AUTHOR'S POV

A week later, Elias is still in detention.

"What the hell are you doing? Why am I still here? I pay you a huge sum of money just to get me out of here and now this. Lorenzo you better think of a way to get me out of here, my reputation is at stake here" Elias shouted as he spoke with his lawyer in the visiting room.

"Elias they have strong evidence against you and that's why it's difficult to bail you out but I'm trying my best to get you out of here. You have to deny all the charges filled against you, let's give them a hard time so we buy time for ourselves" Lorenzo suggested and Elias frowned.

"That doesn't sound like a good idea but I don't care how you do it as long as you get me out of here. I've got so many things I need to do" Elias said furiously as he got lost in thought.

"Don't worry, all I need is for you to be patient with me so I find clues on how to get you out of this" Lorenzo said seriously.

"Fernanda when are we leaving for Merida? We've stayed here for days now and Elias have been arrested so let's leave before anymore complications arise" Isabel said seriously and Fernanda ruffled her hair frustratedly.

"Grandma about that...." Fernanda stuttered blinking nervously.

"Fernanda!" Jeromino called from outside as he rang their doorbell.

"What's he doing here?" Abuela and Benicio gasped out angrily as they head to the door.

"Abuela, uncle let me go talk with him" Fernanda said nervously as she blocked their way.

"What's that supposed to mean Fernanda?" Abuela asked seriously.

"Who knows if he's here to cause trouble again? We can't take chances with him, he disappointed us great time so we're not letting him see you in person. If he has anything to say, he should say it to us" Benicio said seriously and they opened the door.

"You brat! What are you doing here? You have no right to be here so what the hell are you doing here?" Benicio asked seriously and Jeromino moved backwards.

"Emm... Uncle Benicio, Abuela..." Jeromino uttered but Abuela cut in.

"Don't ever mention our names again. You're a stranger to us so you don't have to act like we're close. Why are you here?" Abuela shouted and Jeromino brought his face down.

"I'm so sorry for what I did to Fernanda. I wasn't opportune to apologize before to you all but I hope you find a place in your hearts to forgive me" Jeromino apologized on his knees.

"Don't you think it's too late for this. Stop embarrassing yourself and go back home. Don't even think about coming back here" Abuela said coldly and they both went inside leaving Jeromino on his knees.

"Abuela, just give a second to speak with him. I think he has something very important to say to me" Fernanda uttered trying to convince Abuela but Abuela glared at her.

"Fernanda you can't see him. He's no longer part of your life so don't bother trying to see him. You're moving on with your life so it's only right if you no longer see him" Abuela said defiantly and everyone went back to their rooms.

"Grandma it won't take long, let me just hear what he wants to say" Fernanda said slowly and Isabel looked away.

"He's the reason why you're still here in Mexico city. If you're trying to move on then you should do it completely, that boy is no good for you my dear so listen to Abuela" Isabel said then went to her room as well and Fernanda walked to the window to see if Jeromino was still there and to her surprise, he was still on his knees.

"What does he think he's doing? At this rate nobody would even listen to his apologize" Fernanda whispered worriedly and brought out her phone from her pocket.

"You saved my life so this is the least I can do for you, I said you would never have my number again and here I am, giving it out willingly" Fernanda added then texted him.

~ "Stop kneeling, no one is going to have pity on you so get up and leave. Meet me by 8:30pm at the address I'm going to send to you" ~ Fernanda texted and she exhaled nervously.

"Fernanda what are you still doing there? Come have a cup of coffee with me" Isabel announced as she went to the kitchen to get herself a cup of coffee.

"Coming grandma" Fernanda said and she looked at the window for the last time and found Jeromino smiling back to his car.

"What's funny" Fernanda said sarcastically then she walked to Isabel and they went to the rooftop.

"So Fernanda are we leaving tomorrow?" Isabel asked as she had a sip from her cup of coffee.

"Grandma I'm still thinking about it. Elias just got arrested, we still have a long way to go to send him to jail, I can't do that if I travel to Merida. I have a case I have to pursue" Fernanda explained and Isabel scoffed.

"Just say you have something else keeping you here. Fernanda is Elias the father of Marisol?" Isabel asked out the blue and Fernanda coughed.

"What are you saying grandma? Why such question out of the blue?" Fernanda asked catching her breathe.

"I was just asking, you don't have to overreact. It just feels like Elias isn't Marisol's father" Isabel said slowly.

"He's a bad guy and he doesn't deserve to be my daughter's father and that's why you feel that way" Fernanda covered up looking away and she stared at her wristwatch.

I better go take a nap before going to see Jeromino, I don't want to look all tired and exhausted. I wouldn't want to kill my charisma. Fernanda said in her head looking at an empty space.

"Grandma, I feel a bit sleepy. I want to go take a nap" Fernanda uttered and she stood up.

"OK, go ahead dear" Isabel said with a smile and Fernanda head to her room.

Hours later at the restaurant Fernanda texted Jeromino.

"Why's he not here yet?" Fernanda uttered looking around as she had a glance on her wristwatch.

"Where's Jeromino sneaking out to this late?" Agustin asked his secretary as they watched Jeromino from the rooftop.

"Maybe he's going clubbing, Guys his age only do that this late at night" Williams said slowly and Agustin scoffed.

"I don't think that's the case. Go after Jeromino and tell me who he's meeting with because I have the feeling he's going to see someone I don't like" Agustin said seriously and Williams bowed then took his leave.

A call came on Agustin's phone.

"Why are you calling me this late at night?" Agustin said over the phone.

"Boss, we're in trouble. Hymen got arrested by the police, I have no idea how they found our hideout. Luckily I got away before they would get me" One of his men said and Agustin's eyes went wide open.

"What are the charges and when did this happen? Who pressed the charges?" Agustin asked angrily.

"Boss this happened minutes ago and he was charged with murder of Maria Jose. Boss I thought Bruno took care of it but how did it get reopened?" He asked nervously as he looked around his environment.

"Lie low for the moment while I take care of Hymen's case" Agustin instructed.

"But Boss I need some cash to lie low, I need to leave the country for the time being but I'm broke" He said slowly and Agustin clenched his fist.

"I will send you some cash but before that you need to do something very important for me" Agustin said angrily then hung up, he put a call across to Williams.

"When you get to the place Jeromino is heading, send me the address" Agustin ordered then hung up.

Jeromino got to the restaurant and met with Fernanda.

"You wanted to speak with me and you came late" Fernanda said rudely.

"I'm so sorry Fernanda, I got caught up in traffic. We should order for something" Jeromino said and Fernanda crossed her legs.

"I'm not hungry so go ahead and tell me why you want to see me" Fernanda said seriously.

"Oh okay, I will go straight to the point. Fernanda I want to have a DNA test with your baby" Jeromino said and Fernanda coughed looking away.

"What did you just say?" She asked pretending not to have heard.

"Let's run another DNA test" Jeromino repeated and Fernanda's phone started ringing.

"Hello officer" She said over the phone as she walked to the other side.

"We've arrested him just like we planned and we're running some investigation, would you like to be a witness?"

"That's great news officer. I will be right there" Fernanda said excitedly and hung up. She ran back to their table then picked up her wallet.

"Jeromino let's schedule our conversation some other day, I've got plans" Fernanda said swiftly then ran out.

Fernanda went down the street looking out for a taxi but she saw a man, lying on the ground holding his stomach.

"Sir are you okay?" Fernanda asked as she ran to him.

"Oh my goodness, sir you're bleeding. We need to rush you to the hospital. Help" Fernanda called out for help but suddenly someone knocked her out from behind.
