Agatha was honestly confused at this point.
Just as she was about to use her witchcraft to control Luo Bai's mind, the floating cloak draped over him suddenly flew towards her, wrapping around her hands and restraining them. Taking advantage of this moment, Luo Bai hurled a magic energy ball at her.
Agatha had the ability to absorb magical energy. Any magic aimed at her would not harm her but be absorbed instead. So, the magic ball did not physically harm Agatha.
But her heart was shaken.
This space had been cursed by her. No magic or witchcraft, other than her own, should have been usable within this barrier. Yet Luo Bai had just cast a magic ball, claiming he'd only just learned the spell.
Which means...
Had Luo Bai learned her witchcraft during the short time they were fighting?
Is that even possible?!
"How could you learn it in such a short time!?" Agatha shouted, incredulous.
Luo Bai responded calmly, "Because I'm talented. Otherwise, why would the Darkhold choose me?"
"..."
Talented?
Agatha was starting to get angry, but she tried to remain composed. Sure, maybe Luo Bai was talented in learning magic and witchcraft. The magic energy ball he cast was basic, after all. Learning that wouldn't be impossible for a talented mage.
She snorted, dismissive. "So what if you learned that? Do you really think you can defeat me with such a simple spell?"
But Luo Bai smiled. "Who said I only learned that one spell?"
"???"
Before Agatha could even process his words, Luo Bai released another spell—and suddenly, the barrier of her curse vanished.
Agatha's eyes widened.
Wait, did I see that right?
"You canceled my spell!?" she asked, shocked.
"Is that so surprising?" Luo Bai asked back.
Now Agatha was beginning to panic. She tried to free herself from the grip of the floating cloak, but it was too late. Luo Bai had already cast another spell.
Black and red light spread across the room, forming a new enchantment within the mirror dimension. This time, it restricted the use of magic altogether.
Agatha stared in disbelief.
"How... how is this possible?" she whispered, staring at the glowing black-red symbols that surrounded her, forming a barrier she couldn't escape from.
Agatha could no longer keep her cool. Her mind was racing.
No, I've studied witchcraft my whole life. How did this happen?
Looking at the barrier, she could hardly believe it. Luo Bai had really learned her witchcraft.
But how?
"I've never even used a spell to cancel a barrier! How did you do this?" she demanded.
Luo Bai replied casually, "I figured it out."
Figured it out?!
Not only had he learned how to create a barrier after seeing it once, but he'd also figured out how to undo it?
Agatha took a deep breath, almost choking on her disbelief.
This man's talent was terrifying.
Still, she wasn't ready to give in.
"But what about the incantation?" Agatha challenged. "No matter how talented you are, you can't just guess the incantation!"
Most witchcraft requires incantations, and Agatha's spells were no exception. She had created those spells herself. There was no way Luo Bai could guess the exact words.
Luo Bai shrugged. "The incantation? I just guessed. It wasn't hard to figure out."
"..."
Agatha's defenses were completely shattered. Not only had Luo Bai learned her witchcraft after seeing it once, but he'd also guessed the correct incantations.
This has to be cheating.
Agatha had originally come to steal the Darkhold from Kamar-Taj, thinking she could do so easily now that the Ancient One was gone. But she hadn't expected to run into a mage like Luo Bai.
He could learn spells after seeing them once, guess incantations, and now, he had completely turned the battle around.
How was she supposed to fight this?
Agatha, one of the most powerful witches on Earth, was about to lose to a newly minted mage.
Still, she wasn't quite ready to admit defeat.
"No wonder the Ancient One left you in charge of Kamar-Taj. I give up; the Darkhold is yours," she said, trying to salvage her pride.
But Luo Bai just smiled. "You're mistaken. You didn't give up the Darkhold. The Darkhold gave up on you."
Agatha sighed, knowing deep down he was right. "Fine. You're incredibly talented, I'll give you that. I've lost. Release the spell, and I'll leave Kamar-Taj peacefully."
She thought admitting defeat would save her.
But then Luo Bai spoke, his voice cold.
"Intruders must be punished."
Agatha froze. "Intruder? What do you mean?"
"As the Supreme Sorcerer of Kamar-Taj and guardian of Earth, I have the authority to execute those who trespass," Luo Bai replied.
With that, he unleashed the dark magic he had learned from the Darkhold. Black energy surrounded Agatha, and before she could react, he began to drain her power.
Agatha was horrified. Unable to use her magic, she could only watch as Luo Bai absorbed her dark energy.
This meant Luo Bai had now mastered all of her witchcraft, along with her power.
"You... you absorbed all my power!" Agatha cried, shocked.
As her strength was drained, Agatha rapidly aged, turning into a frail, white-haired old woman.
Angry and desperate, she yelled, "You're the Supreme Sorcerer! If the other sorcerers of Kamar-Taj find out that you're using dark magic, have you thought about the consequences!?"
Luo Bai was unbothered. "I'm not concerned with consequences. I only know that those who trespass on Kamar-Taj—and Earth—must pay the price. And your punishment is exile, Agatha Harkness."
He opened a portal to another dimension.
Agatha was banished.
As the portal closed, the floating cloak returned to Luo Bai, wrapping around him once more.
