Law of Survival

What if one day the whole world suddenly turns into a fantasy RPG survival game. A game in which countless beings compete to occupy the next spot as the god of reality. This is the survival of the fittest! P.S. I published the first chapter of this novel as Daoist5TyieK with the title "Law of Evolution" however, I lost the credentials of the account and cannot log in anymore. I will carry on publishing the novel on this account.

The Start of Everything

"Li JinHai, come down, dinner's ready!" The voice came from a middle-aged woman that was wearing an apron while standing in front of the kitchen.

The woman appeared to be in her thirties although she was already 44. Her long black hair were tied in a golden ribbon giving her a sort of noble countenance. She was not tall and this made her look even younger and cuter. A kind smile was on her face as she opened the oven to take out something from it.

"I'm coming mom." A young boy around 16 years old got down from the stairs.

The boy's look was rather peculiar. His hairs were the typical short Chinese hairs, straight and black, his left eye was black too and looked quite normal however his right eye was quite unique. It was not black like the left one, in fact it was golden and it was also extremely bright like when a golden ingot is on the point of melting.

This particular trait of his made him stand out among all his peers making him look handsome and mysterious. Apart from his right eye, all his other traits were average, he was not tall, and although his body looked slightly built it was nothing too exaggerated. In fact, the 16-years old boy had never hit the gym in his life, it was his deceased maternal grandfather, an retired martial arts military instructor who forced his training on him since he was a kid, hence making him slightly buffed.

As the boy entered the kitchen his face lost some shades of happiness as he looked at the table and exclaimed: "Pizza?! Again? We ate pizza yesterday for dinner too!"

"Oh, my dear, don't make a fuss over everything and just eat it. " Sighed the woman.

"Ok, I'll eat it, but only because your pizza is delicious." The boy smiled at his mother.

The boy's name was Li JinHai, this particular name meant Golden Sea and had been chosen for him by his maternal grandfather because of his right eye. He lived in Hangzhou with his mother. As for his father? His father had been an elite soldier, an extremely high-class one. He actually was one of the students who trained under his maternal grandfather.

Li JinHai's father's career looked extremely bright but he suddenly died on a mission when his son was only 5. Although it was a mission for the country, it was a secret one and in the end it resulted in a failure, so the government covered the whole matter up and Li JinHai and his mother were left alone. Even his grandfather resigned from the army after this incident.

Li JinHai's mother's job as a cashier in a supermarket was not enough to sustain them so when JinHai turned 12 and his grandfather passed away he had to find a part-time job. Going to school and working took most of JinHai's time and so far, he did not manage to make even one real friend in his life.

On the other hand because of his almost magical look he was quite popular between the girls in his school and some of them even asked him out but sadly he could not skip his job and he was forced to reject all the invitations.

Usually, he would get home only for dinner and in his free time, he would study and train in the martial arts that his grandfather taught him. You could say that JinHai was not enjoying his life, he was just living it, trying to reach the end of the day just to repeat the whole process the day after.

Li JinHai's mother was looking at him eating the pizza she made, she had a beautiful smile on her face.

Suddenly, her expression hardened "Dear, I'm so sorry I couldn't give our little JinHai a proper life." She truly felt sorry for the life that Li JinHai was living and she could not help but blame herself. "If only you were still here..."

"Mom, it was delicious!" Exclaimed Li JinHai while he was cleaning his mouth with a towel then he took his dishes and cleaned them. "I still have to study for tomorrow's test so I'm going up." He said.

"Sweetheart are you sure you are not studying too much? You are always on the books never going out with your friends!"

"Don't worry mom I'm fine. My marks have to be good so that I can do well in the GaoKao and enter a good university, I can't relax too much." Li JinHai wanted to study languages after high school and he wanted to enter one of the major universities.

As his mother sighed JinHai went back to his room. His bedroom was a normal bedroom, the average high schooler's room. There was a bed, and a desk with a computer that he managed to buy after winning first place in the martial art competition that was held each year in his school. Actually, maybe he was skilled enough to compete on a national level.

