Towards a Higher Power: Infinite Mode

"So, how did you do on your First Semester Exams, darling?" Mom asked.

"I passed the written exam!" I beamed.

She nodded at me, "Oh, that's wonderful dear! What about your practical test?"

"Well... I... Uh... I kinda failed that one." I nervously laughed.

"What happened? Who'd you go up against?" Mom wondered.

"I went up against Dad and well, he didn't hold back at all." I answered.

Mom slowly turned her head over to Dad who was staring back at her with a hint of fear. She pinched his ear and pulled him up a bit from his chair.

"YOU HAD THE DAMN AUDACITY TO GO ALL OUT AGAINST OUR OWN CHILD?! DO YOU REALIZE HOW RECKLESS THAT IS!? THAT'S JUST-" Mom roared.

Ashi held up his cup to Mom, "Mama, can I have more juicy juice please?"

"Oh, yes darling, set your cup on the table and I'll give you more in a bit." She sweetly smiled.

Ashi nodded then set his cup on the kitchen table before heading back downstairs to the living room. Mom's fearsome look returned as her head darted back towards Dad.

"THAT'S JUST COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS! YOU BETTER HAVE A GOOD EXPLANATION FOR ALL OF THIS!" She thundered.

"H-Hey! Take it easy, please! I didn't let them off easy because I wanted to show them that not every fight is gonna go their way! So, I went all out to show them that!" Dad quickly explained.

Mom let go of his ear before sighing, "Bless your Mother and Mt. Lady's souls... I'd imagine they'd have to deal with this behavior constantly."

"It's not my fault that we're practically wired like that from birth." Dad chuckled.

"Ashi won't be, that kid's definitely something else." I chimed in.

We all peered over the banister to find him sitting in Luna's lap as they watched TV.

"Have you ever thought about owning a litter of kittens, Ashi?" Luna questioned.

"I dunno how much that is, but yeah." He bubbled.

We returned to the kitchen table, "So, Mabel and I will be heading into the Plane for training. We'll be back in about a day or two."

"Why don't we all go with you? None of us besides you two have been there, I'm sure that Tanjiro and Nezuko would love to meet Ashi! I'm sure they'd love to know that they've gotten another great grandchild." Mom suggested.

"Hmm, I don't see why not! Ashi! Luna! We're going somewhere!" Dad called out.

Ashi and Luna came upstairs with great speed and excitement. Dad motioned them over to place their hands on his shoulder. All of us held onto him as we faded from the kitchen and into the white void. The large house resonated warmth and a welcoming aura.

"AH HA HA HA!!" A voice cackled from inside.

"W-Who was that?" Mom inquired.

"Uncle Inosuke." Dad and I answered.

He burst out of the house wearing his boar mask like usual. He charged towards us with great speed, Ashi tilted his head with a look of bewilderment. Him and Dad headbutted each other, it rattled Uncle Inosuke as he stood back a bit.

"Ho ho! Nice one, you've still got it, Rylex! Brought the whole family, eh? Nice to see you again, Apple!" He laughed.

"I-It's Mabel, Uncle Inosuke!" I giggled.

Ashi moved away from Mom's leg, he stepped forward towards Inosuke, he looked down at Ashi.

"Uh? A little you? What's your name?" He wondered.

"Ashi!" He chirped.

Inosuke lifted him up and put him on his shoulder, "Ha ha! Another little one! Nice to meet you, Sashimi!"

"Yeah! Sashimi!" Ashi laughed.

Inosuke lead Mom, Luna, and Ashi inside of the house as Dad and I stood facing each other.

"Alright, Infinite Mode isn't exactly something you can really tap into unless you've mastered it completely. Since your Quirk hasn't gone through an awakening like mine, it won't be as powerful as mine, neither will your hair turn white. Do you remember how you felt during the Calvary Battle at the Sports Festival?" Dad explained.

"Yeah, it felt weird, it was like my body was moving on it's own once my mind went completely blank." I confirmed.

