Chapter 2

"I don't suppose that you star-ed this madness ay love?" He folded his arms.

Raven detected that she was somewhat oblivious to the dark energy that this school was emitting, the closer she got to find out what was behind it, the harder the mystery hit back, it was like a thump of a hammer on her head.

She covered her head at the pain and touched her forehead, Trigon had been quiet for a while.

Zee thumped her shoulder "You need to rest"

Constantine pulled up a card and the ends seared with magic and faded, he waved his hand when it stung him. "Bollocks"

"What in the bloody hell.." His voice faltered.

"Even our powers are warped," Zee said as blue energy burned off her fingers.

"You got into my head didn't you?" He turned to Raven.

"I had to, it's not a good place. The terror attacked you didn't it?"

"There I was minding my own business and brooding about losing a game uh chess to Etrigan and boom, I'm in my teens, I will not go through this again," He said vehemently.

"Something about this place is not right," Zee said holding her shoulders and shivered

"No shite" He rolled his eyes.

"It's full of dark energy and it's feeding on nostalgia."

"Who in the bloody hell would enjoy going over this rollercoaster again?" His eyes rolled then they both looked at Raven who was and already is a teenager.

"Do you remember what happened to you?" She said calmly to Zee.

Zee held her chin thinking back to the past "I missed my show, I did see my father"

Two minutes ago in the Zambezi, there she was in a local arena, she was putting up a show for the locals at the safari.

"It's showtime Lady Zatanna" The African renter in khakis supposed and she smiled, he tugged at his shirt and smiled as well, he had been in a bad mood all day.

Sure the experts thought it was a little unprecedented and impractical, she invited them too.

She walked to the platform with the spotlight on her, the rest of the audience section was dark, she grinned at the eyes focused on her and the sceptics watching as two growling leopards walked out of their cages to the astonishment of spectators.

She heard a child screaming in their local dialect, by intonation, possibly to move away from these terrifying creatures.

They moved to each side and growled, the audience clapped at how tamed they were.

"Now, esteemed audience, I will make this deceptive duo of spotted apex predators disappear!"

The translator from the other section repeated it in their dialect and she caught the anticipation on their faces.

The wand slipped from her sleeves and as she was about to chant the spell, she saw a light shaped like an ankh over the circus, over her head and it swallowed her.

The audience's faces turned at the magic act and cowered making their escape as the leopards leapt down running through the tent's exit.

"Hmm, I find this act a little inconsistent but full of surprises" The explorer said.

"Don't tell me you heard that part after the disappearance?" Raven said and Zee broke into a smile shaking her head with her eyes closed.

"That's what the explorers would say"

Constantine snorted "Not possible, your dad belongs to the mask now and_"

"Shh, I followed Fate once I got to the end of the stage, this white light entrapped me"

"The old hook line and sinker" He grinned with a look of entertainment.

"You are such an asshole" Her arms dropped.

"What, you're the one wearing fishnets for a living" He laughed.

Raven braced at Jinx and she had a pink pixie cut, wore a white vest with a pink tartan skirt and boots. She hung her bag looking Raven in the eye.

"What?" She said moving past her, they were cautious of speaking around the others.

"They don't know who they are"

"There's the Specter," Zee pointed at the tall one at the back in a green shirt with grey sleeves, denim and green baseball boots.

"How can you be so sure?" He asked and the tall brawler smashed a boy into a locker when he stepped on his foot.

The bell rang and the voices rumbled as the halls emptied.

"Hey, you three, get to class" The hall monitor said.

"We might as well enjoy it" Zee smiled hanging her backpack.

"I don't suppose this school has a boozer, don't it?"

"No" Raven said dully as she left.

"I put a protection spell on everyone just in case we might lose it again" She reminded.

"Don't shove your head in a beer can, got it"
