Chapter 6 system pod

System pod. Sam thought his eyes were deceiving him. He was surprised to see a system pod in here. Damnit, He don't have much time, maybe he could.... What was he thinking? Travis had said earlier that he had only 5 minutes left. The building was on self destruct, and 5 minutes was the deadline. He had to be quick.

"Sam! Sam! Are you there?" Travis voice reverberated throughout the hall. Time was running out.

"Yes. Just a minute!"

"A minute? We don't even have a second. Hurry up"

Sam scratched his head he was in a dilemma. This is one opportunity Sam had in acquiring a system. Having a system before entering the academy was quite a benefit to one. Those with a system prior entering, had a huge power gap between others that had just gained their system .

Staring at the pod, Sam realized that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity that was hard to come by. He had made up his mind.

" Travis! How long does it take someone to fuse with a system?"

Those words caught Travis in a shock. He was astounded.

" Sam, what did you just say a system?" Travis was curious. If Sam had found a system, they could sell it for a fortune. " Hurry up and bring it over!" Travis was getting excited by the moment he was wondering the benefit they could.....

"Please just answer my question!"

Travis was cut short from his thoughts. Judging from the urgency in Sam's voice. Travis almost forgot about the time frame they had left.

" 20 to 24 hours at most." Travis said.

Hearing from Travis, Sam sighed. Guess he wasn't that lucky after all.

He turned back and left leaving the pod behind. It was not like he could carry it. The pod was almost as twice his height and too big for him to carry.

Heading for the exit, he was almost overwhelmed with regrets. He had missed his chance in having a system. On getting there, Sam placed his hand on the door knob. He looked back before exiting the building.

countdown the building exploded .

Sam handed the bag, to Tyler when he got back. The items he acquired was more than enough to cover up for his application fee, but his expression said otherwise. His mind was preoccupied with the system pod.

"What do we have here?" Travis examined the items inside the bag. "This is great we could gain much,but we would have to be discreet with the transaction."

"Sure" . Sam said, his focus was in the aftermath of the blown up building.

"The system you were talking about. So where is it?"

Sam didn't reply.

"Sam! You were asking me earlier about a system you saw?"

Only then did Sam turn his gaze away from the destroyed building. He glanced at Travis and replied nonchalantly

"Nothing, just a system blue print"

A system blue print?! Travis checked the bag again but he didn't find anything. If Sam actually saw one, why didn't he bring it back with him. He was about to ask before Sam said to him as if Sam was reading his mind.

"If we sold something like that on the black market. Things could get ugly."

Right! Why didn't Travis think about it. The black market was a platform that sold various illegal things. Travis had managed to get a membership card granting him access. Travis rank at the black market was at the lowest. He had benefited quite a lot from the platform since it hid the users identity enabling him to sell most of the items he acquired. But putting up a system blue print for sale? He would be compromised.

Thank goodness Sam didn't bring it along with him, or he would be tempted to really sell it. Wait was it a system blue print or a system pod Sam had asked about earlier.

Travis placed his hand on chin glancing at Sam.

Earlier Sam had mentioned a system pod, but now he said it to be a blue print design.

Travis thought that something wasn't right. And giving the gloomy look on Sam's face, Travis suspected Sam was not telling the truth.

After sorting out everything they left and at that time it was already dark.

Sam got home that night his mind was still on the system pod. It was quite different from what he had heard about it. He saw the smooth exterior and blue outlet. The system looked like it was knewly designed. He couldn't tell Travis about it, because he was going back alone.

He was well aware that system pods were durable that a mere explosion would not affect it much at least.

He checked the time and it was just half past midnight. Travis had gone home sorting out the payment and transfer. Sam had asked Travis about how he usually sold the items they stole. Travis would imply that it was through the black market. And after that, Travis would try to change the topic. Sam was however a bit comfortable with it since the rewards were coming fairly.

Few minutes later. Sam left his house.

He walked across the street, ran into the woods before coming arriving at his destination.

He was confident that the system pod was not completely destroyed from the explosion.

Crins ville was a remote area in Arizon. It was one of the most undeveloped areas despite the advancement of technology.

The mayor of crins ville had also given up on the place he was there on his position as a figurative head. Moreso, with the sound of the explosion, it could attract agents to come and take a look. Which Is why Sam had to be fast in order to avoid questioning.

Sam couldn't figure why 'Mike' would have a lab situated here. Mike was known almost all over the Arizon, but his taste of setting labs was unique.

The once tall building was now replaced with dust and ashes. If Travis system level was a bit higher, this could have been prevented.

The explosion had resulted into a crater that replaced the building. Sam slid into the crater and began his search.

Just as Sam had guessed the system pod was there under a pile of rubble. Sam was overjoyed and elated when he found it. He proceeded to remove the rubble from it before blowing it resulting in a cloud of smoke.

He touched it and unexpectedly, it opened.

Sam was marvelled by what was inside and without waisting time he allowed his body inside.