"That was just a glimpse of Infinite Mode! You have the potential, all we need to do is unlock it. Just close your eyes and relax yourself, think of nothing at all, let your body take control." Dad instructed.

I listened to what he said and relaxed every part of my body. I cleared my mind completely of thought. I felt something hit my forehead, I looked down and noticed that there was a wrench at my feet.

"Where'd you get the wrench?" I asked.

Dad shrugged his shoulders, "I dunno, I just found it lying around. It seems as if it's gonna take more than that to get you to Infinite Mode. This is definitely going to take some time. You won't be able to force your way into it... Hmm..."

Dad sat there in thought while I waited for him to say something. He sat down cross legged while still thinking about something, I sat down the same way and kept looking at him.

(I.R.P.: Listen to "Various Quirks" from My Hero Academia)

"Sooo... What are you thinking about?" I wondered.

"If I hit you with an Overdrive Bomb that WON'T kill you, I think that-" Dad spoke up.

"WHAT?! ARE YOU INSANE!?" I shouted.

"Well, in a sense, that's how I had my Quirk awoken and was able to use Infinite Mode freely! But I don't think your Mother would be too happy about me doing that though." He continued.

"You don't say?" I replied sarcastically.

Dad rested his head on the palm of his hand, "Yeah, other than that, I'm honestly out of ideas. If you try and force yourself into it, you'll most likely die from the intensity and strain you'll put on your body. You definitely do have the potential to tap into it though!"

"I hope so! I've been training everyday since Deku gave me One For All." I smiled.

"That I can tell, hey, you wouldn't happen to be at 30% yet, right?" Dad nodded.

"No, not yet, I've been trying my hardest but I still can't maintain it." I sighed.

Dad leaned forward and inspected my head, "Maybe there's something blocking it's way to that noggin of yours. It does have to spread throughout your entire body, that training camp your going to might be able to help out with that, at least the strengthening your Quirk part of things."

"ASHI LEONIDUS NO!!!" We heard Mom shriek.

Dad and I got up and ran inside the home to see what was going on, we burst through the front door to see Ashi wielding one of Uncle Inosuke's swords! Great Grandpa had his hands out and tried to tell him to put it down.

"But it's so cool! I wanna have one!" Ashi whined.

"This kid has taste, I like him!" Uncle Inosuke chuckled.

Aunt Aoi whacked him on the back of the head, "Now's not the time to be praising him, idiot. Grab your katana from him!"

Uncle Inosuke growled at her before mumbling something under his breath. He approached Ashi without hesitation.

"I'm gonna need my sword back, Moshi." He told him.

Ashi stared at him for a moment then looked at the katana. Inosuke stared at his blade as well, their eyes gleamed with some sort of plan it seemed.

"I'm teaching the boy how to use a sword." Inosuke spoke up.

"I don't think that would really be a wise thing to do, he's only 5, Inosuke." Aunt Nezuko advised.

"And? What exactly is the problem here?" He questioned.

Mom and Aunt Aoi looked at him, I never thought that Uncle Inosuke could get scared, but today proved that thought wrong! In the blink of an eye, the sword had disappeared from Ashi's grasp, Uncle Inosuke stood firmly next to Aunt Aoi. Mom picked Ashi up and booped his nose.

"Don't touch things that aren't yours, that's very rude! I thought I taught you manners, young man." Mom scolded.

"Sorry Mama..." Ashi lamented.

"So, did you two figure something out?" Mom asked Dad.

"Not exactly, she has the potential, but I'm not sure if she's ready for it. During the incident in Jaku City, My Father gave me all of his Overdrive which was how I was able to access it in the first place. There's no way that I can teach her Infinite Mode since it's not really a 'technique' in a sense. It's completely different than Boost Fire, it's like another Gear." Dad answered.

Great Grandma walked in the room with a tray of tea, "Alright, time for tea!"

[Sometime Later...]

We returned back home to find Uncle Kariya, Aunt Yu and Ichirou in our kitchen.

