Chapter 37: Old Friends And Coffee
Piper glanced at her watch.
Dalton was well over an hour late.
She was about to get up and leave when she saw him coming into the front door.
“I had almost given up on you,” she said as he came to sit down.
“Not you too,” Dalton said morosely.
He looked like a kicked dog.
“No, you know I didn’t mean like that. Just that you are really late.”
“I know, I’m so sorry, Piper. I’ve been moving out of my old house into Cody’s. Then I went to have lunch with an old buddy. Wanted to get my mind off of stuff.”
Piper looked at Dalton, sitting there sulking over his now cold cup of coffee.
“I can get you another cup fi you’d like,” Piper offered.
“That’s ok. I’ll still drink cold coffee. Thank you, though.”
Piper felt weird sitting there, pretending nothing was wrong when all she could do was think about everything her, Liam and Autumn had been discussing.
‘You can do this. He will confide in you as long as you show him you’re his friend,’ she told herself.
