Chapter 19: Monster Academy

Recap:

This time, instead of going back to sleep, the hand and its owner slowly pushed off the mountain of covers and comforters before getting up. Suijin Shimizu's face-well spray head was revealed.

He sat on the edge of his bed as he collected his thoughts. It was at this moment that he noticed that it wasn't pitch black outside, slowly, a serene blue crept up upon the borders, threatening the night as daylight would soon descend.

Suijin would've taken in more of the sight, but a feeling of forgetting something nagged him for a moment before he remembered the plans he had scheduled.

---

"I can control where the energy I intake in my body goes, allowing me to designate the right amount to the right areas and... "

Suijin, in his fervor, suddenly took a look at Mina, who was interested in his conversation, and quickly decided to rethink his words.

"I can "deal" with the remaining fat, energy, and other things."

Kirihsima nodded before appearing deflated as his thoughts of replicating this evaporated. His mind had fantasized about what this meant.

As long as one knew the amounts needed, they could essentially control their body to a tee, they could get the maximum amount of energy from each meal while getting rid of the excess fat, letting them stay in perfect shape.

---

The rest of the meal was Suijin downing the drink by sucking it in quickly and the others finishing quickly so they could leave.

After leaving a hefty tip for the poor worker who Suijin discovered was the only one working, meaning he made their food, busted the table, and waited for them, they arrived at the H shaped building, which had left a deep impression on Suijin.

____________________________________________________________________________

Sujin stood in front, marveling once again at the odd shape of this building. The birds were chirping, students bustled across the entrance, and the windows gleamed.

'U.A.' Once again repeating himself, Suijin was brought back into reality by Mina's shout.

"Hurry up, Suijin."

Snapped out of his thoughts, he walked at a faster than normal pace, catching up to Mina and Enjirou and taking his first steps into the building as a student. A sign in the lobby read,

{Welcome to Your Hero Academia, Students!}

Suijin and Co quickly arrived in front of the huge door, which Suijin estimated was taller than All Might himself. Noises could be heard through the door and into the hallway as yelling sounded in their ears.

Mina opened the door, and the scene was revealed. A boy with purple balls on his head was conversing with another whose arms looked to be like tape rollers.

A stuck-up-looking person was talking to a delinquent looking one who seemed familiar to Suijin Snapping his hands lightly Suijin tried to think back to when he could have met him.

'Ah, wasn't he one of the people in that sludge incident.'

Looking up, satisfied after finding out who that boy was Suijin noticed the quietness of the scene. The talking stopped as everyone looked at the group of three.

This lasted for a second before they all continued on. The delinquent loudly "tched" before going back to his own

Meanwhile, the group got a visit from the more pristine looking boy. As he droned on about his credentials and asked for their names, Suijin couldn't help but think,

'He must really want to be class president.'

When he thought about it, he remembered his past experiences of having everything pushed on him when he was class president.

Teachers delegating work they didn't want to do, students requesting that he speak to the teacher whenever an incident arose because he was "their favorite," in their words.

'That won't happen in this school.'

Suijin smiled to himself as he escaped from the trio and walked over to a seat near the back.

He reflexively moved his trigger, as he felt like he could spray water if he felt like it.

Then time flew as a few different people came up to him.

Tsu, once she arrived, went to the three individuals individually and apologized for her being unable to come, though she said that she was always free after school.

Mina seemed spurred on by such words, and Suijin, not wanting to get involved in that, didn't inquire any further.

Shoji once he arrived sat near the front and responded to Suijin's 'Hey.' with a nod before turning around.

'He seems to be tired? Don't even tell me he went to the gym today!

*Sigh*

Suijin was met by a brown-haired girl who introduced herself as Ochako Uraraka.

'Reminds me of Mom in certain ways….just hope she's not as unreasonable.'

Suijin recognized the green-haired boy who accompanied her as the second person involved in the sludge incident and introduced himself as Izuku Midoriya.

