Chapter 29: The Furies

Recap:

Then the familiar silence went about.

Suijin hated liars, people treated him like sh*t but most were honest about it. But liars were his pet peeve, he couldn't understand.

'If even obese men are willing to talk down to him truthfully, why couldn't they?'

He knew the answer, but the dislike of liars all but stayed the same. They disgusted him, a snake slithering about, sometimes he wanted to grab their throats and sli-

A figure walked through, police uniform donned.

He looked at Suijin and the villains, with Suijins presenting expressions 4 more police officers cuffed and dragged the villains out of the room.

But as if their previous silence was a lie they started thrashing about.

"Boss!"

"DIE YOU, Hero!"

"YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT OUR LIVES."

Their screaming words drowned out as they went down the hall. The officer in charge walked up to Suijin, placing a hand on his shoulder as Suijin did to Mina, and said, "If you could come with me."

Sitting in the car Suijin was having one of the most awkward moments in his life. His father, an imposing figure, was silent, driving home letting the sounds of the car fill the air.

An impending sense of doom loomed over Suijin as he partially regretted his actions. Not saving the woman.

But…maybe being more kind.

If it wasn't for his father who was already there waiting to pick up Suijin, a charge of aggravated assault, unregistered quirk use, and a whole lot of other charges would have remained on his record.

Permanently.

'That could have screwed up his hero career.'

But he steeled himself, although things could have gone badly at least they didn't right…

"You could have gone to jail."

Suijin looked over, gazing at his father's hardened face. But having nothing to say in response he let the stern voice fill the car.

"Your mother would have cried, Shoji would be sad, and your friends at that school…"

His dad left it off but he could already know the answer. If it was before Suijin would've resolutely said that they wouldn't give three thoughts out of their day.

But now, he wasn't so sure.

Sure Kirishima may have missed their morning conversation on his workout gains but Shoji was in the class.

The Pres and Ida may have trouble with the upcoming events if he were to miss them but they could bounce back.

"Suijin-"

His dad was looking straight at him, and the car in stop as the light was red.

"That." His dad was pointing at his heart.

"It's not just yours. Me, your mother, your friends, every one of us cares about you."

Goosebumps crawled over Suijins skin.

"If you get hurt, we hurt. If you are wronged, we feel wronged. If you locked up-"

Knocking on wood Enkai continued.

"God forbid, but if you are put in jail, Maybe you can handle it but your mother. She'd be a mess, Shoji wouldn't have anyone to compete against. I wouldn't have my son."

They had arrived in their parking lot, with the car turned off Suijin looked at his father whose full attention was on him.

"Suijin-"

*Deep Sigh*

"I know you won't stop. You probably can't, some great hero sense is instilled inside of you from the one above."

Sucking in a cold breath, Suijin's eyes slightly shook.

"Remember, if you stop. Then all of the possible victims you can save, become a tally on a sheet counting up the death toll. I don't want to put too much on you, but please consider your actions before you commit them. Alright."

"Y-Yeah d-dad."

Getting out of the car Enkai left Suijin inside, to ponder over the conversation, and to escape from his mother's wrath before Enkai could calm her down.

Suijin was walking down the street, two days had passed since the mall incident. Suijin learned many things from then.

Digesting the information wasn't easy, but once he did he felt inadequate. Like he was a selfish consumer who didn't give anything back.

He could have said that in the future he'd give back even more than he received now, but waiting when he didn't have to.

*Nom* *Nom* *Nom*

"That's why you're here, to repay the world, taking pity on us."

'Since when were children's words so sharp.'

Suijin stood in front of three children, triplets by the look of it. Who was sitting on a dumpster eating some fast food his meager money could buy.

They were dressed in a simple white shirt, and short sleeves, preparing for the upcoming summer weather.

A gray skirt, black stockings, and Blue Hat along with the similarly colored bow on the collar made the siblings seem like the daughters of wealthy individuals.

Adding in their nearly identical brown hair and blue eyes and they seemed like three fancy replicas of themselves.

Suijin had found these three yesterday, they practically begged him for some food. Then after giving them some food they practically chased him away.

He would have left it at that, but something in him wanted to know more.

Why were they wearing such nice academy clothes yet begging for money, what caused their would view to become so wrapped, why were they so rude?

"Our parents."

"Huh?"

"You wanted to know how we got here right."

Nodding his head slightly the tallest one with long hair and a "more" mature look than the others she explained.

"We were the smartest three in the orphanage, thus were sent to the most prestigious academy for those under 10, Shiketsu Pre High's All Girls."

'Shiketsu! U.A. is the best in terms of High schools and making heroes but Shiketsu is a close second and often has higher ratings in Junior High and younger programs.'

This time the youngest of the three spoke up. In a soft voice, she said,

"-but children can be c-cruel."

Nodding the eldest continued.

"Yeah, the others weren't exactly like those from an orphanage. Something about keeping the academy pure and the like, they push all the hard tasks onto us, and the teachers turn a blind eye."

The short-haired middle one couldn't stand it and lashed out,

"AND WHEN WE COMPLAIN TO THE MATRON SHE SIMPLY TELLS US TO ENDURE. I SWEAR SHE'LL HAVE TO ENDURE AFTER I STICK A BROOM SO FAR UP HER A-"

A fist scrunched up, found its way onto her head, and a bump instantly formed.

"Ahem, as she was saying, the Matron doesn't care. The other orphans exclude us since we are too "prissy."

She said with quotations,

"Making staying there less than Undesirable. One day when we were hungry we found that asking nice people like yourself makes them give us food."

Suijin wanted to respond, acknowledge their story and validate the pent-up feelings they undoubtedly had. But an alarm signaling that school was about to start came from his phone.

"S-Sorry-"

"Don't apologize."

"Yeah, it's fine."

"As long as you promise us 3 things."

Suijin looked up, unable to tell who said what.

'Could have been the youngest, she seems to be the type to read and see these kinds of situations in books, but the middle one has the personality to shamelessly ask for something after I gave them food, though the eldest could have been trying to secure profit for her siblings.'

Unable to tell, Suijin nodded in their general direction and surprise washed over the Eldest's face as she doubted that Suijin would even agree.

'So it was the eldest.'

"First promise you won't tell anyone about us, too many adults have lied about planning on helping."

Those heartbreaking words came from the youngest.

Nodding heavily Suijin turned to the next one.

"You need to come back…t-to give us food."

The tsundere middle one made that request which once again got a nod.

Turning to the oldest Suijin prepared himself for a troublesome request.

"Tell me your name."

Nodding slowly, surprised by the ease he was going to say out loud but she told him to whisper it to her.

"Suijin Shimizu, future No.1"

Giggling she said,

"We'll mister No.1 it's almost time for school gates to be closing."

With that speeding off Suijin headed to the gates, though he heard bickering in his wake.

"No fair sis, I want to know his name."

"Promise me you'll stop taking my pants."

"B-But mine were ripped."

"Probably because you're digging in the creek looking for some mysterious treasure."
