A one-of-a-kind advanced game? Universal Online where every player had the same class of rulers. Being rulers players got to lead and transform a single species beyond anything. Unfortunately, this was not the game where every species could survive. The whole population of rulers jumped from planet to planet fighting to gain more resources for their survival. The winner got to advance and the loser lost everything. He was one of those who strived hard to survive but in the end, failed. At the end of everything miracle happened. He got reincarnated back in time - 4 years after the game’s release! Armed with a few years of advanced knowledge from his previous life, he decided to once again take the gamble. Forced by his gang to play the game he decided to reach the top. This is the story of Jules - a man who threw himself back intending to rule above everyone but with many being already 4 years ahead of him, will he succeed?
Jules was sure a few more channels would pop up within a few days.
There was no way all the serious gamers would occupy the rulers' position this time. After all, even serious gamers would not want that, as they needed someone to share their achievements with the world.
In rare cases, if no one changed, then the gang would use their members for that role. It was not like having these reporters was the only way to get information out of the game world. There were many ways around it.
He paused, as he was already in the canteen. Despite not being as crowded as in the morning, there were still a few people here and there enjoying their food.
What caught his eye was this group of five people eating together in one corner of the canteen. All of them were the fresh faces that Vandra Bhai sent to their group.
If he was not wrong, then the guy sitting in the center was one of the B-rank dudes. It looked like these guys were already creating a group among themselves.
He did not know if anyone tried to make their separate group, as he was busy slaving as an E ranker in his last life.
From what he could remember, by the end of his first attempt, everyone would split into two major groups. There was no third group.
Either these guys would get squashed by the boss and vice leader soon, or things were changing because of the presence of the fourth B-rank.
Well, it was hard to say anything for now. He just noted their faces and walked to the counter to collect his food. There was no point in getting involved in any outside trouble.
After learning about his spawn point in the game, he was not even sure if wasting his time building his force outside would be worth it.
He knew doing stuff outside would take a lot of time, and that was what he was lacking. It might be better to do these things after the first month.
He shook his head and walked to an empty table. While stuffing bland food down his throat, he once again focused back on the mobile screen.
He did not plan to play more today. Instead, he planned to focus on finding information about two important things.
He typed 'the Legacy portals' on his phone.
This time, he was aiming to have powerful individual strength, and subclasses were most vital for this. There were two ways to get subclasses in-game: either by joining a school or by challenging these legacy portals.
In Universal Online, there were multiple color legacy portals spread all around the beginner planets.
Unlike the school hue, these portals were visible to everyone, including the local NPCs. But only rulers could challenge them to get subclasses.
He saw this table on his mobile that showed the major difference between getting subclasses from schools and portals.
If he had to summarize it, then portals offer faster class acquisition, while schools offer a slow but solid foundation.
A ruler could instantly get a subclass when he passed the portal's challenge, but failing to do so would restrict them, making it impossible to challenge another portal for a month of game time.
Even then, they had to find other portals, as rulers could challenge a single portal a single time, regardless of failure or pass.
Then another difference was that those who get subclasses from the portal would start with stage 0 of their subclass with little knowledge, while the ruler passing from school started at stage 1.
So it was not like spending a month in school got wasted, but then the ruler needed to spend a lot of time in a single place.
Well, it was all about the preferences of the ruler. But the exception was the limitation of schools. Even the best school on the beginner planet could only offer a blue hue, but there were scarce indigo and violet legacy portals present on the planet.
He remembered all the subclasses that he had in his last life. In the first few attempts, the red subclasses were the best he could get, while he got orange subclasses in later attempts while spending half a month on them.
The best subclass he got was on his fourth attempt. It was a stroke of luck to get the evaluation of the yellow subclass after more than a month of grinding in the game.
Even in his fifth attempt, where he succeeded, he barely got two orange subclasses, one from school and the other from a portal.
From his experience of his past life as well as from the internet, he was clear about one thing: any subclass below the green grade was a waste of time that only a powerlessness ruler chose.
A ruler was limited to choosing two subclasses, and ideally, an excellent player would invest in one subclass at the group ruler stage and then another at the kingdom ruler stage.
But for a low-level player like him, he could only compete with these guys by investing in both subclasses from the start.
Not this time. This time, he wanted to break from this desperate cycle. This was also the biggest reason he was interested in information guilds.
He had to find these portals, but the problem was the NPC organizations.
All these kingdoms and guilds were smart enough to hide and surround these portals within their control. They would not simply allow rulers to enter any of these portals.
Though in every round, a few new portals appeared from time to time, replacing those that disappeared, finding these portals throughout the planet was close to impossible for an individual player.
It took him more than one day to travel from the first village to the nearby town. There was no way he would be lucky enough to see a high-grade portal out on the roads or something.
He did not have those misconceptions. Now he needed to find the information on old portals and search for organizations that could have new portals with them.
An information organization could come in a clutch in this situation. He sighed and looked at the maximum portal counts for bigger planets like Nex, with 1000 ruler slots.
