Nightmares

The earth shakes beneath me and I'm laying there coughing up lumps of blood. I try to raise my wand to mutter a spell but my wand gets kicked out of my hand. I lie there, sprawled on the floor in the pool of my blood. The moon sparkled darkly unlike other days. It signifies the end-these these kinds of moons. I am too weak to utter a single word or breathe. I clutch onto the tree root in front of me. I hear cackles of...a man. "What makes a little girl think she can take my place as the leader of the coven, huh?" He makes to bend down, but as his face almost comes into view, I stand up abruptly and pant hard.

I have been getting these kinds of dreams since I was eight years old. I don't know what it means and when I wake up from these dreams, I discover that the injuries inflicted on me by the man in my dreams are real. I look down at my stomach and see the blood trickling down to my torso. My hands are covered in blood from holding the spot where I bled. I lean back on my headrest and my diary floats to me and stops to my face.

"It's the nightmares again, isn't it?" She asks. Blair is the name of my diary. She was gifted to me on my seventh birthday by Grandma Telta. And yes, Blair speaks.

"Luna, here, you would like this," Grandma handed me a book and I looked up at her with my mouth filled with chocolate.

"What am I going to do with that book, Grandma? You know how much I hate books," I tried to say but it came out as a bunch of muffled babble. My grandma smiled.

"This is not just an ordinary book, my little witchkin," she patted my sliver hair lovingly "This is what the humans call a diary, and it is used to write your deepest and darkest secrets," she whispered with a smile.

"You can call her Blair. She would comfort you when you feel really down." I giggled.

"How is a book a she? And why should I name a book? It's just a non living thing, and that's just silly," I picked up the book and stared at its hard purple cover. It had two pair of brown coloured vines around it.

"You are a witch, my little witchkin, you should know not everything is exactly how it seems," she chuckled and raised her wand and pointed at the book. 'Diastarbiora' she muttered and the vines unclasped around the book and-

"Hi, Luna! I'm your new friend from now on!" The book blabbered and I fell out of my bed because I was startled.

"You should tell your parents about it-"

"No," I reach for my wand on the nightstand and point it at my stomach and close my eyes.

Clambilda I mutter and then open my eyes to watch the blood slowly dry off. "No telling my parents" I sit up from my bed and look into the mirror on my dresser.

"If they somehow hear about it, I'm going to shred you into this thing humans call 'shredder'" I am about to take off my clothes when my crystal ball flickers from my dresser and my mother's face appear in front of the screen. I groan and go to sit on the chair. I tap my wand on it

"Mom! We are literally in the same house, yet you enjoy calling through this." I grumbled and she only grinned.

"What? It is fun! Plus, I love that it pisses you off," she flips her hair, but then, her face turns serious. That kind that she makes when she wants to have 'the talk' and no, I don't mean those adolescent talks. As you must've perceived, my family is like no other. Literally. I come from a long line of great witches. We all lived happily until one day when the enemies came and raided our coven. The werewolves.

"Are you listening to me, Neina?" I snap out of my thoughts. I blink a couple of times and clear my throat.

"Yes, Mother, I'm listening"

"Good because as you know, you have to look for them. And when you find them-him, you should not hesitate to inform us or, you eliminate him," Her face turns dark and her brown hair starts turning red. She's angry. I sigh.

"I was about to prepare for human school, mom." I tap my wand on the dresser.

"Sure, Neina. I'm going to the coven right now. I have to take care of some issues. Bye sweetie," she blows me a kiss and the kiss appears in my room. I roll my eyes and catch the kiss. Then the communication goes off. I quickly take my bath and wear my towel to my bedroom.

what to wear, what to wear

I flick my wand at my closet and a fishnet tights, a big sized black top and a black tennis skirt which stops at my knees floated out.

Perfect.

I arrange my books into my bag and throw in Blair. Then I mutter a spell that turns my wand into a pen. I step into the portal in my closet and take a deep breath.

I find myself in a secluded alley. The walls are faded bricks, telling a tale of days long past. The cobblestone path looked smooth from the passage of people. I could hear faint sounds of the car horns and zooming of cars in the far distance.

God knows I hate using the portals. It always makes me feel weak and dizzy each time I use it. I have not yet gotten the hang of the portal. I look around to make sure no one is around.

'Tianara, belioga, tendadium,' I point my wand to the floor and close my eyes. Please work, please work.

I open my eyes and I hear low shuffling sounds from behind me.
