Chapter 13: Sister-in-Law Duties
“Isabella,” Maria knocks on the door to announce my arrival when I arrive after I finally remembered which room was hers, “Amanda is here.”
“Mandy!” The door flies open and Isabella launches herself at me. I’m caught off guard but steady myself to keep us both from toppling over. Maria looks worried about the two of us and she opens her mouth to scold Isabella.
“Hey, Issy!” I say before Maria can say anything.
“When Maria put me to bed last night, she told me that we would get to spend the day together, today. So, I had a few ideas,” Isabella runs back into her room and returns with a satchel. She puts the strap over her head then grabs my hand and starts pulling me toward the staircase. She waves goodbye to Maria over her shoulder, reaches into her bag, and grabs a notebook.
