Scarlett knew she couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, so she'd always avoided singing. But when Jack dared her to sing, she had no choice but to put on a show. She sang Jay Chou's "Confession Balloon" in a monotone that made Jack comment, "I never want to go to France or even drink coffee again."
Scarlett retorted, "Coffee isn't good for kids anyway. So, in a way, my singing is educational."
From then on, she took a liking to Jay Chou's songs. After all, he had a vast repertoire, and she'd grown a thick skin thanks to Jack's teasing.
Today, she was halfway through "The Seventh Chapter of the Night" when Jack interrupted, "You've really captured the essence of the song."
Scarlett looked puzzled, "Really? Is it good?"
Jack replied, "I always thought the instrumental was creepy, but you've managed to make it sound creepy without it..."
Scarlett, unfazed, replied, "Time to get up and get ready."
Jack lazily responded, "Ten more minutes."
