Anna pursed her lips and nodded, she exhaled in relief.
Anna's eyes fixed on Harrison, her mind still reeling with questions.
Why had he risked his health to save them?
They didn't even know him that well, and yet he had put his life on the line for them, this was the second time he helped them but why?
Was he just being nice?
As she stood there, lost in thought, the doctor turned to her and said, "We need to get him warmed up and dry"
Anna nodded, still feeling a bit dazed. She watched the male nurse remove Harrison's wet jacket and shirt, revealing a smooth, strong, muscular chest.
She felt a flutter in her chest, her face turned crimson, he wasn't the school hunk for nothing, but she quickly pushed the feelings aside.
As they worked to warm Harrison up, Anna couldn't help but steal glances at him.
She noticed the way his dark hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck, and the way his eyelashes fluttered as he drifted in and out of consciousness, his beautiful brows furrowed slightly maybe because of pain yet his cold and oppressive aura still surrounded him like a force field.
Anna was lost in thoughts when she suddenly remembered Delilah,
"Sir, what about her?"
She asked the doctor, who just took out the thermometer from Delilah's mouth.
"40.9, that's very high," the doctor exclaimed, his voice laced with concern.
"She's experiencing hyperpyrexia, a severe fever that can lead to seizures, brain damage, or even death if left untreated." He told another nurse who was taking the record.
The doctor's words sent a chill down Anna's spine, her body trembled, her knees softened, and she reached out to grab something before she fell.
She watched in alarm as the doctor quickly called out to the nurses, "We need to get her cooled down, stat! We can't have an ice bath, so get me some acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and a cooling blanket."
The nurses scrambled to follow the doctor's orders as he turned to Anna and said, "Let's get you checked out too. Follow me."
" Will she…?" Anna wanted to ask if Delilah will be alright, but the doctor interrupted her,
" She will be fine, put your mind at rest alright?"
Anna nodded and followed the doctor to another ward, accompanied by a nurse. Harrison was pushed out of Delilah's ward, his stretcher taken to a different room to get his wet clothes changed.
When Anna was done changing into a warm set of clothes, the doctor checked her over, muttering "mild hypothermia" and "dehydration."
" You are very strong, I was worried you might pass out, but you didn't, you're a brave soldier", He said, patting her shoulder.
Anna responded with a bitter smile and a nod. She suddenly felt the pain behind her head and instinctively held her head.
The doctor noticed this," What happened, are you alright?"
Anna shook her head," I felt a sharp pain behind my head before I passed out, and it still hurts" she said.
The doctor mentioned some symptoms, and she nodded positively.
His face darkened, but he didn't say anything," Let me see it" he said a while later.