He started training in taekwondo and Sanda when he was just 5. His grandfather thought that this could help and strengthen the boy after the loss of his father. After 7 years of constant daily training with his grandfather Li JinHai became quite accomplished in these two arts and he basically won every school competition after his grandfather's death. Finally, after he got the computer, he could play the RPG games which he always loved but never could enjoy because of his family's poor condition. You can say that apart from martial art and school, RPGs were JinHai's only interest.

JinHai sat on the chair near his desk and opened his physics book. Physics and maths were the two subjects he disliked the most. No matter how many times he read all those logical and numerical processes, they were just entering from one ear and slipping out from the other.

"Sigh."

Half an hour passed and all of a sudden Li JinHai closed the book: "Gosh, why do I have to study physics? What on earth is it useful to?" Exclaimed Li JinHai. He could study physics for an entire day but the moment he would close the book he would forget everything. It was like he was allergic to this subject.

He started to feel tired so he switched off the light, lied on the bed and closed his eyes. Another day came to an end for Li JinHai and he was well aware that the next day was going to be more or less the same for him, his life was like a loop. After a few moments, he finally fell asleep.

-----------------------------

Some hours passed as JinHai was still sleeping like a little angel. Sometimes he would chuckle something as if he was dreaming.

BZZZZZZZ

Li JinHai suddenly woke up: "What was that? Is there a fly or mosquito?" He heard a strange sound. Usually he would sleep heavily and he would never wake up because of an insect buzzing around but this time it was different. It was like the fly was inside his head.

BZZZZZZZZZZZ

He heard it again. The sound really was inside his head. With his hands he rubbed his ears, he thought that he was still dreaming because the sensation was really strange however, after a few moments he heard the sound again.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The sound continued for 10 minutes and each time it was stronger. Li JinHai was getting worried that something was wrong inside his head but all of a sudden, the sound turned into a voice.

"HUMANS!" The voice was an ancient one and was extremely feeble.

"What the hell is going on?!" Shouted the boy.

"HUMANS, IT'S GOD THAT IS SPEAKING..."

"PROBABLY YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE ME SO I'LL DO SOMETHING THAT ONLY A GOD CAN DO. NOW LOOK AT THE SKY..."

Li JinHai intrigued looked out of the window towards the sky.

SHUA

"EH?! It should be night so why is there so much light?" The sky that should have been dark was instead bright and was shining golden light somehow resembling his right eye. All of a sudden, some words could be read in the sky. There was written...

NOW, DO YOU BELIEVE ME?

The words were extremely strange. They did not resemble any known language and instead were made of alien symbols however they could be easily read by everyone. At least Li JinHai could do so without any issues.

The voice resounded again inside JinHai's head.

"NOW THAT YOU BELIEVE ME, I CAN CONTINUE WITH MY SPEECH… I WISH TO TALK TO ALL OF YOU ABOUT A SIMPLE MATTER. EVEN IF I AM A GOD, I AM NOT IMMORTAL AND AFTER SO MUCH TIME PASSED MY LIFE IS COMING TO AN END. I HAVE TO FIND A SUCCESSOR BUT THERE IS NOT ANYONE WORTHY BETWEEN ALL OF YOU SO I DECIDED TO START A SIMPLE GAME. IN A FEW MINUTES ALL OF YOU WILL BE MOVED TO A FANTASY WORLD. THIS WORLD IS A MILLION TIMES BIGGER THAN EARTH AND YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY INHABITANTS THERE SO YOU SHOULD BE CAREFUL. ALL OF YOU WILL TAKE PART IN A SURVIVAL GAME. THE SYSTEM WILL BE THE SAME AS THAT OF AN RPG GAME SO THE COMPETITION WILL BE FIERCE AND FAIR."

The voice stopped for a moment.

"AS I AM A BENEVOLENT BEING I WILL OFFER ALL OF YOU A CHANCE TO PRACTICE TO GET USED TO THE NEW WORLD SO FIRSTLY, YOU WILL TAKE PART TO A TUTORIAL AND LEARN THE GAME BASICS. THE STRONGER HUMAN... MAYBE I SHALL SAY 'BEING' SHALL TAKE MY PLACE AND BECOME THE NEW GOD."

"I WISH YOU ALL GOOD LUCK!"

As the voice stopped Li Jin Hai's body was surrounded by golden light and disappeared from his room...
