Chapter 21

Everything went well. Riri teased Ari about him choking every time she gets a chance. Ari just ignored her pettiness.

After finishing our food, we get to our next class which is Science. The subject is nice and the teacher, Mrs. Kennedy, was good at making her student understand every lesson. The only thing that that her students, like me, complained about her secretly is the excessive amount of assignments she tasks us to do, like what is happening now.

"Do you understand class? Raise your hand if you have any question about the topic." Mrs. Kennedy said. No one raises their hand because one, we understand and two, they are afraid of being the center of attention.

"No one? Great, you are now ready for our activity." Almost, no, all people in the room groaned. This is the third assignment in Science in a week and it's just Monday! Ugh! Does she didn't know that we have an exam next week? I have to review, fudge! I don't have time for assignments.

"Make sure that you can pass it tomorrow. Late submission means minus score."

"Yes ma'am." The students said while leaving the class.

I stand up, about to leave too when Riri hold my wrist, stopping me. I looked at her, "Yes?"

"You two go first, don't wait for me. I have something to do before leaving." Riri said, her face is... not good.

"Is there something wrong?" I asked.

"No, everything is fine. I just need to talk to Mrs. Kennedy about the subject."

"Oh, okay. If you say so. Just be quick or you will be late for the next class."

She smiled. "I will."

I left the class with exhaustion. So tired.

I looked at Ari who is beside me, "Why do we have so many assignments?" I complained.

"Don't ask me, ask Mrs. Kennedy. She's the one giving us activities." Ari said.

"Are you not like mad or annoyed or any negative reactions about this?" I asked.

"I am, I'm just not showing emotion." He explained in a deadpanned expression.

So many work to do... Sigh. In this case, it will make me lazy. Is it just me that whenever someone gives you so many task, you'll become lazy?

Wait... where is Calvin?

I looked at the surroundings. I didn't saw him. Did he went to the next class without waiting for us? Our friendship level is not enough for unlocking the I-will-wait-for-you skill. Sigh.

We walked to the next class which is on the third floor of this building. The stairs... I don't want to exercise... We are on the first floor.

Clack, clack, clack. The sound of our footsteps walking upwards.

Sometimes, I wish that we have an escalator here...

After stepping on the steps for fifty-four times, yes I counted it because I am bored, we get to our destination.

Riri should hurry, it's almost time.

We entered the room and sat on a chair next to the window. So tired and thirsty.

"!" I felt a cold thing touched my cheeks, it is a thermos.

I looked at Ari who gave me this, "Thanks." I said, panting. He smiled at me and hand me a handkerchief. "Wipe your sweat and fix yourself."

I nodded and unscrew the cap. I slowly drank the cold water as to not be like Ari and Riri. I almost finish its content, that is how thirsty I am.

I wiped my face and neck. Now, I am refresh... because I am fresh earlier but became fresh again... never mind.

Now that I fixed myself, I can look at my surroundings. Half of the chairs are been occupied. People are talking with each other while some just remained quiet, just like- eh? Where is Calvin? I thought that he's already here? Is he still in the Science room? Did he not notice that it's time to go to the next class?

I should text him. Wait, I don't have his contact number. Does he even have a phone? Aish, this guy!

I abruptly stand and walks towards the exit. Ari notice me and asked, "Where are you going?"

"Cal isn't here and maybe he fell asleep so deep that he didn't noticed or heard that the class was finished." I said, continuing the last thing I did.

"You are going to fetch him?"

"Hmm." I nodded.

"Don't go and stay here. I am much faster than you and you will be more tired if you go." He drags me and let's me sit in my chair. Sigh, fine.

"And Riri too, she's in there talking with Mrs. Kennedy about something."

"Okay." ...but, what if something unexpected happened to those two? Riri looked like there's something wrong and Cal never did this before. If the bell rings, he's actually one of the first person who leaves the room.

"Uhm, wait Ari!" I stopped him before he gets away. He glanced at me questioningly. "I am going too."

"Cooper-"

"I'm just worried Adrian. Please, let me." I beg.

He stared at me for a few seconds and then sighed. "Fine, but we need to be quick or else we will be late."

"Okay!"

We left our bags here in the room and quickly go down. I am much slower than Ari because I don't want to make my heart beats fast.

I don't know how much time we spent but we are now standing in front of the room. In our school, there are two doors each room and I entered the front door. Riri and Mrs. Kennedy glanced at me. "Excuse me, is Calvin still here?" I asked.

"Calvin? Did you mean Mr. Richards? I thought he is at the next class?" Mrs. Kennedy inquired.

I shook my head and looked around the classroom. I noticed a male sleeping. It must be Cal. Maybe Mrs. Kennedy didn't noticed because they are busy with talking about important stuff.

I walked towards who I think is Calvin. Should I... wake him? Yeah, he needs to be waken up. I tapped his shoulder, I always tap people's shoulder, and said, "Calvin? Wake up."

He stirred up from his sleep and he's momentarily dazed. "Hm?"

"The class is already finish, we have to go to the next class."

He yawned then slowly stand up. He walked towards the exit without waiting for us.

Sigh. Just like I said, not enough level. I glanced at Riri's direction and I saw that they are finished talking. I want to ask what they talked about but I hold myself, I want her to be the one to tell us what it is about when she become comfortable talking with it, I went near Riri, "Should we go to our next class too?"

She smiled. "We should or we will be late."
