Chapter 53

The cultural festival was approaching quickly and class 1-A was preparing for their performance. Axel along with others was placed on backstage duty, to help with performance.

" Okay, so which do you think would be better between the 2? " Axel asked Jiro and Mina turned the laptop towards them to show a rough copy of lighting effects they would use during the performance.

Mina and Jiro looked at the copy, watching the entire thing. After looking at it and discussing it between themselves they made their decision.

Axel nodded and went back to the rest of the people working on the stage. The stage where they will be performing was under construction while everyone else either worked on dancing or playing instruments.

" Yo, Kirishima. We ran out of rope. " Sato said.

" Seriously. Okay, where's Momo? She can make us more. " Kirishima said.

" Can't. She's currently doing something else at the moment. Besides, we can just go to the store and buy one. " Sato said.

" True. Go ask someone to go get them and come back. I need more help with the lights. " Kirishima said.

" Okay. " Sato said as he ran off.

He eventually found Midoriya walking out from one of the forest areas.

" Hey, Midoriya. " Sato called out.

" Oh, Sato. Hey. " Midoriya said.

" Sorry. This may seem like a bother, but can you go to this store and buy us some rope, if you're not busy. Momo is currently in the middle of something and I need to help Kirishiam with the lights. " Sato explained as he sent Midprouya the location through text.

" Sure. That's no problem. " Midoriya said.

" Thanks, bro. " Sato said with relief. " I need to get going. Thanks again. "

Sato then ran off as Midoriya yelled its fine before walking out of the school to go get the rope.

...

" Everyone. Be calm. " Mina said with a smile.

" How can we be calm?! I'm so fucking nervous. " Kaminari yelled.

" Same!! " Sero said while fidgeting. " I don't want to miss up in front of so many people. "

" You're all idiots. Just ignore the audience's bullshit and play. " Bakugou yelled.

" Shut up! " Kaminari said.

" We both know that if you messed up, you would be embarrassed as well!" Sero yelled.

" Hah? Who told you that bullshit? " Bakugou asked.

" Your mom. " Kaminari said.

...

" You have a 30-second head start. " Bakugou aid calmly.

" Thank you. You're very fast. " Kaminari said before running away as Bakugou counted.

" Well. That works. " Mina said as she watched. " But... "

She then turned her head towards Jiro who was biting her fingernails due to her anxiety.

" Jiro. " Mina said as she laid her hand on her finds shoulder. Jiro jumped as she turned to Mina.

" Mina! You scared me. " Jiro said.

" Yeah, because you are too nervous. " Mina said.

" Yeah. I'm really nervous. " Jiro said. " I don't want to mess up. "

" I know. Which is why... " Mina said as she turned Jiro's head towards Kaminari being dragged back by Bakugou in his brain-dead form.

Jiro covered her mouth but she couldn't help herself from laughing at Kaminari's state. It was just too funny for her.

" Hey, guys. " Axel said as he called put to them. " We're next. "

Nodding their heads they went to the stage with determined expressions. Relaxing as much as possible before they perform, walking towards the stage.

Their performance was a hit. The audience enjoyed it, cheering for them and singing along to the song. Eri had enjoyed the performance and expressed this when she meets with the class after the performance ended.

Axel though was hungry, so he left. He walked through the crowds, looking at the stalls, and went to the stall that sold pizza.

" Axel! " He heard. He turned to his left to see Kota running up to him.

" Hey, Kota. " Axel said as he bit into his pizza.

" That was an awesome performance! But where were you? " Kota asked. He didn't Axel on stage at all.

" Oh, I was backstage with the stage effects. " Axel said.

" Stage effects? You mean like how the lights turned off and on. " Kota asked remembering how the lights switched between the class 1-A students each time.

" Yep. I can't dance or sing. " Axel said.

" It can't be that bad. " Kota said.

" It's that bad. " Axel said.

" Really? " Kota said.

" Really. " Axel said.

" Hey, Kota. Don't run off like that. " Mandalay said as she walked up to Kota and Axel.

" I'll try. " Kota said as Mandalay rolled her eyes at her nephew.

" Hey, Mandalay. " Axel greeted.

" Hey, Axel. " Mandalay said with a smile.

"Hey, you're the kid with the barriers. Remember me. " Tsuchikawa yelled as she walked up to Axel.

" I remember. " Axel said as he looked at her with a blank face.

" Hey, Axel. Let go play some games. " Kota said as he pointed towards the game stalls.

" Sure. " Axel said. They seemed like fun.

" I'm joining. " Tsuchikawa said.

" No way. That would be unfair. " Kota said.

" Hah? How so? " She asked Kota.

" You probably have more experience because of training. " Kota said.

" But so does Axel? " Tsuchikawa said.

" With his quirk, not an actual object, unlike you. " Kota said.

" He's not wrong. " Axel said.

" True, true. But I don't care. Let's go play. " Tsuchikawa said as she dragged both of them over to the stalls to play a game. Mandalay sighed but had a smile on her face. It was good to relax once and a while.

They played multiple games, like throwing a ball at targets, using a gun to shoot balloons to win prizes, and more.

" Axel. " Eri yelled as she saw his head from atop Mirio's shoulders.

Mirio noticed Axel and walked towards him with Eri on his shoulders. Nejire and Amajii followed. Axel noticed them and waved a bit to get their attention.

" Hey, guys. " Axel said as they stood in front of him.

" Hey, Axel. Who are these people? What did you guys do? Were any of the food good? " Nejire asked as she went to Axel.

" This is the Mandalay and Tsuchikawa from the Wild Wild Pussycats. This is Kota, Mandalay's nephew. " Axel introduced.

" Hello. " The three greeted at the same time.

" Hello. It's nice to meet you. Names Hadou Nejire. "

" Amajiki Tamaki. " Amajiki said quietly.

" Mirio Togata and this is Eri. " Mirio said as he placed her down on the ground. Eri gave them a small wave.

" She's so cute. " Tsuchikawa said as she looked at Eri.

" Hello, Eri. " Mandalay said with a smile. Eri looked at her and smiled a bit, but was still nervous.

" Did you have fun? " Axel asked knelt to her.

" Yes. " Eri said with a smile. Today was amazing. Axel gave a soft smile, being glad she enjoyed today.

Eri then looked over at Kota who was staring at her. She just stared back, not knowing what to do till Kota broke the ice.

" Hello. My name is Kota. What's yours? "

' Wait, no. I already know her name. Why did I ask that? Should I have asked that? '

" My name is Eri. " She said.

Axel just watched as Eri and Kota talked with each other for the first time. He then looked at his phone and noticed the time.

" Class 1-B's play will soon start. " He muttered.

" Oh yeah. We should go. " Nejire said to Mirio and Amajiki.

" What's a play? " Eri asked quietly.

" You never seen a play before? " Kota asked in surprise. Eri looked at him and nodded slowly.

" Have you watched a TV show or a movie? " Kota asked.

" Yeah. " Eri said recognizing the word.

" A play is similar to that. " Kota said as he tried to explain what it is to Eri, who listened to him. The others smiled at the sight, seeing them getting along before heading over rather the play, where Kot and Eri enjoyed the play.

By the end, they become friends, asking if they could hang out sometime, which Mandalay decided to go do with Aizawa later.

All in all, it was a good day everyone.
