Chapter 26: A Scheming Heart
"Are you sure, with the two us we stand a better chance at surviving?"
The girl tries her best to convince David and make him part of the team that she wanted to form.
"I'm sorry, I prefer going solo."
David didn't want to continue the argument, he just wanted to take the food in the house and be on his way.
"Okay, I shouldn't have asked."
Suddenly when David turns around, she made a move on David from behind with one of her arrows.
"Just my luck."
Sighing as he had already prepared for any sudden ambush from her so he wasn't that surprised.
But his expression changed after he found out that the arrow was faster and stronger than he could have imagined.
He quickly slashes with his blade and cuts the arrow but as it divided, one part made it to his shoulder and the other his chest.
"Argh."
Even with him having fought a little of battles and having been injured multiple times, he didn't suddenly become immune to the pain as it would be shown in movies.
"You caused this, you could have joined me and become my subordinate."
Not stopping for a second, the girl kept firing arrows after arrows while talking to David.
"You think I will become your subordinate, girl you are too dumb for someone your age."
David after the first attack didn't have any time to catch his breath as she was constantly putting pressure on him.
It was not that she was stronger or better than him but the space was limited and he could not move freely.
"You can try all you want, but you should know that men have always danced in the palm of the women."
"And you will be no different."
As though injected with cocaine, the girl start firing arrows faster than before, the arrows are so fast that David has to face sometimes two at a time.
"Your over."
David suddenly stops dodging and just lunges at the girl, he had been observing her quiver for a while and he know that that arrow was her last.
"I'm out."
The girl notices it when she takes her hand back and then feeling no arrows.
She heard David say something and then he lunged at her but instead of fear, it was a look of having succeeded that appeared on her face.
"Now."
Hearing this, David didn't know why but he felt danger so he stopped and dodged to the side, only to miss a dagger coming at him.
David turned to find a guy wearing black up and down holding a dagger while looking at him.
As if that was not enough, three other people suddenly enter the house from the window and surround David.
"What, you didn't think I came alone."
A mischievous look was on the girls face as she is suddenly given a quiver by one of the people in her group.
David was analyzing the group, a bow, dagger, two swords and finally a spear.
"So these are the people that will defeat me, do you all really want to die that much?"
David no longer has a serious look on his face but a smile pupped up.
"Die."
The girl was not going to let David continue talking, she had seen his strength and didn't want to give him any chance to win.
She went backwards and allowed the others to attack, the two with swords and the one with a spear attacked me.
They raised their weapons and swung it down aiming at Davids stomach and trying to end the fight quickly.
David saw this and moved his body sideways dodging the sharp weapons. He then picked up his sword and drew a little distance to the attackers.
"It's a fight, right? Okay, I will give you what you want!"
Saying this, David charged at the three of them in front of him.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Metallic sounds echoed in the area near the river.
David ducked down and used his feet to kick the knee of one of the three. He then moved his hand and swung his sword.
Clang!
One of the other two protected it's comrade by blocking his sword, but the weapon was badly chipped.
Swoosh!
The remaining person rushed at him and then stabbed the spear in his direction.
Seeing this, David rolled backward avoiding the sharp end of the spear.
'They have a good combination and I praise that but... that's all'
David suddenly rushed forward and swung his blade with greater force than before.
Bang!
One of the attackers tried to block him but was pushed backwards by his strength. The three were pushed back to the girl.
David smirked and he once again rushed at them.
Swoosh!
He arrived in front of them in an instant and it caught the three off guard. The one with the dagger tried to stab him but he raised his feet and swept him sideways.
Bang!
The kobold flew and crashed in the walls of the housing causing a loud thum from the impact.
David followed up by swinging his sword to the other teammate.
Bang!
He was cut in the head and blood spurted from the head of the teammate.
It was so fast that the other two teammates didn't see it clearly. They were shocked that one person was able to defeat and kill one of them.
There was five of them but they couldn't even handle a single person.
One of them was down and the other dead, it was down to the last three.
David landed on the ground and looked at the remaining three with a smirk on his face.
He moved as he threw his sword on the other guy.
Putchi!
Blood spurted from the neck of the guy and it landed on the remaining two.
"Please spare me."
The blood was the final straw and the guy with the sword dropped it and and begged for mercy.
"I'm sorry but I don't spare fool's who try to kill me."
David said with no change in expression and before he could react, David swiftly lopped off his head.
