Kyril Is Still Immature

Three days had passed quickly and the day of the ball had arrived.

In my room, I stood awkwardly in front of the mirror with two maids and Shahira in my surroundings. They gazed at me and smiled, showering me with compliments that, frankly, made me feel shy.

Shahira turned me to face her and ran her eyes over the dress's every detail. The dress was a pale orange colour.

This was not Shahira's first choice and maybe not even her tenth choice! The theme of the ball was pastels and so, she had no choice.

Shahira brushed off the side of my dress then she looked at me in the eyes.

"Despite the atrociousness of the colour, You're gorgeous my darling," Shahira said as she touched my cheek lovingly.

I nodded.

I turned my eyes away from Shahira then to the mirror. I was pretty. With my emerald green eyes and silver hair but what really made me a beauty unlike no other was my skin. It was tanned like Shariah, my mother, and probably like her mother before her. A skin colour which was a signifier of Anwar.

This was why It wasn't a shocker that I would soon be treated as lesser...

Almost everyone in Kenelm was fair-skinned.

"I can come with you if you want," Shahira said with slight worry. She had probably experienced criticism when she had been forced to join these events and she didn't want me, her daughter, to go through the same thing.

It was sweet. My whole body felt light hearing her words. However, I couldn't take up her offer.

I shook my head.

"No, I'll be fine." I smiled a bit sadly, then spoke again, "As you always say, difficult situations make strong women."

Shahira smiles lovingly. "Yes but I also say, avoid troublesome situations and pain when possible."

"Even if you came, I would still need to face some people alone. It would be fairly unsightly if you came and saved me from every single conversation, right?"

Shahira frowned. Then she said, "I raised such an intelligent child."

Shortly after Shahira and the maids left my room leaving me completely alone. But I was never alone for too long.

Loki came to knock on my door shortly after. I welcomed him in and we sat for a moment.

For a moment, Loki quizzed me on the names on the list. My head was a bit clouded but after studying almost nonstop, the things I had learned had already been engraved to my memory.

It was liked I was being tested.

However, the only thing I wanted to do was eat or sleep. If I could eat and sleep at the same time. My whole body felt stiff and I almost wished I had been smart enough to sleep at least three hours before this day had come.

I hadn't felt this kind of stress since exams back in my old worth, and being given only three days was even more disastrous.

"I can come with you if you want." Loki said "as he looked at the pages. The sunlight from the window by our side shining on his place skin. He then turned to look at me with his clear, eyes and said, "Kyril is still immature, he won't be able to properly escort you."

"And you will?" I laughed childishly without meaning to.

I looked at Loki for a moment, then at the paper and then I frowned.

"No... it's best if you didn't." I gripped the paper a little harder than before. "No offence, pastels don't suit you."

Loki looked at me with pure confusion.

Then I pointed to my dress. "If I didn't need to, I wouldn't wear this colour."

Loki shrugged. "You always look beautiful to me."

I blushed.

Loki... you lady killer! I almost screamed.

Suddenly, as if realizing the words he had spouted, Loki blushed slightly.

Sorry for not updating for two days. I haven't been home so I haven't been able to do anything! Here are two chapters.
