Conclusion to the Battle: On the Trail (Part Three of Three)

*MABEL'S P.O.V.*

"Your Dad is so fucking cool!" Sazaki beamed.

Ms. Kaoru let off a sigh of relief as the evil version of my Dad faded away. I seriously couldn't believe what I saw, what did my Dad and Uncle Kariya do? They were one person for quite some time there! I was still trying to process everything that just occurred.

"Okay... I'm just gonna go to bed." I tiredly spoke up.

[The Next Morning...]

We had to get up at around 5 in the morning to continue our Quirk training. As I was starting to train, Dad's voice echoed in my head.

"Hey, Mabel? Can you hear me?" He asked.

"Hm? Oh, Dad! What's up?" I replied.

"Would you know anything about something called 'Eight Bullets'?" Dad questioned.

"Yeah, we learned about it in Modern Hero Art History class with Midnight. It's not a 'something', they're a group of Yakuza who were part of the Shie Hassaikai, I'm sure you can tell by the name of the group as to how many there were. What really made them stand out were the... Plague... Masks... That made them look like... Birds." I explained.

"Those bastards kidnapped Ashi!" Dad and I both remarked.

"Any reason why you're standing around, Mabel?" Mr. Aizawa asked.

I nearly jumped out of my skin! I had to catch my breath before responding to him.

"G-Geez, you scared the heck outta me, Mr. Aizawa! My Dad was just asking me about the Eight Bullets." I responded.

Mr. Aizawa lowered an eyebrow, "The Eight Bullets? Do you know why?"

"No, I haven't gotten the slightest idea. I was just wondering that myself." I answered.

"Alright, get back to it, you've all gotten a long day ahead of you." He nodded.

As he left, I returned to my training, I happened to notice that Yamashiro wasn't doing much. She was kind of just standing there looking out towards a cliffside.

"Hey! Yamashiro! Do you need some help with your training?" I questioned.

"How good are you at lifting a rather large chunk of rock?" She replied.

"Pretty good, I'm actually no stranger to lifting heavy things. That's pretty much all I do!" I smiled.

Yamashiro grew in size and grabbed a chunk of the cliff next to her. She held it over me as I activated my Overdrive and One For All.

"Alright! I'm going to slowly let go of this, let me know if it's too much to handle!" Yamashiro told me.

"Yep! I'm ready when you are!" I shouted up to her.

Yamashiro gently let go of the giant boulder, it honestly wasn't that bad! Hell, I even held it with one hand! I tossed it up to Yamashiro, she slammed her fist into it, then I shot out my Nebula Rain attack towards the oncoming debris.

"Huh, you read my mind." Yamashiro noted.

"Of course! I figured this is what you wanted to do." I chuckled.

Yamashiro took another chunk of boulder and handed it to me, we repeated the process a few more times, it wasn't as exhausting as I thought it would be.

"Hey! Breakfast is ready!" Ishimoto called out to us.

We all stopped our training to head to our little mess hall that we had. I sat down next to Naoki and Ishimoto with my breakfast.

"So, how's training coming along for you guys?" I wondered.

"It's going great, I've been mainly focusing on-" Ishimoto bubbled.

He was suddenly interrupted as he slid off his seat, someone sat next to me rather closely.

"Whyyyyy good morning gorgeous! The name's Eiichi Fukuma, but you can call me 'Yours'. You're that hottie in 1-A, Mabel Leonidus, right? Man, I never thought I'd see a goddess in person!" Eiichi flirted.

I pushed his face away from me, "Thank you for the compliment, but I'll pass. It'll take more than a Quirk to convince me to be involved romantically with anyone, also, I doubt you'd be able to handle my Father."

"Huh? A Quirk? What are you talking about?" He smirked.

A hand came down and chopped the back of his neck, "That's enough, man. Haven't we told you that you can't just use your Quirk to get what you want?"

He rubbed the back of his neck and glared at the boy. The boy helped Ishimoto up to his feet then looked at us.

