Guardian

"Did you have to go and cause trouble at the ball, Kion?" His sister asks Jane asks but he only smiles as he takes a sip of wine.

"You know I have a thing for a dramatic entrance besides if it wasn't for her we wouldn't be alive no thanks to those wolves." Kion says trying his best to calm himself.

"Mei, our friend is a wolf and she's still coming into her power. You could've killed her." Jane says with a tired sigh at her brother's antics.

"I didn't think she would be at the party." Kion responds placing his glass on his desk.

"Then you still don't understand how she thinks, Kion and that could cost her life." Jane says and Kion falls silent.

"Don't let your parent's experiences define your views Kion. I won't do you any good." She says before wishing him goodnight and heading towards her room leaving him alone with his thoughts. He stays in his home office for a while longer before he heads to his bedroom to get some rest.

"Are you keeping a distance?" Jane asks as she takes a bite of her toast.

"I'm not sure yet. Only Mei is family no one else" He says shrugging his shoulders.

"Blood doesn't make family though blood is thicker than water. Love makes a family." Jane says repeating the words Mei once said to them before they left her at age 12 after their first shift.

"It's because we're werewolves that our parents sold us to the highest bidder." Kion says still bitter about that. It's understandable because that's a pin that doesn't go away until you have closure.

"You've been suppressing your wolf ever since we left for eight years just hope it doesn't come back to bite you in the rass." Jane says.

"I don't need it. I can rely on my shadow abilities." Kion responds with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

"Fine. You're the boss but do us all a favor and don't pull something like that again." Jane says before leaving the room little does she know that it wasn't him who caused trouble at the ball but something in him insisted that he take the blame for the twin he doesn't know who's the polar opposite of him and has a dark mind with an even darker past but considers Mei to be his princess, she saved him from being killed when she was nine after he escaped his captors.

She and her family took him in, cared for him, and nursed him back to health but he couldn't stay so one night when they were asleep since he could use his Alpha abilities without complications at such a young age locked away her memory of him as to protect her and made a promise to return to her when it was safe.

"What did the Royal family do to you?" Kade's 'woman' asks as he looks through the files on his desk. He doesn't respond to her as the moonlight shines down on her showing her body dressed in pearly white lingerie much to his annoyance since she's anything but innocent. A spy sent by his enemies to keep an eye on him but he's two steps ahead as he learned from Mei.

"How can I help you?" She asks him but he doesn't respond to her still going through the files in his hand. With a huff of annoyance, she flicks the light switch turning the lights on but it doesn't work in her favor as he suddenly appears behind her and holding her up by the neck. She struggles in his grasp as she sees the familiar crazed glint in his eyes and sadistic smile.

"Leave." He says as he lets her go and she scrambles out of the room her neck sporting bruises. He flips the switch again and the room plunges into darkness with the light of the moon shining through the window. He looks up at it lost in thought wondering what she'll say if she saw how much he caned over the years.

'You'll understand, won't you?' He asks himself before closing the curtains with a deep breath.

'Don't worry. She's still our princess and we're her guardian.' His wolf Dane says comforting him which brings a small smile to his face.

'Yea, she is.' He responds before heading out to one of his clubs needing a break. When he arrives he immediately heads to his office where his most trusted partner and friend work keeping things in order.

"I didn't think you were coming in today." She says looking up at him as he takes a seat on the sofa.

"I wasn't going to but had a change of heart." He responds as he's handed a drink by one of the servers.

"Hmm."She says before she goes back to work leaving him alone with his thoughts hoping that he's doing the right thing.
