Daniel sees through Liam's lie

"Daniel, he is Uncle David. He has been with us even before I was born. He took care of me just like mom and dad, throughout the years.", Sophia said looking at Daniel, introducing David to him.

"Uncle David he is Daniel Rodriguez. My husband.", Sophia then turned to David and introduced Daniel.

"Hello uncle David. Thank you for taking care of my wife.", Daniel said gratefully to the old man and extended his hand for a handshake.

Uncle David shook his hand feeling overwhelmed because he knew his identity from Anna and Edward. He could see he was being sincere and this showed how serious he was about Sophia. David felt happy seeing their young miss find such a nice man.

"Hello Mr. Rodriguez. It's nothing. These kids just exaggerate everything. I did what I should do.", David said with a smile.

"You can call me Daniel, after all you are Sophia's elder.", Daniel said and Uncle David nodded his head in understanding.

The servants came down with luggage by the time and kept the bags inside Daniel's car following David's orders.

"Mom Dad, it's getting late. We will leave now.", Sophia said to Anna and Edward.

"You should stay for dinner ", Anna said and looked at Daniel who was about to agree but Sophia spoke first, " Maybe some other day. Don't worry mom, we will keep visiting whenever we get time."

Anna nodded her head and they walked them out to the car.

Daniel remembered the call Joe gave him earlier. He almost forgot earlier in anxiety to meet Sophia but now he remembered and hence, he said to Noah before getting into the car with Sophia, "Your gift will be delivered any minute now. Joe said it took a little time to get it ready in the colour you chose."

Noah cheered and spoke in an excited voice, "Thank you brother-in-law. Thanks sis for not obstructing him. Hehehe"

Daniel smiled at his thanks but later looked at Sophia inquiringly who gave him a 'will tell you later look' and Daniel nodded.

They both took their seats and Daniel drove the car out.

When they were on the way Daniel asked Sophia, " Why didn't you stay for dinner? "

"I wanted to tell you about Liam, the guy we met earlier.", Sophia said looking at Daniel who was driving.

"I trust you Sophia. You don't have to explain." , Daniel said with a sigh. He could handle everything but not her saying that she regrets marrying him. And the talks might lead in that direction.

"But I want to tell you why I asked you to marry me. He was my boyfriend since college time. We got engaged last month and that day was our marriage but I got to know that he was cheating on me ever since with my friend Jessica Brown. She told me herself that he confessed to her that he was just after my family's money. You might think why I believed her? It's because I know when she feels superior to others then she spits out the truth in her arrogance.", Sophia said everything slowly but clearly. She wanted to be worthy of the trust he showed in her earlier. He stood up for her without knowing the whole story just because he trusted her completely.

"If you don't mind me asking, can I ask you a personal question? You can decline to answer if you feel like", Daniel asked her in a very careful tone.

"Yes . What do you want to know?", Sophia spoke inquiringly.

"Why did you even like him? I mean he doesn't have looks, intelligence and nor is he loyal and honest. Then why? I am really confused, what you saw in him.", Daniel asked genuinely curious.

Sophia laughed hearing him and Daniel looked at her if she laughed in anger or was genuinely amused by his question.

Sophia was really amused hearing his words. "Now that I think about it, there was nothing in particular. Actually, he helped me once when a scandal broke out on college forum because I used my father's car that day and no one knew my identity as a part of the Miller family. At first, I just felt grateful towards him and then I started noticing him and he seemed very genuine person to me so when he proposed I agreed. After I became his girlfriend, I never thought of breaking up because for me relationship are a thing of life. But I guess that wasn't meant to be after all.", Sophia spoke while looking straight at the road ahead and she didn't notice Daniel tightening his hold over the steering wheel when she said Liam helped her and that's why they were together.

'That fucker didn't even recognise me. I was his roommate for almost three years. But he had the audacity to take credit for my work. Is he even worthy to help Sophia.', Daniel thought to himself, feeling anger build up inside him thinking about Liam's lie.

'I can't even tell her the truth right now. Liam you will pay heavily for your deeds.', Daniel said to himself internally and started thinking ways to make Liam witness his downfall step by step.

Sophia turned to look at him when she didn't hear anything from him. Daniel was still lost in his thoughts torturing Liam when she patted his arm and he came back to his senses and looked at her.

"Are you okay? You seemed lost earlier.", Sophia said in a worried tone, feeling concerned if her words hurt him somehow.

"I am fine. I was just thinking something.", Daniel spoke with a smile and Sophia just nodded her head still not convinced by his excuse.

She looked out of the window and contemplated if he minded her past.

"What was Noah talking about?", Daniel asked trying to divert her attention and it worked.

"Nothing. I just said to him that I told you not to gift him the car because he will go street racing and agreed to later when he promised he won't go street racing.", Sophia said chuckling thinking about the situation earlier.

Daniel too smiled seeing her satisfied look being successful in her mischief.
