the school grounds he ran around some tall bushes to avoid being seen and brought out his watch putting it on his left wrist.

"I can't wait to get an ability next week"

he thought. "at least then i might be able to defend myself a bit." After he finally clasped the watch on he started to walk home again. he only lived a few blocks away in a large government owned apartment complex. so he usually had no issues since no one other than his school knew he had no abilities. If they didnt know already having been in school with him his whole life his classmates would've never messed with him. at 15 he was 6'0 with an athletic body. With silver hair, silver eyes and a chiselled jawline he actually was a pretty attractive kid. Unfortunately this didnt matter because people only cared about power these days. although he had been constantly training his body every day to the limits he still couldnt compete even with level 1 ability users. Although he was much stronger than your normal 15 year old with no ability he was still very weak.

"I hope i can aquire a decent ability in the military" Thaleus thought to himself as he walked. He was keeping his head down so he didnt realize he was coming up on a group of 3 people heading his way. A few moments later and "bump" he stumbled back and mumbled a quick "sorry" before trying to squeeze past. He had almost gotten all the way past the two on the sides when the one he bumped into grabbed the bag on his back. "Hey, you think you can just bump into me and get away scott free?" Thaleus panicked a bit he had already taken one beating today and he wasnt looking for another. He slipped his shoulders out of the straps on the bag and immediately tried to run.

He had only taken a few steps when he felt a massive pressure on his shoulders forcing him to his knees. "Oh shit" he thought. "I didnt expect a gravity user to be in the city." he exerted himself very slowly back to his feet the pressure on him felt like a mountain. his ankles creaked from the force before he very slowly turned his head apologizing profusely hoping his attacker would leave him alone. "I can't believe my father made me come to this crummy ass city just for military school. then my first day here some peasant bumps into me." Thaleus looked at the boy speaking he was a little bit shorter than him with dark purple hair and blue eyes. "Im, sorry sir can you please let me grab my bag so i can go home."

"No, i think ill teach you to watch where you're going. But ill let you go if you buy your protection." The boy said with a gleam in his eyes looking at Thaleus's watch greedily.

Immediately Thaleus took up a defensive stance. He knew he was going to lose, but he refused to give up his watch. "You can't have this, its all i have left of my parents"

"Oh, well all the more reason to take it from you"

"Hey, Johnny" one of the boys said uneasily. "Aren't we supposed to be avoiding causing any trouble."

"Shut up Brett, or you'll be next." Johnny then turned back to Thaleus. "Now where were we?" He grinned. suddenly the grin dropped from his face "UP!" he shouted gravity reversed flinging Thaleus about 10 feet in the air. "DOWN" he was then slammed into the ground bodily.

Thaleus's eyes widened and he vomited in pain struggling to get his knees back under him to stand. "Fuck, I think he broke my ribs" Thaleus's vision blurred in pain, but he managed to get to his feet.

"Oh, hes still standing" Johnny smiled, how about one more go then ill let you off. This time though Thaleus bolted forward and tried throwing a wild punch. Johnny grabbed his wrist pulling him forward and punched him right in the face. "gravity punch" he said calmly. As he was holding onto the hand with Thaleus's watch he squeezed tight making sure the wrist broke when connecting with Thaleus's face. Thaleus went limp, at the same time he heard a clicking noise. looking down he realized he had broken the face of the watch, but also had pressed all three of the buttons on the side at the same time. "Fuck, I broke it." He muttered. "Come on guys, lets get out of here."

Thaleus's vision was darkening and he heard the boys walking away. His conciousness fading slowly, however he still felt a small prick in his wrist where a needle had injected him when the buttons on the watch had been pressed. A screen showed in front of his face he read it in confusion as his conciousness slipped " Congratulations, you have aquired the Time Control System." His vision blurred before he gave in to the darkness falling unconscious.
