Maegor remained defiant, however, citing that his father had taken two wives as well, claiming that the strictures of the Faith did not rule the blood of the dragon.

Feeling he had no other option, Aenys furiously gave Maegor a choice: set Alys aside or go into exile for five years. Maegor chose the latter option and left for Pentos with Alys and Balerion. But with North coming to help Faith militant was pushed back,but during this time Aenys's died of a heart attack because weak and sickly body gave out from the pressure.

Maegor who heard about this announced he was now the new King of Westeros.This was considered unsurping Aegon,who was Aenys's son.But end of the day Aegon was too young and naive to contest for the Throne.

North heard this now wanted nothing to do with this war for the crown,while they helped with fighting the Faith Millitant.

Maegor,who still warred with the Faith until he completely burned Sept of remembrance.

Rhaenys and Visenya controlled much of Maegor's bloodthirsty impulses.But sometimes it couldn't be held and they learnt to keep him occupied by building Red Keep.
