My brows raise at the voice, I turn to see a fairly handsome man in his late twenties. He is clean-cut with nice street clothes on which makes his ugly green ring stand out all the more.
"I didn't know a Green Lantern was staying here?" I say without much real surprise.
He gives me finger guns, "It is my home planet and all."
This time I actually a bit surprised, "I thought humans weren't advanced enough to be considered for a position yet?"
He rubs the back of his head, "Well, this came to that and that was a crashed alien ship that had a magical ring that said it chose me."
I nod understanding the situation, "Have you already contacted the other lanterns?"
"Yeah, I am a full-fledged member." He says with a proud smile.
"That is good, tell them when it comes to earth I will only handle disaster level threats or higher. Anything else is for earthlings to deal with."
He seems confused at my words, "I forgot to ask, who are you?"
With a smirk, I toss him a business card, "Lucifer Morningstar if you ever feel like switching professions to only earth-related feel free to join my wife's company."
He smirks at the business card uncaring of my name, "I don't think they would let me keep the ring if I quit."
"Hmph," I laugh a bit, "They would have no choice in the matter."
His eyes show confusion as I continue, "Just ask your elders, they will know."
He smiles again, "Well thanks, if the job gets too hard I'll think about it."
I shrug as I put my arms around my wives, "Do you two want to do something before we go home?"
Angela rubs her chin seriously, "I heard there was this mortal place called an 'Arcade', I would like to try it."
Hela nods, "That does sound interesting."
I smirk at their interest, "Very well. I know the best one on earth."
I take the girls to Funbox in New Hampshire, best arcade in the USA. We play a few different games and I show them how to play the virtual games. Angela seems enthralled by Dance Dance Revolution, although I've never played it I do enjoy watching her.
Hela did say she wanted bonding time and I guess she is getting what she wanted. I don't think she meant playing Dance Dance Revolution with her estranged half-sister for two hours straight, but it's better than nothing I suppose.
After losing over twenty times in Mortal Kombat I think Hela wanted a break and went back to Dance Dance Revolution. I enjoyed watching the sisters play as it was quite funny to see a battle-hardened butcher twirl like a child. While Angela doesn't have as much experience fighting she was still a hunter of Heven so she is also a warrior.
As night fell and the arcade began to close I brought the girls home. On the couch, Jessica, Ruby, Blackfire, and Tandy sit watching the first twilight movie.
As we arrive next to the kitchen bar Jessica raises a hand, "Hey," Blackfire just gives us a nod.
Ruby ignores us as she is curled up on the recliner in a blanket with only her head peaking out.
Tandy stands up with a smile, "How was your day out?"
"We went to the arcade," Hela states rather plainly as if she wasn't just twirling in an arcade full of people.
Angela nods at her words, "It was rather enthralling."
I am baffled at this duo's blandness, they are siblings I guess.
Tandy smiles pulling them to the couch to sit down, "Was it the one in New Hampshire, I love that one."
As they begin to chat I feel another contract get signed and this one is rather interesting. With a smirk, I step behind Ruby's reclines and pull it back so she is looking up at me.
"Can you watch the house tomorrow? You don't have school right?"
She grunts at my words and gives a small nod before remembering something, "Oh, Komand'r and I have a friend at school. He is a huge fan of yours, mind meeting him and giving him an autograph?"
I nod, "Of course, I'll be home Sunday, bring him over then."
She nods looking back at the TV, "Thanks."
Letting her recliner go back up I walk behind Jessica and give her a kiss on the cheek. She wraps her arm around my head kisses me back before going back to the movie. I roll my eyes before giving Tandy a kiss as well.
As I pull away I give her a smile, "I hope to see the progress you've made on your training next time."
She gives me a confident smirk, "You'll be surprised."
Hela who is next to Tandy turns with a polite smile, "Goodbye husband," I don't think she quite gets it yet, but she has the spirit.
Seeing her waiting I give her a kiss on the cheek as well. Angela gives me a nod while Blackfire seems very focused on Bella currently being harassed by some men.
With a sigh, I vanish from the room and reappear again in my least favorite city on earth, Gotham. In front of me is the boy wonder himself, Robin, but he is not wearing his green, red, and black spandex. No, he is wearing a far edgier black and blue outfit with his usual black mask.
He seems to be thinking hard looking at the contract in front of him on the dirty ground. Looking around we are in a run-down dock warehouse that is seemingly entirely empty except for the wooden box Robin is sitting on.
As I am about to ask about, everything, the boy speaks first, "Can you revive the dead?"
I am a bit taken aback by his question, "I can."
He sighs as he leans over holding his head, he picks up the contract and hands it to me. I see his requested powers were 'Darkness Control', 'Super Speed', and 'Psychokinesis'.
With a nod, I snap my fingers accepting the contract. Darkness begins to roll off his body as he looks at his hands which seem to vanish to black shadowy dust. He flexes his fingers and they re-appear in a clenched fist.
Drawing on some magic I poke the boy's forehead opening his third eye. He will never be able to use magic in his lifetime but he is now capable of manipulating the material work with his mind.
He grunts in pain as he holds his head falling to his knees off the box.
"There are two ways you can get super speed, either I connect you to the speed force or the cosmic energies."
He looks up at me through his fingers, "Which is stronger?"
"The speed force by far… But the cosmic energies can never be stolen from you except by me."
Without hesitation, he grunts, "Speed force."
I shrug, "Fair enough."
Kneeling down in front of him I sweep my hand out in front of me tearing the veil that separates this world from the speed force. Lightning crackles around my hand until I gently set it on his back.
*BOOM*
A bolt of black lightning shatters the dock warehouse blowing the debris in every which direction. The water in the bay is pushed out no longer hitting the docks and the night sky hangs shimmering above.
He looks up at me phasing in and out of existence as black lightning recoils off him.
Robin's voice seems to echo through the empty pier, "Where is Jason Todd?"
