"Yes, we were."
If they said that they were making a joke about the new major, only God knows what would happen to them.
"Good, I'm gonna need to borrow him for a second."
"It's our pleasure."
"David, let's go."
"Okay."
Following behind him, David is taken back to meet the scary scientist.
"So let's start off where we stopped."
The scary scientist looks at Armstrong and then at him.
"You were originally brought here to see the progress we've made in our research."
"Okay."
David was brought here without being told why he was here.
"Let's begin."
"I'm not really sure why, but the thing inside the zombies and monsters is what we will for now call dark matter."
"For an unexpected reason, this dark matter has merged with the earth. For those who can't withstand it, they turn into what people call zombies."
Isaac continues talking and talking about the reason for the whole apocalypse, but David was completely focused on him.
"The zombies have their bodies mutated, and their bodily fluids become highly toxic. After being bitten, there's a 100% chance of infection."
"The mutation rate varies among people. The quickest observed mutation rate is 10 seconds, and the slowest is 1 minute. During that time, the victims' bodies would go into rigor mortis and decompose at the same rate as an ordinary corpse."
David was originally very focused on Isaac, but it started becoming increasingly difficult to not be bored and feel sleepy.
"So, that means..."
As Isaac was explaining to David, he turns and finds David was almost sleeping and was very annoyed.
"Wake up."
Shouting at David, Isaac goes to David and tries to slap him, but his hand is stopped by David.
"Sorry, but you're not my parents or my teacher, so don't try it."
David has been very annoyed by how he was treated, just being told what to do, like when he was in school.
"You dare hold my hand?"
Isaac tries to pull his hand back, but David is holding it tightly and not letting go.
"I'm done with this. I didn't come here to be ordered around by anyone."
Saying his thoughts out loud, David lets go of Isaac's hand and proceeds to leave.
"Get back here."
Isaac starts shouting and attracts the looks of all the scientists, but that doesn't stop David in the least.
"If you leave, you can't ever come back."
"That's good. At least I don't have to be around a bunch of weird people."
When the surrounding scientists heard David's response, they became annoyed.
"Just because we experiment on people and monsters doesn't make us weird."
Armstrong, looking at David as he storms out, decides to go after him.
"David, calm down. Let's just go back and talk things out."
He wants to settle the whole matter without offending anyone.
"No, I have seen the way you all treat your so-called new major."
"Don't tell me you thought I didn't see how you ordered me around or how he shouted at me, a major."
"So, admit it. I am nothing but an ignorant little boy who thinks anyone gives a care he is the new major."
Mr. Armstrong wants to retort, but there was nothing he could say. David's new position as a major was nothing but an attempt to control him.
"I thought as much. I am not staying with a bunch of lying hypocrites who are just using me."
Saying this, David proceeds to go to his room and pack all his belongings, carrying all the little things he left with his dog.
"Don't worry; we will go and find a better place to stay."
Patting the dog on its head, David reassures it before walking to the entrance.
"This is all a misunderstanding. Why don't you just stay, and we can get this all sorted out."
Quickly blocking David, Mr. Armstrong tries to convince him.
"It's not a misunderstanding. I won't fight for people who treat me like a puppet."
Walking past Armstrong, David proceeds to go to the front gate, only to be stopped by the guards.
"Who are you, and where are you going?"
The leader of the guards asks.
"You know me. I am the new major, and I want to leave."
The soldiers hear him, and then the leader calls one of his subordinates.
"Mr. David is trying to rebel and allow zombies inside; we need permission to fire."
The soldier hears this and runs off.
"What's going on?"
David feels that this situation is weird, so he brings out his blade.
"I didn't want to do this, but since you are not with us, you're against us."
"Permission granted."
Before David could react, a rain of bullets is fired at him.
"Boom! David is able to block a lot of the bullets, but some find their way to his leg, his arms, and one almost pierced his neck."