"Took you long enough, where the hell were you guys?" Kariya wondered.

"Oh, just visiting Great Grandpa and Aunt Nezuko, what are you guys doing here?" Dad answered.

Kariya leaned back in the chair he was sitting in, "I was just wondering if you had any idea where your doppelganger was hiding out, Mr. Number One."

"Let me guess, you have info on him but you're only going to give it to me in return for something else, right?" Dad questioned.

"Bingo, little bro." He chuckled.

As they conversed, Ichirou and I went down to the living room as Ashi and Luna did their usual thing.

"So, niece, how's it been?" He smugly smiled.

"As far as I'm concerned, I'm the strongest out of the both of us, you should be calling me 'Aunt Mabel' instead of the other way around." I retorted.

We stared at each other for a bit before laughing, "But seriously though, I could kick your ass!"

"Uh huh, in your dreams, Mabel!" Ichirou chuckled.

"How's your Mom doing? I heard she stopped a bullet train yesterday! Is her hand alright?" I smiled.

He nodded at me, "Yeah, she's actually a-okay. Pops healed her up afterwards, I gotta say, being a Pro Hero like my Mom must be pretty hard. Mom does get us a lot of free stuff whenever we're out though, I guess that's the perks of being Mt. Lady. Speaking of hero stuff, are you going to that forest lodge place?"

"Yeah, I don't exactly have a choice in the matter. Not that I'm complaining, I honestly don't mind it, I think it'll be great to be able to improve upon my Quirk further." I replied.

"Same here, it's gonna be awesome! I wonder what they have planned for us?" Ichirou beamed.

I shrugged my shoulders,"Who knows? I'd imagine it's gonna be tough though. I doubt they'll have us train lightly all summer."

We went upstairs to grab something to drink only to find both of our Mothers looking rather perturbed at our Fathers.

"Emergency Family Meeting." Dad monotoned.

We all immediately sat down at the kitchen table with the exception of Ashi and Luna. Dad cleared his throat before he spoke.

"It has come to my attention that the wives of both of our households are requesting a 'Spa Day'. We, otherwise known as the husbands, were planning on an entire week of training." Dad told us.

"Why don't you just all go on a spa day? You do kind of need to just relax for one day instead of stressing out about hero stuff. I'll be gone for that camp tomorrow, you could take Ashi and Luna with you guys!" I suggested.

Mom and Aunt Yu raised their eyebrows as Dad and Uncle Kariya. Aunt Yu stood up and put her hands together.

"Well, it's official then! A Spa Day for all of us!" She bubbled.

"Why are we even-" Uncle Kariya tried to argue.

"YOU'RE GONNA GO AND YOU'RE GONNA LIKE IT!" Yu roared.

"Y-Yes ma'am!" Kariya quickly squeaked.

Ichirou joined his parents side as they left the house, Dad chuckled a bit before closing the door.

"Gotta give it to our brains, we're hardwired like this." He laughed.

"Hardwired by what means, darling?" Mom questioned.

"The men of the Leonidus family only like strong women. It's just how it is with us." Dad elaborated.

Ashi patted Mom's arm, "Yeah, Mama's really strong! I'm sure she could lift a choo choo train like you can Papa!"

"It goes way beyond that, Ashi, you're Mother's pretty book and street smart as well!" Dad smiled.

"Book smart? Street smart? I'd hope so! There's a lotta books and streets out there!" Ashi giggled.

I shook my head and smiled as I patted Ashi's head, "You're a little confused on it, but you've got the spirit, Ashi. Well, I should probably pack my things for that lodge training camp tomorrow, I'm sure we'll be there for quite a while."

"Indeed, I'll help you pack dear. Could you put Ashi to bed, Alyx?" Mom responded.

Dad nodded and Mom gave Ashi to him. This training camp was only lasting about two weeks, but that should be more than enough time to get up to 30% of my One For All! But how would I be able to train with it without arising suspicion? I guess I'll have to figure that out tomorrow.
