Trying to Adapt.

It's been 3 days since I woke up(Or remembered my past life?) as a bat and things have been boring to be honest.

My Routine has included practicing stuff, eating fruit that Xarana brought and talking to Xarana.

She has been very interested in my past life and says my life as a human sounds like the reversed of what her life was like which made me interested.

I listened to her talk about her constantly fighting for her life against her siblings and even after she beat them, she had to keep fighting against the other beasts to feed herself.

This went on for at least 150 years until she was teleported to a strange place with her pregnant.

She has no clue about where we are and it seems numerous other beasts were also brought here.

"Vess. stop zoning out during practice." I looked at Xarana who was teaching me how to fly.

Yep you heard her correctly I'm leaning to fly! Although it been hard because I lost any animal instinct I had when my trait trigger.

So far I can stay in the air for 30 seconds before I get to tired to continue. "Was I the only one in your litter?"

Xarana looked at me panting after my latest flight attempt and picked me up. "You have a twin brother, his name is Zana."

"Where is he?" I'm still not sure if I enjoy being held because Xarana is my mom or because she's so warm.

"He left a week ago, he was the reason you were throwing that tantrum." I could tell she was upset with my brother.

"Was I attached to him?" I felt Xarana squeeze me.

"Yeah, you were absolutely obsessed with him." Xarana put me down to let me continue practicing.

"Was that tantrum me asking for him to come back?" I flapped until I was a meter off the ground and stayed there.

"Yeah, you were crying your lungs out until you passed out and then you forgot about him." I felt remorse in Xarana's voice. 'Did she call it a tantrum to make herself feel better?'

I didn't call Xarana on it because she seems to have also suffered from it. "Why did he leave so early?"

"He was grown up by time he was 4 days old and while we were asleep he left despite you not wanting him to." I knew there was more but I wasn't interested in finding out Xarana's mess ups.

"I'll go get fruit for my little Vess." I watched as Xarana left and landed in the makeshift nest I made with sticks she brought with the fruits.

Silence filled the cave and the creeping dread seeped in to my heart again. 'I miss mom.'

Every time this place goes quiet all I can think about is how cold the cave is and how the last words to my mom was talking about a deer. "I didn't even get to see her in the last 3 months."

I felt myself fall apart as my thoughts spiraled. 'Can I live here?'

'Why did I have to remember?' My life was helping my parents not suffer but now their suffering anyway from losing their only daughter and I knew it was my fault.

"Why didn't they have a second child?" I knew it was a stupid thought but I can't stop it.

I craved Xarana's comfort she always gave me when she's here. 'Should I leave with her?'

Xarana's presence soothes me for some reason, this is why I don't try to point out what she did wrong. 'She might abandon me if I criticize her.'

'She wouldn't get rid of me, she likes me...' I'm not sure if I believe the thought but I can't accept it.

*SNAP* I snapped out of my self loathing as I looked to the entrance that was luckily out of sight. *SNAP* 'Oh god.'

I flapped my wings in a panic to reach the ceiling. 'Come on, come on!'

Why am I panicking you ask? that noise the sticks Xarana set at the entrance as a alarm for us incase intruders try to sneak in.

I barely latched on to a stalactate just in time to hear a dog's growl.

"Where is it?" I heard whatever it is step in the puddles of the cave and it was getting closer. *Splash Splash*

*Badump Badump*

"Are you sure she had a child?" *SPlash SPlash*

*Badump Badump*

"Yeah she wouldn't bring the fruit that small back if she didn't have one." *SPLash SPLash*

*Badump Badump*

"We gotta hurry before that monster gets back." *SPLAsh SPLAsh*

*Badump Badump*

"We should have time to get the core. I've been timing her." *SPLASh SPLASh*

*Badump Badump*

"Where is it?" *SPLASH SPLASH*

*Badump Badump*

*Silence*

"Right there~" I slowly looked down to see two wolves staring at me with bloodlust.

Not a lot to say besides being reborn with living parents would be awful.