"My name's Genki Aoki! It's awesome that I get to hang out with you guys! Unlike Eiichi here, I'm actually responsible with my Quirk." He grinned.

"Oh, really? And what exactly is that?" Naoki sighed.

"It's called 'Energy Absorption'! I take in natural light in order to turn it into power, whether it be beams that I can shoot from my hands, or even super strength! As a matter of fact, I don't even need to eat to sustain energy, I'm getting that right now from the sunlight. My Dad's Quirk is called 'Photosynthesis' and my Ma's is called 'Light Absorption'. I guess those two combined together to make something really cool!" Genki chirped.

Ishimoto had his notebook out, "Interesting... So you're kind of like a plant? What happens during the nighttime? Or if it's cloudy out?"

"Oh, that? During the night, I just don't take in as much natural light as I do during the day. It's cut by about 50% if you're wanting specifics, as for when it's cloudy, nothing really changes except the light intake. That only goes down by about 10 or 15% I think? I've done the calculations in order to figure that stuff out." He continued.

Him and Ishimoto went back and forth with one another, almost as if they've been friends their entire lives. Naoki looked at them with tired eyes.

"Holy fuck... How can someone even talk that goddamn fast?" He wondered.

"I haven't gotten a single clue, Naoki." I replied.

[Several Hours Later...]

We actually were going to have a nice night tonight! The other staff members planned a "Forest of Terror" for us to walk through. I was paired up with Ishimoto, Dad stood in front us with a bright smile on his face.

"Alrighty! You two can head on through!" He told us.

He leaned forward and whispered something to Ishimoto, he clammed up and immediately stood a couple feet away from me. We then entered the forest and followed the path we were supposed to take.

"I've never done anything like this, haunted houses and scary stuff I can't really do." Ishimoto shivered.

"It'll be alright, besides, they're pretty-" I reassured.

"OOGABOOGA BOO!" Auntie Mina shouted.

I jumped into Ishimoto's arm, "HOLY FUCKING SHIT ASS!!"

"Ha ha! Gotcha good!" She laughed.

We continued through the forest with both of us shouting in fear at times, it didn't help that at nearly every turn we would stop and try to make the other go first. We finally made it out of the forest!

"Did you two have fun?" Ms. Kaoru smiled.

"Y-Yeah!" We both shuddered.

"Wonderful! We've got ice cream for all of you as well, feel free to grab as much as you'd like!" Ms. Kaoru bubbled.

*THIRD PERSON*

Mabel and Ishimoto quickly nodded then made their way over towards the center of the camp. Rei stood next to Alyx with a huge smile on her face.

"We could've had beautiful children." Rei swooned.

"You're still on about all that?" Alyx chuckled.

"Of course, it's not like I didn't and or still don't have an ungodly obsession over you!" She giggled.

Alyx looked down at his phone, "Well... I've gotta take this call, I'll be right back."

Rei nodded as Alyx stood several feet away from her.

"Detective Naomasa, how's it going?" Alyx wondered.

"Wonderful! How's the family?" Naomasa responded.

"They're doing good, we had a couple hiccups recently, but nothing we couldn't figure out. So, figure anything out about the Eight Bullets? I'm assuming you already have documents on them being that they're Yakuza." Alyx answered.

"That I do, what your daughter told you was on point. Does the name 'Kai Chisaki' sound familiar to you? He went under the alias of 'Overhaul' back in the day." He replied.

"Yeah, Ochako and I fought him during our Work-Study with Endeavor when we were Second Years at U.A." Alyx confirmed.

"Would it surprise you if I said that he was the Yakuza captain of the Shie Hassaikai? He had a whole crew with him, Shin Nemoto, Rikiya Katsukame, Kendo Rappa, Toya Setsuno, Yu Hojo, Soramitsu Tabe, Deidoro Sakaki, and Hekiji Tengai are the most prominent members, they haven't been caught since All For One broke out of Tartarus. Chisaki was also the one responsible for creating that Quirk-Destroying Drug as well." Naomasa informed him.

