Chapter 14: Rumor Has It
Some of the Castle staff watch as I walk by and I shoot Liam a look. He just shrugs, unhelpful as always. He’s carrying Isabella who fell asleep on the walk back. I help him get her comfortable in her bed.
“I don’t want to sleep, we’re spending the day together,” Isabella protests but I can see the sleep taking over as her eyelids lower.
“I’ll come back in a couple hours and we can have a late lunch, early dinner,” I promise Isabella and she yawns and nods her head. Liam and I leave her room, letting Maria know she’s back in her room.
I say goodbye to Liam and then I go back to Lucas and my quarters. I kick off my shoes and curl up in my new favorite chair in the space off the entryway. I sit reading my book with my legs tucked under me. I’m almost finished with the book when I am interrupted once again. I look up to see Lucas coming in the front door. I start to smile and say hello but he speaks before I can even open my mouth.
