Chapter 057 Tesseract.

New York, Luo Bai's House

Polaris was sitting on the sofa, eating a burger and watching TV. Suddenly, she noticed a yellow portal forming out of thin air. Her eyes lit up instantly.

She quickly stood up from the sofa. In the next moment, Luo Bai walked out of the portal.

"Master Luo Bai, you're back! Would you like dinner? I can cook for you!" Polaris said excitedly, putting down her burger and getting ready to head to the kitchen.

Luo Bai, amused by her enthusiasm, asked with a half-joking tone, "Didn't you say you couldn't cook?"

Polaris, a little embarrassed, replied, "Well, while you were gone, I taught myself a bit by watching online tutorials."

Luo Bai was taken aback. Polaris learned to cook?

Seeing his silence, Polaris quickly explained, "It might not be perfect, but I tried it myself, and it's edible. Not bad, actually!"

Luo Bai burst out laughing at her serious tone. "To be honest, I'm quite surprised."

"Surprised? Why?" Polaris asked curiously.

"Well, when I assigned you the role of housekeeper as punishment, you seemed reluctant. It was only supposed to be for three months. I didn't expect you to go out of your way to learn how to cook," Luo Bai explained.

Given Polaris' temperament, he doubted she'd ever stepped foot in a kitchen. The fact that she had taken the initiative to learn cooking really caught him off guard.

Polaris could understand his surprise and quickly added, "At first, it was because we weren't familiar with each other. But you've helped me so much. You let me stay in your villa, encouraged me to work on my powers, and even helped drive away Professor X's influence."

Luo Bai nodded at the mention of this.

"So, what did Stark say?" Luo Bai asked.

"Mr. Stark said I'm free now. The global warrant for my arrest was canceled after discussions between various countries. I'm really grateful to you. I don't know how else to repay you, so I've been helping with cooking and chores," Polaris responded, sounding a bit sheepish.

Her face flushed, clearly embarrassed, but Luo Bai found her gratitude genuine. It was a relief to know his help hadn't gone unnoticed.

"Don't worry too much about it," Luo Bai said reassuringly. "I know I made you the housekeeper as punishment for breaking into my house, but you've done well. I'm happy to help you in return, so don't feel burdened by it."

Hearing this, Polaris became even more embarrassed.

"Umm... Master Luo Bai, I'll go prepare something for you to eat," Polaris said and was about to head to the kitchen.

Luo Bai stopped her. "Wait, I have something to tell you."

Polaris paused and asked softly, "What is it, Master Luo Bai?"

"It's not exactly an order, but I plan to move soon. I may not be coming here as often," Luo Bai said.

"Move? Where are you going? I'll start packing for you! Just let me know what you need to bring, and I'll get it ready!" Polaris said eagerly.

Luo Bai was caught off guard by her enthusiasm. "You want to come with me?"

"Of course! I'm your housekeeper," Polaris responded confidently.

"But it was only supposed to be for three months," Luo Bai reminded her.

Polaris was unfazed and said earnestly, "Master Luo Bai, if you don't mind, I can continue being your housekeeper indefinitely!"

Luo Bai fell silent, taken aback by her determination.

Polaris continued, "I don't need a salary. I can earn my own money now. I haven't even used any of yours during this time."

She pulled out a box from the room, the one Natasha Romanoff had sent earlier. When she opened it, Luo Bai noticed that the money inside remained untouched.

"You never used the money?" Luo Bai asked, surprised.

"I used a bit at first, but I returned it all," Polaris explained.

Curious, Luo Bai asked, "Where did you get the money?"

"Mr. Stark helped me find a job. I didn't want to trouble him, but I couldn't keep using your money, so I went along with it," Polaris said seriously.

Luo Bai realized that Tony Stark had lent a hand. As he pondered this, Polaris added, "Master Luo Bai, if you don't mind, I'd like to continue being your housekeeper. I've been practicing my powers, as you advised, and I won't be a burden to you anymore. I'm not the same as before. I can control my abilities much better now."

To demonstrate, Polaris used her powers. It was clear that her control over magnetic fields had significantly improved. She could now use her abilities with ease.

Luo Bai felt a sense of pride. He smiled and praised, "Very impressive. I'm sure you'll become even stronger in the future."

Polaris beamed at the compliment and quickly asked, "Then, can I move with you?"

"Not for now," Luo Bai gently refused.

After all, he was moving to the New York Sanctum, which was a part of the mystical world of Kamar-Taj. Non-magical beings were not allowed inside. Even though Polaris had proven her sincerity and skill, she lacked the magical talent to enter the Sanctum.

Smiling, Luo Bai reassured her, "Although I'm moving, it doesn't mean I won't be coming here. Opening a portal is quick and easy. While I'm away, you can look after the villa."

"Alright!" Polaris agreed enthusiastically.

Luo Bai handed her a piece of paper. "This is my phone number. If you need anything, give me a call."

Polaris quickly saved the number in her phone.

Just then, the doorbell rang. Luo Bai knew without looking that it was Stark.

When he opened the door, Tony Stark stood there with his usual enthusiasm.

"Ah, my friend Luo Bai! I've missed you!" Stark greeted warmly.

Luo Bai smiled. "You seem to be in good spirits."

"Of course! I took your advice and upgraded my suit. Let me show you!" Stark said, then called out, "JARVIS."

In an instant, an Iron Man suit flew in from a distance, scanning Stark with infrared before assembling itself around him. In less than a minute, Stark was fully suited up.

"How's it look? Pretty cool, huh?" Stark asked proudly.

"Very cool," Luo Bai nodded in approval.

"Want to come to my place and take a closer look? We can brainstorm together. I'm really interested in that magic suit idea you mentioned," Stark suggested.

Luo Bai chuckled, "There's still time for that."

Stark shrugged with a grin. "Fair enough. Actually, I'm currently working on an anti-Hulk suit. You know, just in case Banner has a bad day. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it."

Luo Bai was about to respond when he suddenly sensed a powerful energy fluctuation.

"Wait, Stark. Something's wrong," Luo Bai said, his tone serious.

Stark looked confused. "What's going on?"

"I just felt an abnormal energy surge," Luo Bai muttered.

Stark, now concerned, asked, "Why didn't I pick up on it? Is something happening to Earth? Are we dealing with a multiverse invasion?"

"I'm not sure yet. Let me check," Luo Bai said, using the Time Stone to trace the source of the disturbance.

What he discovered startled him. The energy surge was coming from the Tesseract.
