Chapter 25 Suspecting Amp

"Good day to you PROFESSOR MAXWELL, " Amp addressed the man from the hologram.

"How are you doing?" Professor Maxwell inquired with genuine interest, his eyes focused on Amp, the young operative he had entrusted with a critical mission.

"I'm doing okay, sir," Amp replied, his voice tinged with a mix of exhaustion and satisfaction. "Stage one of our plan was successful."

A wide smile crept across Professor Maxwell's face as he exclaimed, "Wow! That's fantastic! I always had faith in your abilities, which is precisely why I chose you for this crucial mission."

"Thank you, sir," Amp responded gratefully, but his tone quickly shifted to concern. "However, there seems to be a problem. Mister Gilbert has infiltrated our target as well. He went to great lengths, even sabotaging the target's test."

A frown formed on Professor Maxwell's face, his eyes narrowing. "That man always manages to spoil things for me, but we won't allow him to steal this victory from us. Carry on with stage two of the plan, and leave Mister Gilbert to me. I will take care of him. Understood?"

"Yes, sir," Amp acknowledged, determination etched in his voice as he prepared to resume his mission.

Before Amp could utter another word, Jacob abruptly burst into the room with such speed that Amp instinctively deactivated the hologram projection, concealing the evidence of their covert operation.

"Hey, Amp! I need a favor from you," Jacob blurted out, his eyes scanning the room curiously. "Wait, was that a man floating on your desk just now?"

Caught off guard, Amp gave a weird stare at Jacob, silently wondering how much he must have overheard.

"Oh that, that was nothing it was just one of my gadgets I was working on. So! What help did you say you need," Amp asked.

Jacob who wasn't sure about what he saw and just wanted to complete the system quest replied.

"I just wanted to use your height, you know I have to stay in shape and I'm not sure there is a gem in this school."

"Of course there is, maybe you haven't seen it yet I will show it to you tomorrow, but you can use whatever you want in this room we are friends," Amp said.

Jacob stood in the center of the room, his determined expression revealing his readiness for a challenge. He glanced at the two dumbbells lying on the floor, each loaded with 5kg plates, beckoning him to test his strength.

'I haven't tried this before, I don't even know where to start,' Jacob thought.

Taking a deep breath, Jacob reached down and firmly grasped the dumbbells, his hands wrapping around the cold metal.

He could feel the weight pressing against his palms, a tangible reminder of the task at hand. With a swift motion, he lifted the dumbbells off the ground, his biceps flexing as he held the weights at his sides.

Jacob's face contorted with the strain of the effort, his muscles tensing as he braced himself for the challenge. Slowly, he extended his arms outwards, the weights suspended in mid-air. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, a testament to the intensity of the exercise. His breathing became rhythmic, synchronized with the motion of his arms.

(Do you need some help?) Dagon's voice sounded in his head.

"No! And I mean it when I say no, I can do this one on my own," Jacob replied to Dagon.

Time seemed to stand still as Jacob maintained the position, his arms trembling slightly under the strain. Every muscle in his body engaged, working in harmony to support the weight. He focused his gaze straight ahead, his determination unwavering, refusing to let fatigue or doubt cloud his mind.

"Hey! Are you ok? Do you need some help?" Amp inquired.

"No! Don't worry, I got this."

After what felt like an eternity, Jacob finally allowed himself to lower the dumbbells back to his sides, his arms trembling with both fatigue and triumph.

He took a moment to catch his breath, a triumphant smile spreading across his face. He repeated the action for about thirty minutes before calling out the system interface again.

"Woah! This is incredible!" Jacob exclaimed, marveling at the breathtaking view. He had only 20 meters left to climb, and the sense of accomplishment was overwhelming.

"Great job, bro. You did it!" Amp congratulated him. "I'll head back to my room soon since it's almost curfew."

"Thanks, Amp. I appreciate your support, I will head to my room now it's almost curfew," Jacob replied, feeling a mix of exhaustion and satisfaction.

As Jacob left Amp's room and walked towards his own, his mind couldn't help but replay the image of the mesmerizing hologram of a man floating above Amp's desk. It was unlike anything he had ever seen before.

Lost in his thoughts, Jacob suddenly heard Dagon's voice echoing in his mind once again. The unsettling sensation made him pause.

(You know, I can't shake the feeling that there's something suspicious about that boy. We should consider getting rid of him.)

Jacob's eyes widened in shock. "What? No way! Why would you even suggest something so terrible? Keep your twisted thoughts to yourself," he firmly replied, his voice filled with disbelief and disapproval.

As he arrived at his doorstep another system interface materialized before him.
