Gavin exhaled when Derek asked what he wanted to avoid, but knew that Derek needed to know about it to avoid any mishap.
"You become weak, much weaker than a single level drop and another thing that mostly follows is blindness-" Gavin stopped to let his words sink in and when it did, Derek's eyes sharpened.
"What!"
"Wait... it's not permanent, just for a few days," Gavin explained, but from his tone. Even he felt a few days without sight was torture. He couldn't imagine staying a few days without seeing his beloved screen, which he used to enhance his knowledge.
Derek felt he could make do with weakness. While he was pretty sure it won't feel pleasing, it was nothing compared to being blind.
"Are you gonna quit?" Gavin asked. From his tone, Derek could tell Gavin wanted him to give up. Knowing his friend still cared about him made a barely noticeable smile form on his thin lips, but he had to do this.
