As Alex climbed into the carriage, a soldier stopped them. This was a young dark elf with the complexion of someone who had just started a new job.
"I'm sorry, sirs. The empress requests Miss Tin'Alla to speak with the high priest," the elf said. Tina was already leaving the carriage when Alex gently grabbed her wrist.
"Are you going to be fine?" Alex asked, and the elf smiled at him and nodded.
"Yes. The priest is only going to perform the cleansing ritual. He'll ask me the questions, and I'll drink the sacred wine to attest my words," Tina said, reassuring Alex again, "I'll be fine."
"And your father?" Alex asked, and the girl put a sly smile on her face.
"If anything, you showed me he's not as strong as I feared. I'll be alright." Alex nodded at the girl, feeling pride for her. "I'll join you at the guild later today. I just realized my life here in this court is nearing its end. I'm just closing this door forever."
