"It's the Wild, Wild Pussycats!" Mina exclaimed as she stared up at the group addressing the room, clearly starstruck.
"Who?" Toga asked.
"A Pro-Hero team that specializes in rescue operations, with their quirks it makes sense that they would be put in charge of organizing us," Kenji explained helpfully just as the Pussycats began to speak again.
"For those of you who don't know me, I am Mandalay leader of the Wild, Wild Pussycats. And while this is highly irregular, all UA students have been enlisted to help rescue procedures as all other Pro-Heros have been diverted to deal with the Dread Beast horde." Mandalay announced in a serious tone making it clear that she was in charge, "Classes will be deployed to predetermined areas along with paramedics. Your primary role is to save lives without risking yourself. That means if you're not a hundred percent certain your actions won't make a situation worse, don't do anything. The last thing you want to happen is needing to be rescued yourself."
---
"Do you guys think I should have called my parents?" Honenuki asked into the silence as the entirety of Class 1-A sat in the back of an armored transport carrier which was taking them to their assigned sector for relief efforts, "I mean what if they-"
"It's no use worrying about that right now," Ida interrupted, "This might seem cruel, but we can't afford to lose focus right now. We should be thinking of a plan and a chain of command so we can help as many people as possible."
"Let me guess you're going to elect yourself as leader?" Bakugo asked as he leaned against the metal wall of the transport vehicle, "All that stuff is a waste of time, we should have been sent to the wall breach instead."
"We would be more of a liability and a hindrance, if we fought alongside the pros," Jiro spoke up for the first time, surprising everyone who looked at her, "What, you saw how easily Aizawa-Sensei defeated us. You guys really think we'll make a difference?"
"Jiro's right," Shoda, a short boy with a slight pudgy build and pale blue hair agreed, "We're not ready for active combat, but we can make a difference helping those who need it. Which is why I think Ida's original point is worth some thought. People's lives are at stake and we might end up being the deciding factor whether or not they get to see their families again. My quirk isn't going to be of much use but I can break up some of the bigger chunks of debris into smaller pieces with twin impact."
"I can help with debris as well," Kodai, a girl with black shoulder-length, bob-shaped hair and a calm demeanor.
"I'll make sure none of the buildings collapse when we try to bring people out of them," Awase offered with an intense look on his face.
One by one people started to outline roles for themselves and it was only a matter of time before Ida started to group people with similar responsibilities together creating miniature teams well suited for their purpose.
"Kenji…Kenji!"
Kenji blinked and he found the entire class was staring at him as he stared blankly out into space with a far away look in his eyes, "S-sorry what's going on."
"Where do you think your quirk will be best utilized in the rescue operation?" Ida asked while staring Kenji down with intensity.
Noticing his far off stare Honenuki gently nudged Kenji's with his knee, "Hey man you alright."
Blinking Kenji took a moment to respond, "Y-yeah, just a lot on my mind…I can help save anyone trapped by debris, just need to find them first."
Ida nodded, "Good, then you're with Jiro, Honenuki."
Before Kenji could respond, the vehicle came to a stop and the back of the truck popped open creating a ramp for Class 1-A to depart. Light poured into the back of the truck along the sound of fires roaring, car horns blaring and the horde alarm in the distance.
Class 1-A stepped out of the truck and as a whole froze at what they saw. It was as if a bomb had gone off, the street was covered in a thick layer of dust, with massive mounds of collapsed and the few remaining buildings still standing listed dangerously to the side, sometimes leaning on a neighbor for support while others seemed like they would collapse if someone looked at them the wrong way.
"Aswae, Todoroki get those buildings stabilized, before they come crashing down on top of us. Demolition crew, clear an area for us to work in, rescue team start locating any civilians who need immediate help and direct them to the med team." Ida was the first to react as he stepped forward before turning to face the class and shouting out orders, which people rushed to follow, "Jiro, Honenuki, Kenji start going through the debris to see if you can locate anyone trapped underneath. Just be careful, one wrong move could cause the whole thing to shift and crush anyone underneath."
"Thanks no pressure or anything," Honenuki muttered as Kenji and Jiro quickly made their way over to one of the smaller piles of rubble that still managed to reach over twenty feet in height.
Kneeling at the base Jiro's earjacks shot out and buried themselves into the mound of concrete and rebar, "It's not crystal clear but I can detect several heart beats inside, judging by the reverb most of them are trapped inside small pockets while others are actively pinned down."
"Got it," Kenji shouted before he promptly dove at the pile of debris as the outline of his body blurred.
Jiro went to scream at Kenji for doing something so reckless only for him to pass through the debris like he was diving into a pool.
"Since when can he do that?" Jiro muttered only for Honenuki to shrug as he placed his hands against the rubble that liquefied underneath his touch, "I think he evolved again, but that's neither here nor there. We need to get these people out."
Jiro shook her head to focus before nodding, "You're right, the first pocket is about five feet deep, angle down a bit and you'll find them in no time."
"That's good cause I'm pretty sure we're racing against the clock," Honenuki muttered but before he could launch his rescue attempt Jiro interjected, "Wait the heart beats gone…and another…they're all vanishing?"
"What's going on?" Honenuki asked but before Jiro could answer Kenji came flying out of the rubble towing a large black sphere with his chain. A second later the bubble dissolved revealing a group of bloodied, battered and most importantly alive civilians who looked just as confused as Jiro and Honenuki.
"I think I got them all," Kenji replied into the silence as he glanced at Jiro and Honenuki, "Jiro, anyone left behind."
After a second the punk rock girl shook her head, "No…you got them all."
Kenji nodded before he turned and set his gaze on the next pile of rubble, "Well then let's get moving, they're more people that need our help."

Something was wrong, a feeling that Aizawa couldn't shake since the earth had decided to revolt against humanity. Almost immediately reports had come flooding in from every other bastion, all of them had experienced the tremor and suffered heavy structural damages to their walls. But the most concerning detail was that every bastion reported a giant pillar of purple light appearing a few hundred kilometers out from their city and increased dread beast activity.
Something on this scale didn't happen by sheer coincidence, and while Aizawa didn't have the proof he couldn't help but think a force far beyond his comprehension was at play. The scales of balance had just been tipped against humanity and Aizawa wasn't sure if they could even them out before all hell broke loose.