"Huh... Alright, that's good to know. I can't believe they've slipped under the radar for this long. Tenko must be leading them, I've got no doubt in my mind, there's no way that it was a coincidence that they kidnapped my son." Alyx nodded.

"Oh, before I let you go, I've been keeping tags on that shipment of Trigger that you and Inkman were tracking. So far, there hasn't been a whole lot of movement on it. Thankfully it hasn't gotten in the wrong hands, I've notified the Pros that patrol around Aichi to keep a watchful eye on the streets." Naomasa continued.

"Alright! That's good to hear, Sota and I should be able to stop that before it gets out of hand or transported elsewhere. Thanks for the info, Naomasa!" He smiled.

As Alyx hung up his phone, he felt a tug on his shirt's arm.

*MABEL'S P.O.V.*

"Hm? Oh! Mabel, what do you need, sweetheart?" Dad asked.

"I... I need to talk to you about something. I-I don't... I don't think I want to be a hero anymore. I've been giving it some thought, all of this is just way too scary, I don't think I can handle it. I didn't want to say anything because I knew you and Mom wanted me to be in the Hero Course, so I figured that I would just disappoint you guys if I wanted to transfer to another course." I lamented.

Dad sighed and smiled at me, "Mabel, I would never be disappointed in you, neither would your Mother be. What exactly is making all of this scary? Besides holding you know what from you know who."

"I guess it's the fact that I'm going to have to fight villains. And the fact that you won't be there to help me at times when there are villains. I just don't like the idea of any of that, Dad. I just don't understand why people exist just to hurt others for no reason at all. I... I don't want to die." I teared up.

Dad lowered his eyebrows and looked concerned, he wiped the tears from my eyes and hugged me as he knelt down.

"Mabel, I'll always be right next to you, no matter where you are. I wouldn't let a soul even think about killing you. To me, you're the strongest person in the entire universe and then some. There's so many heroes out there that'll help you too, not just me, Mabel. You're a strong kid with some damn strong Quirks, I haven't gotten a single doubt that you'll become the greatest hero this world has ever seen. You, Ashi, your Mother... You're my world, I wouldn't let anything bad harm you guys, your Mother would tell you the exact same." Dad softly spoke.

My grip on Dad's shirt became slightly shaky and tighter as I hugged him back. I felt someone else's hand rub my back gently.

"You're Father's right, I've seen everything he's done, he wouldn't let anyone hurt you. Trust me, he's got all of the power in the world to make that happen!" Ms. Kaoru reassured me.

I used my sleeve to wipe the tears from my face, "D-Dad... I love you."

"I love you too, Mabel." Dad responded.

"Rei, if you're wanting to-" He continued.

Ms. Kaoru immediately hugged me but mostly Dad, "You can call me 'Mom 2' if you'd like, Mabel."

"Please, do anything but that!" Dad chuckled.

"Well, I think it's about time you got some shut eye, I'm sure the other girls are already in the cabin. I can walk with you there if you'd like, Mabel." Ms. Kaoru offered.

"Okay, that'll be fine." I spoke up.

Before I left, I gave Dad another hug. He smiled and waved at me as he took off into the sky.

"Think about it for me, alright?" He telepathically asked.

"I will, I promise, Dad." I responded.

I walked with Ms. Kaoru towards the cabin. I didn't even realize how late it was until now! Ms. Kaoru put her hair down as we were walking together.

"You know, your Father truly is a good, pure-hearted person. I don't think I've ever met anyone like him, Mabel. When I was a villain, although it didn't seem like it at the time, he showed me a kindness I never received from any hero before him. He's a good man, I'm definitely jealous that he ended up with your Mother, but after hearing everything tonight... I can finally look past all of that." Ms. Kaoru told me.

"Ms. Kaoru, thank you for being someone my Dad could rely on, even though you might've been a villain. Or well... Mom 2." I smiled.

Ms. Kaoru patted my head and smiled. I could already tell what she was thinking, not only that, but I could just tell by the look on her face. The only thing I needed to do was think for myself now, what do I want to do with myself?
