Chapter thirty-five: Force

Ben finally arrived at Paula's house after a while. Since she asked him to come alone, he had to take a bus instead of his luxurious car.

Ben, remember no one can find out we met each other, she reminded him as she closed the windows.

Do I look like a two-year-old child to you, he let out. Moreover, he could easily kill Rick on his own.

Fine, she answered with her face tinged with dissatisfaction. She wasn't sure if she could trust Ben with something like this because she had seen him betray so many people before.

Wait, Ben stopped her before resuming "what am I going to get for this?" Ben was a person who loved profit above every other thing excluding his life.

It seems I have to force you, May replied him as her expression began to darken.

Force me to do what? Ben asked her angrily.

To cooperate with me, she replied to him as she used a spell on him. Suddenly, the whole floor turned into quicksand before Ben began to drown at a rapid pace.

Argh, Ben yelled in pain. You sly fox, he continued. I should have known this was a trap. He had been extremely cautious since he arrived but in the end, he still fell into her trap. Luckily, he didn't come alone.

Unawares, Ben's servant burst into the house as they tried to save him.

You tricked me, Paula yelled angrily. He had disclosed their conversation to others and now, she was going to be in big trouble. 

I'm going to kill all of you, she shouted as she began to use her destructive spells on Ben's servants.

Soon, the ground was littered with corpses and blood. Ben's six servants who followed him were killed in an instant.

On seeing this, Ben began to shiver. He didn't expect her to be this strong and judging from her strength, she should be at a level 40.

Please spare me, Ben begged as he broke out in a cold sweat. The elders in his clan had told him to improve himself several times but, he refused and now he was fighting an opponent that was several times stronger than he was.

Hmph, Paula harrumphed coldly. If she was weaker than him, he would have beaten her to a pulp but after witnessing her strength, he began to plead for his life.

Fine, she replied to him as she withdrew her magic. If you date go back on your words again, don't even think of staying alive.

Sure, he told her hastily. He would not go back on his words easily not until he was stronger than she was. He couldn't even ask for a payment.

Since you have agreed, I have a job for you.

What do you mean by job? Ben asked quietly. They had not even come up with a plan yet she was giving him a mission.

How many levels thirty magicians do you have under your control? She asked him without answering back.

About seven, he answered hastily. If he had the chance, he would have run away a long time ago.

Since that is all you have, I can manage. Anyways, ask your men to kill Rick today no matter what happens.

What if they get caught, it's too risky, Ben objected. He didn't want to get involved in a mission that will lead to his expulsion from the clan.

You don't have to worry if they get caught we can just deny them, she replied to him with a smile. She knew seven level thirty magicians were too much for Rick to handle so she wasn't even bothered by the aftermath of their action.

Ben facepalmed after hearing her. She was asking him to deny his servants just like that, wasn't that very cruel?

Anyway, you can decide not to join me but if you don't, I will have to kill you since you already know my plans.

Ben's face twitched painfully after hearing her. She was simply forcing him to do the job so what was the use of a negotiation?

I'm in, he told her. He was already tired of living. After falling into her trap, she had been treating him like a toy.

Then you have twenty-four hours to kill him, she let out as her expression turned deadly.