No one else could walk around the door after they were finished because it was opened abrasively.

"Students in your seats."

A lethargic man, whom Suijin recognized from the entrance exam, stepped out of a caterpillar sleeping bag before getting onto the podium.

He then placed his things down before spending another minute or two, which were painfully quiet, looking for the class registration.

"-18..19..20! Great, all of you are here.~Good for you though, since I would've cut those who weren't."

Then, ignoring all the voices that arose as he said that last part, he grabbed some chalk and wrote his name on the board before turning around to all of us.

"You all took 8 seconds to quiet down, terribly long for so called future heroes, where a second decides life and death."

Seeing the quiet classroom filled with a tense atmosphere, the man sighed.

"My name is Shoto Aizawa, and I'm your homeroom teacher."

"-I know it's kind of sudden, but put these jumpers on and head to the field."

He then left the classroom, as a bag filled with the jumper suits that had everyone's name written on the tags was left out.

----

"A quirk assessment!?"-x20

"But what about the entrance ceremony? The Orientation?" Uraraka had said that.

"A hero has no time for such leisurely events."

After saying this, a hand shot up, The raiser was Tenya Ida, who had been quarreling with the delinquent earlier.

"What about class 1B, sir?"

Pausing for a moment, Aizawa said, "Class 1A does things differently."

"U.A's selling point is that we don't follow normalcy and are rather unique in how we do things. This includes how teachers set up their classrooms."

Not letting any more questions be asked, he turned around to the baseball looking field.

"You all should be used to tests where you're not allowed to use your quirks. Well this is a hero school, there is no need to restrict quirk usage when it is an essential part of being one."

Following that, he turned to the crowd and pointed someone out.

"Katsuki Bakugou, you're the top scoring student, correct?"

He wore an arrogant look and was going to affirm that question, but the teacher never gave him a chance.

"Right. Then tell everyone your best score for a softball throw, and then do one with your quirk."

"Tch, damn teacher. 63 meters is my best throw without my quirk."

Throwing the ball into the air a few times, he muttered, "Let's add a little boom to this."

He then planted his foot into the ground. Put the ball into his right hand and clock it all the way back before swinging it forward.

Right when it reached its maximum height before it got lower, he let the ball go like it was going to be thrown normally.

*Boom*

However, an explosion was produced below the ball, sending it into the sky. Circular clouds surrounded the ball as it reached an unprecedented height before slowly descending.

A gush of air was created making some stumble off their feet while others felt a slight chill.

*Beep*

"705.2 Meters. Know yourself to the fullest, a basic rule of all heroes."

'That's the number 1.' Suijin thought to himself.

"Woah, we can use our quirk; this should be fun."

"Fun..."

The atmosphere changed.

"You have three years to become a hero, do you think such an attitude will continue. All right, whoever comes in last will be judged to have no potential and be expelled."

Outcries of resistance rose among the crowd, though Suijin wasn't part of that group as he was thinking,

'This school's much stricter than others. What am I thinking of course they are, their U.A where only the best of the best go.'

To Suijin, if such anomalies didn't exist, it'd be odd. After all, this was the #1 hero school, so some things should be different.

But the teacher didn't seem to take too kindly to the cries of resistance.

"Unfair? Welcome to U.A.'s hero course, or rather, welcome to the real world. Fair, is it fair that tsunamis sweep the land, destroying homes, is it fair that villains exist, destroying people's lives."

"For the next 3 years, you will be faced with many hardships, which will certainly not be Fair. By all means, go above and beyond, plus Ultra."

Following that, they partook in a series of tests. First up was a 50 meter dash. Suijin looked to the side as both Ida and Tsu were up.

'This should be a close match, with Tsu being extremely agile and Ida looking like he has some sort of engine attached to his legs."

*Whoosh*

A gust of wind forced everyone to close their eyes.

