Learning the System

Thaleus slowly opened his eyes. it was dark out but he realized he was not out on the sidewalk where he had been knocked out. Looking around groggily he realized he had woken up in his room. It was a small room with a desk, a bed and a door in the back leading to his bathroom. He blinked a few times wondering why he wasn't feeling any pain from the beating he took. He checked his ribs and his face. No broken bones and nothing felt swollen. Confused he got up to go to the bathroom when he noticed a small exclamation point in the top right of his peripherals. "What's this" he thought turning his head noticing it moved with him. Then he remembered seeing words before passing out. He thought about the words trying tp remember what they said then *pop* the words showed up right before his eyes accompanied by a voice that he could only describe as a cheerful young man "Congratulations Thaleus, you have unlocked the Time Control System!" the voice exclaimed. "My name is Dom and i will be your guide! would you like to see the tutorial?" (yes)(no)

confused Thaleus picked (yes) wondering what happened to him.

"The Time Control system has three main features." Dom started "Character base will show your stats and skills. Inventory or your (Time Vault) can store anything you own in your own personal storage. Lastly is quests, this includes daily quests, weekly quests, and special quests given from specific circumstances. At level 10 you may unlock your store where you may purchase items such as gear and weaponry for yourself. I will remain your guide throughout your journey."

Thaleus sat and processed the information given him before asking "Dom, how do i view or access my stats amd inventory and such."

"Anything within the system can be accessed by just thinking about it." Dom replied cheerily

Thaleus thought about viewing his status and all of a sudden a bar popped up.

"Holy shit!" He exclaimed "I can really use abilities now!" His heart beat fast with excitement. He now had more questions for Dom. "Dom how are my stats as a level 1?"

"By the looks of it you are a little over twice as strong compared to most level one ability users. My guess is this is because you have spent most your life without abilities. However you have never noticed because you could never fight back without an ability readily at hand."

Thaleus smiled excited about his newfound luck and ability. "Dom show me my daily and weekly quests."

Thaleus stared at the messages in excitement. Finally he would be able to protect himself and maybe even be able to dish out punishment on those who wished him harm. However he would do his best to keep his ability a secret. Controlling time was unheard of. The question is how would he keep others from finding out his ability during a fight. Well he would figure it out later. For now he needed to complete his quests.

Thaleus immediately got to work. He only had 7 days until military school started and most ability users were already at about a level 5 with how much they trained. Three hours later he was covered in sweat. His heart was racing having completed his final mile *ding* "(Daily Quest) completed: +3 skill points + 10 exp. Thaleus sat on his bed exhausted. He decided to add skills evenly making 13 strength, agility, and stamina. he would wait till the week was over to dish points in intelligence not knowing what it did. As he finished distributing his points Thaleus fell into a deep sleep happy that he could finally grow stronger.