*Beep*

*Beep*

"Like a fish in water, I'm curious how he'll fare against the others."The screen read, 3.04 for Ida and 5.58 for Tsu.

Catching a glimpse of it, Suijin was shocked. 'Wa- Thats about the speed Dad's water bullets hit me and even then I could barely react.'

Suijin shivered a bit, remembering his 'training' activity where he would be assaulted with water bullets, which hit as hard as rubber ones.

He went to sleep with his wounds turning purple every night for a week.

Soon, many rounds went by before he was called up with a boy who introduced himself as Hanta Sero. Suijin adjusted his nozzle for a moment before stepping on the starting line.

"Go."

With his preparations, Suijin's head was turned 180 degrees from its normal position, resulting in his body facing forward while his head was facing backwards.

Not feeling awkward in this position due to his training, Suijin shoots a continuous shot about the width of his arm out onto the ground.

With that, he shot out ahead of his opponent, whose tape was just now sticking to the finish line. Suijin's body was propelled a few meters before the finish line, as his head had already spun back to normal.

Landing heavily and allowing the force to be absorbed by his legs, Suijin couldn't help but let out a small groan as he thought that he would feel that in the morning.

But not letting the pain stop him, he sprung up with his arm out, passing the finish line in a tumble with his opponent following a second behind.

Their times read 4.32 for Suijin and 6.18 for Sero. His classmates were shocked at Suijin's resourcefulness, while Suijin himself was lamenting the circumstances.

'If I had walls in close proximity, I could have achieved an even faster time with short, strong bursts, not having to stop at the end there.'

Suijin continued thinking of what ifs as he noted a few other classmates' scores. Uraraka: 7.15, Ojirou: 5.49, Yuga: 5.51.

Then Suijin watched Midoriya and Bakugou race, with the latter coming in at 4.13 ahead of his own record and Midoriya coming in at 7.02.

Once everyone had finished, they prepared for the next rounds, but Suijin wasn't focused on that, as he thought to himself.

'Why didn't he use his quirk? What kind of quirk is not useful in any way for this test.'

They then quickly got through the other activities. Grip strength: Suijin got 60.0kg though that pales in comparison with Sojis 540.0kg.

Suijin then cleared the sandbox using the same move as before to complete the long jump.

He did ok with the repeated side steps and, like his classmates, was shown up by a purple ball haired midget who simply bounced from side to side.

Finally was the ball throwing test. First up was Uraraka, who got infinity with her zero gravity quirk, Shoji went and got 587.3m. Next up was Midoriya.

'Will I get to see his quirk?' Suijin had a pretty good grasp of everyone's quirks already, but Midoriya was the only one who was still a mystery.

As he waited, he noticed a determined expression on his classmate's face before it warped as the ball only flew 46 meters.

'Huh?'

"I erased your quirk." Everyone looked to see their homeroom teacher's floating scarf and glowing red eyes.

'Erased, is he Eraserhead. From the sites I browsed when trying to gain an understanding of heroes, he's an underground hero who can erase emitter type quirks, mostly involved in capture cases.'

Suijin missed the berating he'd given Midoriya and only caught Midoriya right before his ringer started glowing and the ball left his hand.

'Glow-'

*Whoosh*

An intense wind was once again surrounding everyone as the ball went up in the air, leaving behind circular clouds.

This time everyone managed to keep their footing, as they were expecting this, but their surprised expressions could be kept under control.

*Beep*

705.3 is what the screen said.

"Wow Midoriya-"

'He beat my record.'

Suijin ignored his classmates as he thought of that throw. He stole a glance at his injured classmate as he thought,

'He threw the ball in the air? With the power in that throw, if he lowered the angle, he would've had more distance.'

"This school is filled with monsters." Suijin couldn't help but mutter.

As you may have noticed, the chapters are becoming more delayed due to the start of the new year and changes in life. I'd like to state that, while I can't promise regular updates, I don't intend to discontinue this book at this time.
